When you upload a new version of a file, it usually goes through. You just need to clear the cache on your browser (ctrl+f5 in most, I think) to get it to display, so please don't keep uploading new versions of images over and over again. - Turboo (talk) 19:03, 19 March 2014 (EDT)

Aboutfile-reminder[edit]

Hello, Fiery Spyro. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the aboutfile template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded coding is shown below.

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line of the variable(s) you don't use. If you do not wish to use the template at all, then it is acceptable to simply remove it before you upload the file. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using aboutfile incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Please keep that in mind, and also remember to choose license while uploading images. Select "Video Game Sprite" for sprites for example. And Last, please remember to add games category, in case of New Super Mario Bros., add --

Sprites[edit]

Hi. Great job on uploading all those sprites, but if there are two completely different sprites on a single file (e.g. two types of Bandits, or the flying/flightless Goonies), it's best to leave them as they are so people can see what both types of one enemy look like. As for the screenshots replaced with sprites, those are fine. Thanks for understanding. Wolf Link costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC

Hey[edit]

Thanks for uploading the sprites pertaining to Paper Mario and Yoshi's Island, they're both useful and highly appreciated! Sorry if we seem to come off a little critical while overlooking your good contributions, so again, thanks and keep contributing! Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. Larry Koopa artwork[edit]

What is the source of the Larry Koopa artwork? The illustrator or character designer seems to be the same of the Bowser, Bowser Jr. and Koopalings on Airship artwork. Furthermore, the noise in the image suggests that the image is a scan from a magazine or a book.

The Larry image along with the soon to be uploaded Koopalings Artworks was found deviationart from the user princess aurora & btw the Peach, Daisy and Rosalina art can be found at Know your meme and they came from the same book the Koopalings were found in.

Thank you for the response! Good to know that there are other Koopalings artworks! Do you know the title of the book, by the way?--Mister Wu (talk)

Sorry it was from the user PrincessAurorus, no I don't know the title but it came from Japan. Edit: The title is Super Mario Drawing Book and it was found on amazon but it's gone.

Thanks a lot! Now that you know the source, I suggest you to update the information on the template given in the upload page!--Mister Wu (talk)
Sorry if I bother you again, but do you know the Japanese title of the book? Searching for "Super Mario Drawing Book" doesn't give me the links to this book at all.--Mister Wu (talk) 11:19, 29 June 2015 (EDT)

Sorry but I can't help you with the Japanese title of the book

Ok, thank you anyway!--Mister Wu (talk) 05:12, 30 June 2015 (EDT)

The problem is the pictures are gone, but they were there a hour and half ago that was until it was deleted.

they likely weren't uploaded according to Fair Use rules, as DeviantArt is not Super Mario Wiki. Google Images still shows them.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:11, 10 June 2015 (EDT)

Reminder[edit]

Hey there. Just a reminder to not use the word "You" when writing in articles. Instead, use "the player", or "Mario". See MarioWiki:Manual of Style for a complete guideline of how we write our articles here. Thanks.

SMW enemies[edit]

Hi, thanks for your contribution on the Super Mario World page. To add to what YoshiKong said above, next time, please try to keep the descriptions as formal as possible, which means avoiding the use of colloquialisms such as "guy", ellipses, and exclamation points, as this is the kind of language you'd find in informal text and goes against our writing guidelines. Thanks and keep contributing. Wolf Link costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC

Image Category Reminder[edit]

Hello, Fiery Spyro. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

or

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Several of your recent uploads are missing categories. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:33, 7 March 2017 (EST)

Additionally, you just sort of uploaded them and then left, as if expecting others to include them on pages. If you don't know where they go, feel free to ask someone, but it's usually recommended that you find a place for the image to go when you upload it. Otherwise, it'll fall under Unused Files and could be deleted if left alone for some time. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:43, 7 March 2017 (EST)
Hello! When adding the categories to files, use the coding instead of Super Mario World Images, as the second coding causes a non-existent template to transclude, while the first coding links to the category. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. New pages[edit]

Before you continue making new pages, know that making too many stub pages is considered a Level one offense. Please put some more effort into your page creations, tell more about the subject in as great of detail as you can. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:45, 8 March 2017 (EST)

...Removing the stub template from pages doesn't count. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:47, 8 March 2017 (EST)
I included a Welcome template at the top of this page. Please go over it to learn more about article construction. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:54, 8 March 2017 (EST)
Please stop creating too many stub articles on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.
One or more pages that you have recently created have been deleted or marked as a stub article. Please consider the following ideas and suggestions when expanding/creating an article:
 • Before saving a new page, be sure that you have put as much effort and information in the article as you can.
 • Make sure that the page follows all of the rules that are outlined in the Manual of Style.
 • Perhaps upload a few images that can be used on the article.
Please don't take this notice as a dejection; this is just an informative notice and we encourage you to keep contributing.

Please go over your welcome template and the stub template here before making any new pages. Learn more about how a proper Mario Wiki article should be constructed. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:05, 8 March 2017 (EST)

Version differences[edit]

A few years ago, you uploaded some sprites that claimed to be from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, but were actually from Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, which has its own category, which existed back then as well. I see you are once again uploading sprites from games that have had both SNES and GBA versions, so I just want to make sure you are verifying they are of the correct version before you place them in a particular category, as it is a pain to go through and fix them after the fact. So if you could do that, that would be wonderful. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:16, 10 March 2018 (EST)

Also, I'm unsure if this source you're using is even using the raw palettes, they don't look right. I'd recommend sticking with the Spriter's Resource, as they set high standards for what they offer, and I'd prefer the sprites uploaded be as accurate as possible. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:27, 10 March 2018 (EST)
Those SMW2: YI sprites were taken from the Deutsch Mario Wiki and what about the sprites from the Mushroom Kingdom or any websites that's not the Spriter's Resource?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fiery Spyro (talk).
If it's not a spriting site, I'd only trust them as a last resort. Method of graphic capture is important. And again, they aren't SMW: YI sprites, they're YI: SMA3 sprites, which are somewhat different. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:38, 10 March 2018 (EST)
See, this seems to have even sped up your uploading speed a bit! Good job! Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 05:05, 11 March 2018 (EDT)
I question where you got the SMAS Jelectro sprite, as Spriter's Resource doesn't seem to have it. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 05:33, 11 March 2018 (EDT)
It came from the Mushroom Kingdom Mariopedia Fiery Spyro (talk)
OK well you listed "Spriter's Resource" on the file info. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:52, 23 March 2018 (EDT)

Updating images[edit]

To reiterate what Turboo (talk) said at the top of this page, you need to press ctrl + F5 to get the new version of an image to show. No need to repeatedly upload the same image. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:09, 11 March 2018 (EST)
