What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line of the variable(s) you don't use. When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: [[Category:Super Mario World images]]or [[Category:Super Mario World media files]] Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Your recent images were missing the Category:Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Images category. Please remember to include the necessary categories when uploading in the future. As for {{aboutfile}}, if you don't wish to fill it out, you can just remove it. Thanks.

- I see you keep wanting to use {{}} instead of [[]]. The difference between the two markups is crucial to making things work smoothly. {{}} means "transclusion". [[]] means "link to". We usually use transclusions for templates, such as {{aboutfile}} or {{promophoto}}. Categories use [[]], which is a special kind of link, being parsed by MediaWiki. That markup can be used to embed files. Also, : can override embeds and categorization, like with the category Category:Merchandise Images you forgot to place in File:Monopoly gamer.png. Please remember to italicize game titles. This is done by typing two apostrophes on both sides of the name; for example ''Mario Kart 8'' becomes Mario Kart 8.

You were told by a wiki admin previously to properly use {{aboutfile}} and to categorize images when you upload them, yet you didn't do either in your last two uploads. A quick tip: You can create your own signature page (User:B ron 3000/sig) where you can keep the code for your signature, then change your preferences accordingly for when you sign with ~~~~. However, whether you choose to or not, I should let you know that your signature is too big, and as per policy should fit in this box:

New article
When starting a new article, it's best that you put as much effort to it as possible with a sufficient amount of information right off the bat, rather than simply starting a page with a few sentences and marking it as "under construction"; otherwise, your page will be considered a new stub and marked for deletion. Additionally, remember to follow the Manual of Style, which includes bolding the subject title, italicising game titles (as you've already been reminded of before), categorising, etc. I let you off for now and decided not to delete the page as soon as I saw it (since others were making edits to it), but please try to remember this for next time.
