Super Mario Encyclopedia

For future reference, we can't cite Super Mario Encyclopedia (the english translation) due to having names originating from the wiki, such as Soarin' Stu. It originates from the wiki. -- Fan Of Yoshi 03:19, 28 December 2018 (EST)

They weren't citing them, they were mentioning the SMBE naming controversy on the subject pages, which should stay on the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia and List of Mario-related controversies pages.

Moving files

You can simply move the file to the lowercase .png extension yourself by clicking the "move" tab at the top of the page. No need to tag it with {{rename}}. Mario JC 21:03, 16 January 2019 (EST)

Also, after moving a file, please make sure that any pages that still link to the old name (by going to Special:WhatLinksHere on the old name redirect page, found under "tools" on the left navigation pane) are edited to link to the new name, and that the old name is then marked for deletion.

Sprites

For future reference, never, ever, ever, ever, ever save a sprite as a .jpg. That absolutely destroys sprites. Save as a .png.

JPG to PNG

When a file is asking for a PNG replacement, it doesn't mean "upload the JPG as a PNG". That is against policy, and the Wario World images you uploaded showed no signs of improvement in any way.

When you do upload a valid image, the links to the old image need to be replaced, as Mario jc reminded you above. This applies to both moved images and replacement images. 11:50, 20 January 2019 (EST)

Aboutfile

Hello, Doomdorm64. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded coding is shown below.

|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line of the variable(s) you don't use. If you do not wish to use the template at all, then it is acceptable to simply remove it before you upload the file. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Hello, regarding your recent uploads while you have uploaded images with a properly added {{aboutfile}} template in the past you seem to be forgetting to add the {{aboutfile}} template to your uploads as of 15:17, 19 January 2019 with this image. Summary

Image quality

In regards to the Super Mario Galaxy images you've uploaded meaning to replace the files that are already there, they weren't of any better quality. Redirects

Hi, regarding your creation of redirects, don't create them unless they're alternate names used in official venues, are a widely common fan name used for the subject, or are otherwise a common alternate name originating from the wiki's olden days or otherwise. I'm referring specifically to examples like your redirecting of Battlestation Galaxy to Dreadnought Galaxy (not to mention that in this case it would cause confusion with Battlerock Galaxy). Conjectural pre-release articles

Please do not make pages like this. If we don't even have an official name for an entity in a game that isn't out yet, this can lead to all sorts of issues. That used to be done often (ie Mandibug has an article called "Spacebug" before SMG came out) but when we'll obviously be getting an official name soon, this is just making a bunch of extra needless work. Images for the SMG2 article

Hey, if you wouldn't mind, could you hold off for a few days on uploading new images for the enemies, objects, etc linked on the galleries on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 page? I am currently in the middle of a project to add high-quality emulator screenshots for all of these items, and it sort of messes up my organization and makes it more difficult to keep track of what I need to do. SMB environmental palettes

Aboutfiles and galleries

Transparency

As an additional notice, I'm pretty sure those smaller, orange-using sprites on TSR for the Sharp one are the _hypothetical_ ones if they were at the same size as the other versions. I request you go back through and replace them with the later ones that use the dotted red and yellow, as those are the actual ones to show up last I checked. Birdo (Yellow) MKT tricks

You were the one that uploaded the pics for Birdo (Yellow)'s tricks for Mario Kart Tour, right? I'm glad that you contributed to the Trick pics for that game, but the way the pics look are a bit off. Here's what I usually do when I take these:

I use the 50cc setting so it can be much easier for me to take the photo.
I screenshot the trick at the right time (no one in the way, when they're not spinning, etc.) and crop it just right.
I use this site to convert my pics to .png's, and I use the "best quality (lossless compression)" option for the quality.

If you could follow those steps so the pic could look higher quality, not to mention bigger, you'll be alright. SonicSpeed48 (talk) 15:29, April 21, 2020 (EDT)

Pepper

Apparently to get the enemy stats, someone needs to hack into the game's files. It's possible that hasn't been done yet, and usually seems to take quite a while.
