RULES
  1. Standard Template:Color-link-piped apply, of course. No spamming, trolling, vandalizing, removing comments, etc. Please follow the rules. You don't have to sign your comments here, but it'll make it easier for me to get back to you if you do.
  2. No swearing or obscenity. These words will get edited out ASAP.
  3. Please don't ask why I reverted or corrected your edit. Usually, I have a good reason and can back it up. Take a look at Template:Color-link-piped or the page history for more information regarding your edit, if available. If you must, you can ask for clarification, but only if you provide more than "Why did you delete my edit?!"
  4. Questions about my Power Master games and/or YouTube videos are fine. There are other places for those kinds of talk, of course, but I don't mind them on here. Any questions relating to a different wiki, please post on my talk page there.
  5. If you're here to complain about a block I gave you on other wikis, don't.
  6. I will archive once this talk page reaches 100 messages. I'm a friendly guy and am willing to engage in friendly conversation, so long as the sections don't become too excessive. Please do not make the 100th message telling me to archive, or any message, really.
  7. I welcome friendship, but only if I know you well enough.
  8. Unless it's an important response you should know about or if I started the conversation on your page, I will respond here.
  9. Have fun!

Coins

Do you have a moment to talk about the coin standardization proposal? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:02, 26 August 2017 (EDT)

Bah, it's just as mundane as deciding on a set spelling for minigame or deciding whether species templates should be pluralized or singularized. Also, the proposal isn't calling for every instance of the word "coin" to be either capitalized or not; when we're talking about the bog-standard golden Coins, do they take a lowercase letter or an uppercase letter at the start. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 23:24, 26 August 2017 (EDT)
Pardon, but your vote is still there, at least on my end. My proposal is dealing with the standard "Yellow Coin", which is simply called a "Coin"/"coin" in most games. I am not dealing with literally every instance of the word "coin", only the instances involving the Yellow Coins. I'm personally vouching for the uppercase Coin because that makes it clear we're talking about the unique, important Coins. 23:48, 26 August 2017 (EDT)

I started a new account because I couldn't remember the password for the last one. Now that I've remembered, how can I delete my new one?

FREEDOM!

I'M BACK! Did you miss me? Anyway, what happened while I was gone? I just beat New Super Mario Bros. TWICE over the weekend, and now I'm a pro at it! YES! Lcrossmk8 (talk) 15:58, 27 August 2017 (EDT)

Not much happened over the weekend. Did you find all the secret cannons? The alternate routes? The Star Coins? Were you playing as Luigi? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:02, 27 August 2017 (EDT)

All of the above! In fact, I 100-percented the game and got three stars on my file. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:08, 27 August 2017 (EDT)

Hey, good job! Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:12, 27 August 2017 (EDT)

Re: B Dasher

Because it's the main kart of the game. I don't know, I DO think we should say that at some point for all of the karts and characters. Mario Kart DS was my first video game and Mario game ever, so I know it like the back of my hand. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:50, 28 August 2017 (EDT)

Princess Shroob edit

Aw, DANG it! I thought that was gonna work for sure. You got any ideas, bro? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:23, 28 August 2017 (EDT)

Best to just leave it. The parameters of the quote template aren't working in your favor. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:25, 28 August 2017 (EDT)

Re: Subjective Content

OK, I understand. Sorry if I went a little too far with that. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:59, 29 August 2017 (EDT)

Peach/Daisy Appearances for Mario Party 4 (Clarification)

Yeah, Alex95 - nothing against you, of course, but what I (and others) are trying to get at is regarding that piece of trivia regarding Peach's/Daisy's current main dress/appearance debut on the Mario Party 4 article - we're just saying that the said installment was when the said designs made their debut and nothing more. I do agree that all technical details (describing said dresses/designs) regarding this are to be mentioned on the character articles themselves (which I believe has already been done). I hope you're able to understand; thanks so much in advance. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 11:41, 30 August 2017 (EDT)

So you also made sure that it still was mentioned on said respective character articles that Mario Party 4 was the installment where Peach/Daisy had their "current main dress/design" debuts and that Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour was the installment where their current general athletic outfits started to make their debut? I made sure of this too on the technical side because it was still important to mention on said character articles there (and because I usually focus on contents involving the Mario girls in general). --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 12:01, 30 August 2017 (EDT)
Yeah, I was also checking those sections too, but I've been busy with other matters outside of here; hope to get those parts as well verified when I get back. I still do believe that it was still worth mentioning there (the "details", of course) for the respective Peach/Daisy character articles. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 14:20, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

Waluigi edit

That's the point. That's the CLOSEST he has ever come to appearing in a mainstream Mario game. And how are TTYD and Kingdom Battle NOT mainstream games? Please explain. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 01:23, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

They're spin-off games. Mainstream games are those like Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario Sunshine. In PM2 and M+R, Waluigi is referenced, he doesn't make an appearence. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 02:00, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

but their is a fan game about waluigi called psycho waluigi I know it is not official but it is good though.Mariostar6 (talk) 20:18, 30 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

Re: Sponsors

Sorry, is there not another way around the sponsors pages? You see, if we add up all of the sponsors from all of the games, which were due to get pages eventually, the number is over one hundred, with over sixty of those from Mario Kart 8 alone. Getting it all into one page would be incredibly difficult, and the page would be huge. Regarding the speculation though, it is only what we think the company is doing and who runs it, as it is not a fact explicitly confirmed in the game. For example, the Peach & Daisy Royal Patisserie most likely is a patisserie run by Peach and Daisy, but for all we know it is really an item shop run by Dry Bones, so that's why I've been using presumably and the like in the pages. Also what do you mean by the validity thing? BBQ Turtle (talk) 16:12, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

Right, sorry, to be so slow to come back but I think I know what to do now about the Mario Kart sponsors. I think a split by game is best, but we may have to double split Mario Kart 8, as there are over sixty in that game alone. I think the best way to order it is alphabetically, as there is no specific in game order. When it comes to the sections themselves, I think I will probably nick the top paragraph from the current articles, with logo descriptions and what's on it, special references and whatever, create a table system for where and how they appear and include a mini gallery with variants for each sponsor, and whack all other pictures at the bottom in a large gallery, and just list the sponsor names that can be seen in the picture underneath. How does that sound?
Regarding the speculative stuff, I think it may be worth leaving it, as it isn't much. If I pick at random, say, Dream Gliders, the speculative sentence is:
"Presumably, the company produces the Gliders that the racers use after driving off a Glider Ramp."
All of them follow much the same pattern, so I don't see the harm in leaving them. In any case it is never more than a sentence, and if I find one that's more, I'll trim it. I'm not going on about some random malarkey in it.
Oh and just a quick thing- I think Nintendo must've put some thought into them, just look at the reference on Shy Guy Metals. And it wasn't like they barely paid attention, you have to admit, they did appear at the end of the credits, in team selection, loading screens, and in the Sunshine Airport announcements. And if we add all the sponsor over the years together, they've appeared in eight games to date, and in one upcoming one. Also that Kansai airport collaboration thing. So some thought must have gone into it.;P BBQ Turtle (talk) 15:43, 1 September 2017 (EDT)
Thank you, I'll probably stick with the current plan, and then other people can chop and change as they like afterwards. I think that's probably the best way to work. But can you leave the pages until I've got the information from them before getting rid? And I'll warn you now, it'll be a few months before completion, as I go back to school on Wednesday, so editing'll be a weekends, holidays, no homework and trying to avoid homework job. :P BBQ Turtle (talk) 16:06, 1 September 2017 (EDT)
Thank you! :D BBQ Turtle (talk) 16:10, 1 September 2017 (EDT)
Sorry, I'll remove the I'm not vandalising bit (I've just been using the same message over and over, that's all), and I'm only redirecting now so I won't forget later, if you don't mind. I just have a habit of forgetting stuff like that. BBQ Turtle (talk) 15:30, 9 October 2017 (EDT)

Uploading trouble

Ugh, I hate uploading images. They're not that hard, but the images I get can't be used for various reasons, and filling in the information is just a piece of trouble. That's why you don't see me uploading any images to the wiki. I nearly got a virus on my computer for trying a couple of times. Oh...boy, that was NOT fun at all, I will tell you. Anyway, how you doing, bro? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:40, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

A virus? Perhaps you may want to check where you're pulling your images from. Keep trying, though, practice makes perfect.
I'm doing fine. Working on some projects and stuff. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:42, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

Oh, just for kicks, you want to hear this music. It's freaking awesome!

Also, Bullet Bill's name is Killer in Japan. Does that remind you of the killer whale? It does for me. Both are powerful and deadly, and you don't mess with them. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:57, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

...I guess? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:58, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

Anyway, my birthday is coming up. It's on September 4, and I turn 15. In fact, I was born the exact same day the Oakland Athletics won their 20th straight game on Scott Hatteberg's walk-off home run and set an American League record for the longest win streak. I hold a personal connection to Moneyball for that very reason.Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:03, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

Dude! Why you entering in an edit war, buddy? You're a patroller! You should know better! You know what, you MIGHT be hurt badly by that one. :) OK, just kidding. I was just trying to give you a hard time there. But still, doesn't it make sense? I mean, Wario is an anti-hero, so he obviously would be using the ground pound infamously. And the ground pound is more than a butt-stomp, it's a hard-hitting pound and one of the most iconic elements of the Mario franchise. Lcrossmk8 (talk)

I know I'm on a last warning. I'm not dumb enough to forget that. I was just joking, you know. I know you wouldn't try to foolishly enter an edit war like that. And don't worry, my wits are indeed about me. I'm doing just fine. But I can't help but give people like you a little nudge here and there to keep the wiki alive and relaxed. But don't worry, I know to keep my wits about me and not let my guard down. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:22, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

May I ask what bobbing their heads actually entails? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:16, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

Collaboration project?

Hi, I know you're currently creating articles for Super Mario Bros. levels, but is it possible for us to work on the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle levels together? I mean, we did do well in collaborating on creating the Super Mario Galaxy 2 missions, and besides, the level layout in Mario + Rabbids is pretty overwhelming in and of itself, so I want to see how YOU would do it! (Two is better than one in this case!) Additionally, my plan is to do the levels of the even worlds, while you would do the levels of the odd worlds. What do you say? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:05, 7 September 2017 (EDT)

Ah, but have you considered watching gameplay videos (such as "let's plays")? It's what I've been using to create level articles in the past. In fact, I find it slightly more advantageous because you can actually allow the level design to sink in, like when it helped me create level articles such as My First Course, which I just could not beat. I'm still not trying to force you or anything, but it's just something to keep in mind. :) Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:34, 7 September 2017 (EDT)

Hello. I want to create another signature, specially for Halloween, but, can I create a new page with it or I need to change the current signature's page? Thanks for answering. Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 21:24, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

Kinda

Kinda is certainly a word. It's listed in the Cambridge Dictionary, the Oxford Dictionary, dictionary.com, and even Wiktionary. It's informal, sure, and not usable for the wiki's register, but it's a perfectly cromulent word, in the same way that "alright" is an accepted variant of "all right". Sorry about the mini-rant, my hobby linguist knowledge kicks in when people talk about informal words not being words. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:00, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

I'm kind of a grammar police myself :P I use it a lot, actually. I know it's a word, but not one the wiki prefers. I've seen it mostly as slang, though, or what I call a "lazy word". I regard "alright" in the same way, really. Acceptable, but not preferred. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:06, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
"Acceptable" depends on the context of the situation. You wouldn't speak using cold, formal, and unfamiliar language to your close family, for example, just as you wouldn't use highly casual and informal language when meeting the president/prime minister/royal ruler of your country. I agree that "kinda" shouldn't be used for the wiki, but I disagree that there are words that are not preferred in all situations. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:10, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
Well, yeah, totally. I definitely don't use swear words, for example, as my family and I deem those unacceptable. I suppose I said "acceptable" in a broader sense than I intended. By "acceptable", I meant acceptable on the wiki. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:12, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

Goomba

Wouldn't "Goomba (film species)" be more appropriate, considering the article isn't covering a particular character? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 12:31, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

Probably. I was going for consistency with the other "film character" articles, but I guess "species" makes more sense. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:34, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

Userbox Tower

Hello! I see that the "Shroom' Awards" section of your Userbox tower is messed up, try putting {{br}} after my Userbox. It should work :) Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 17:42, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

It looks fine to me. What do you see on your end? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:44, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

Hmm, maybe it's because I'm using the mobile version... I see the "Shroom' Awards" text written vertically on the right, just after my userbox. The same happened to me, after a userbox I put "Friends" in the tower, and it looked the same as I'm seeing the Shroom' Awards text. So, I put the {{br}} template, and now looks good. Sprite of an Ice Snifit in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. LED42™ (talkedits) 17:51, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

Personally, I lean toward artwork like he do for most Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii ones. Personally, I just feel the artwork looks better. Yoshi876 (talk)

That's my one concern. While it's fine for the ones in 7 and 8 because the models are of a decent quality, when you look at DS, they're pretty ugly. Yoshi876 (talk)

RE: Emulation

You started off with a ROM hack as testing emulator configurations. Try unaltered ROMs first. ROM hacks might have alterations that would otherwise be unplayable on real hardware (search for Everdrive N64 on Google). ZSNES and ROM hacks of Super Mario World have this problem. If you still can't get the emulator to work, I can send you my emulator configuration as a ZIP file or something. Delete your emulator folder and save the ROMs and saves. Then extract my contents. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:24, 21 September 2017 (EDT)

It's promising that you gave it another attempt. I only offered as a method to debug the kind of problems you are experiencing with emulation in general. Don't give up on it! Think of my offering as a last resort before giving up. No pressure, but let me know when you want to give emulation a third attempt. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:35, 21 September 2017 (EDT)

Hell Valley

I've been reading a few articles about Jigokudani and I fail to see a connection between the figures on the cliff and the real-life location. Could you elaborate? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:18, 25 September 2017 (EDT)

The claim in the article is that the three figures that appear in the galaxy's background are a reference to this location. My question to you is to explain what connection these figures have to the real life location. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:23, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
What do you mean when you say that everything about the figures is a reference? The player doesn't interact with them at any point in any way, and they're only background elements in the galaxy. Nothing about them is a reference to Jigokudani simply because they don't do anything that could constitute as a reference. The only thing that matches is their name, but as you said yourself, "Hell Valley" is the internal name for Shiverburn Galaxy, so of course the internal name for the galaxy's background would match the internal name for the galaxy itself. Perhaps I've misunderstood something: please explain exactly how the figures themselves are a reference to Jigokudani. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:33, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
Pardon my butting in, but therefore the reference should go at the top, not at the part with the "trees." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:43, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
I am talking about the three figures in the background. I am not talking about the entire galaxy. This is what the article is claiming: "Three mysterious figures appear in the background of the galaxy. The three figures also appear in the background of the Pull Star Planet in Grandmaster Galaxy. They are likely based on an area in Japan named Hell Valley that is hot, but has snow in the area." The article itself is talking about the figures. You are not responding to my queries. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:43, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
Okay, I see where the misconception lies now. The figures themselves do not appear to be referencing anything, but rather the galaxy as a whole does. Looking up more information, I can't find anything about what the figures could be based off of. Doc's suggestion would be better, since the name is a part of the galaxy as a whole. That work for you? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:48, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
EDIT: Actually, that'd look kinda out of place. Maybe just rewriting the sentence would be better. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:52, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
I'll tepidly accept a point under the trivia section. Areas with both snow and lava are nothing new, especially for video games, but the internal name is rather clear-cut. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:57, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
(I thought Doc was talking about the top of the page, not the top of the section, whoops) Alright, I have to leave for an appointment in a few seconds, so I'll make the change when I return. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:00, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
I was talking about the top of the page. Move that and the reference to the internal name to the top. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:30, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
Okay, that's what I thought, but it would seem out of place up there. It'd fit more in the Hell Valley section or in trivia. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:57, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
Heh, been calling it Freezeflame Galaxy this whole time, but it's Shiverburn Galaxy. Still, concept is the same. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:03, 25 September 2017 (EDT)

Level Help

Hi, I'm new to the wiki and I recently got autoconfirmed here. Anyway, I was wondering about something. I noticed that you were currently working on The Lost Levels levels and creating new pages for each of them. And from the looks of it, its a pretty big job. So I was wondering, would you like some help in creating those pages? I can understand if you don't want any help. But I just thought I ask, since I want to be helpful to the wiki. Char89Charizard (talk) 17:46, 25 September 2017 (EDT)

Hey, welcome! How much information do you think you'd be able to provide? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:48, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
That I do not know. Most of the information I know about the series is already on the wiki. I guess it depends on what kind of information you need. But nevertheless, I'll do my best to help make the wiki as accurate as possible. I even edit the Nintendo World Championships 2017 page when I first got on here a few days back to include the fact that Miami's Qualifier is cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. I learned that information from the official website. I love the series as much as any other Nintendo franchise. I recently created my user and talk pages so that people can know my favorite Mario games and such. I don't have a profile pic on me yet, but I hope to get one soon. But if there's any type of information you need, what kind of information would that be? Char89Charizard (talk) 23:03, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
Hmm that's good advice. I think I'll start checking stub pages first. I'll do my best to provide as much info it needs, unless I don't have that said info. But, hey. I'll give it a shot. Char89Charizard (talk) 23:35, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
Alright then. Thanks for the info. And also, I'm looking forward to Super Mario Odyssey. But I'm afraid I'll have wait until my birthday before I get it and my birthday is a month from the game's release. Char89Charizard (talk) 23:40, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
I found a stub article that's likely to go better inside another article. I added the talk page proposal to the list. Char89Charizard (talk) 01:11, 26 September 2017 (EDT)

Suspicious Behavior

The pages relating to the The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "Life's Ruff" have recently been given many edits by various IPs, particularly the Herman page. One of said IP's is also staring to edit a large amount of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door articles, which has happened recently before with that game. Now this may simply be an anon on a different computer from before because, say, they're at their grandparents' house currently, but I'd keep tabs on it. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:24, 25 September 2017 (EDT)

It was more the seeming IP-hopping that I was worried about... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:18, 25 September 2017 (EDT)

Protection requested.

Try getting an admin to protect the Mario All-Stars and Mario 2 pages, because that guy has a lot of IP addresses under his belt! – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 21:35, 27 September 2017 (EDT)

Yep, already talking about it. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:36, 27 September 2017 (EDT)

Aerodent and cuckoo condor

Sorry for bothering but let me tell you the reason I put these two in the undead category First off in the aerodent page it states that "Aerodent is a grey mouse ghost that hides inside an inflated bear balloon." which is why I put him in the undead category along with the reason I put cuckoo condor in the undead category which is that all the Wario land 4 bosses are ghosts (except spoiled rotten) and I thought he was a ghost due to his ghost like tail/feather thing which is similar to all the other Wario land 4 bosses (except spoiled rotten again) so yeah

No bother, thanks for coming to me. It appears the other bosses aside from Spoiled Rotten are marked as undead as well. I must've missed the "ghost" part of Aerodent's info, but thanks for letting me know. I'll correct the info. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:38, 28 September 2017 (EDT)

Sunshine Mole and Goopy Piranha

How are they not bosses? They both take three hits to defeat, one of them has boss music, and the other is constantly spawning minions and requires strategy to defeat. They seem pretty boss-like to me. Every bit as much as Big Bob-omb is. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:50, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

King Bob-omb is a poor example as he is a boss through and through. The others are one-time stage bosses, so while calling them a boss isn't incorrect, but with their roles in the rest of the game, it would probably be best to just call them enemies overall. Unless policy says they can categorized as both?
EDIT: Nope, bosses is a subcategory of enemies, but since not all Polluted Piranha Plants and Monty Moles are bosses, best just leave them as enemies. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:53, 2 October 2017 (EDT)
I don't follow. Big BOb-omb is fought once time in his initial appearance, while the bosses I mentioned are fought multiple times. Polluted Piranha Plant is almost comparable to Boom-Boom in this regard, albeit only fought once. What makes these any different from Petey Piranha and Gooper Blooper within the context of Super Mario Sunshine? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:56, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

EDIT: Uh, yeah all of them are bosses? Boss Music for PPP? Three hits for both? Strategy for MM? What makes these "enemies" but not bosses? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:56, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

They only ever appear in specific missions where only one each appears, and they are the focus of the mission by most of the NPCs in the area, one has boss music, both take three hits, they only appear in very limited numbers....the list goes on. Winged Strollin' Stu also only appears twice, but it's an enemy because it appears en masse and the NPCs don't even acknowledge them. The only times generic enemies are the focus of a level are the thing with the Snooza Koopas, which appear en masse and take one hit, the Chain Chomplets, which technically can be considered a puzzle boss, but again appear en masse and only have to be dealt with once each, the Chain CHomp itself, which is more of a sort of-belligerent NPC than anything, and the boos in the first "inside the hotel" mission, which were, again, en masse. Slendermole and PPP seem more like bosses to me. Listing them with bosses feels right, while listing them with enemies feels....forced and stilted. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:06, 2 October 2017 (EDT)
In almost all of his appearances, King Bob-omb is a boss. The Polluted Piranha Plant and Monty Moles are more like obstructions or maybe mini-bosses. The Piranhas situated around Delfino Plaza are certainly not bosses. Just because the Polluted Piranhas have their own music (the Monty Moles don't) and take three hits (some take six) does immediately make them a boss. I agree that the game does classify at least some of them as such, that's not my issue. My issue is that there isn't a proper way to categorize them as both enemies and bosses at the moment. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:53, 2 October 2017 (EDT)
They come off as bosses in all their appearances, including the Delfino Plaza ones. They give off that impression. And they act as bosses. They don't seem like just enemies. Because they aren't. They're bosses. Also, we count Piranha Bean as a boss just because it's one-time, despite having normal enemy music and multiple versions appearing at once in the new mode footage. Why should it be classified as a boss and these clear bosses be classified as enemies? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:57, 2 October 2017 (EDT)
I guess considering their roles they would be considered bosses as they do obstruct the player from getting to the goals. Nintendo Power also calls the Monty Mole in Noki Bay a boss, but the one in Pinna Park doesn't have the same role. ...idk, They definitely seem too major to be a standard enemy, so I guess the closest comparison would be a boss. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:02, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

On Super Mario Sunshine, it lists Polluted Piranha as both enemies and bosses, but Monty Mole as boss. Just putting it here so it is convenient, due to it being listed there. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 21:24, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

Uh, hello? Anyone here? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:38, 3 October 2017 (EDT)

Yo. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:50, 3 October 2017 (EDT)

Hey, it's you! How are you doing? Anyway, why the heck did I get blocked again? I think I know why, but I never suspected it would become much of an issue until a while after I got banned. I thought I had made it clear that I had learned from my mistakes--at least, I hope so, and I intend to. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:55, 3 October 2017 (EDT)

OK, I'll work on that. During my ban, I had a lot of questions for you about the blocking policy, and I analyzed in detail what I did wrong and why I kept screwing up. Ultimately, I realize that I'm trying to be too flashy and not really mellow down a bit. Of course, I will try to be as excited and hyper as I can be, but I'll be careful not to make a mistake. If I'm just able to hold on for now, maybe, just maybe, that last warning and those two blocks might just fade away enough, but that will take a lot of time. I also have a good sense of humor (I think), but I'm not using it right and yielding bad results. I'm also not really appealing to people by acting like I overloaded on sugar all the time, especially with the administrators. I just need to calm down. God, don't you just hate the GameFAQs community these days? It sucks. I spend a lot of time on it, and some nasty things can happen, including people trying to force their opinions down other people's throats and acting as if their opinion is the "right", "best", and/or "only" opinion, and as if they are the "true" fans of Mario and/or Nintendo. That type of stuff usually does happen on GameFAQs, and it is not pleasant. I guess it just rubbed off on me a little too much.

TL;DR Well, that's a very long response. Long story short, the moral is, I need to just be me and act down to earth, and not try to appeal to people and make them laugh by being all impulsive and hyper. I've got the questions for you in just a second, so hold on. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:28, 3 October 2017 (EDT)

Thanks

I at first was very upset with the corrections you made. I'm sure a lot of people would agree with me, but looking back, I can see how I was wrong, and as I'm new to this, have learned much. Thanks for doing your job. Chat Man (talk) 22:23, 3 October 2017 (EDT)

You're welcome! Don't let corrections deter you, just keep at it. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:27, 3 October 2017 (EDT)

Hello

Hey, my friend! How are you doing? I did say I had some questions for you about the blocking policy, which I will get to you sooner or later, but my computer shut down while I was typing them out. But hey, I hope life's been doing you good so far. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:19, 4 October 2017 (EDT)

Doing alright. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:23, 4 October 2017 (EDT)

oops, my bad, sorry I didn't know.Pikmin theories (talk) 21:44, 4 October 2017 (EDT)

Don't worry about it. Though be sure to check other user edit summaries sometimes to see why a change occurred ;) Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:46, 4 October 2017 (EDT)

To be honest, I actually did do that, it just didn't say, where it was moved to, and I didn't really know where it would be moved to, as, they're only in the paper Mario series, and I don't know much about that proposal stuff, so, I guess I figured the possibility of someone removing info for no reason and using the edit summary as a ruse thing, (no offense) but what's important is we got it straightend out. that redirect thing thing that someone just added should definetly keep others from obtaining my confusion.Pikmin theories (talk) 21:58, 4 October 2017 (EDT)

Sorry about not filling in the Info on my last couple images. Was trying To upload multiple and thought it was filled in, any way I could edit it back? I won't happen again.

Didn't realise I used Italics on any of my recent edits. Perhaps I did it on accident. Sorry & Thanks again, I'll revise the Rules on Editing and try not to make any more mistakes with my future edits.

IT'S HERE!

Hey man, how's your life? As for me, I am SUPER EXCITED right now! The remake of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga JUST got released TODAY! I'm SO EXCITED, man! I can't wait to get it, and I want it so bad! I'm gonna get it as soon as I can. How about you? IT'S FINALLY HERE! And most importantly, Alpha-Dream DID IT! They DID live up to the classic RPGs! YES! Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:59, 6 October 2017 (EDT)

I'll be saving up my nonexistent money for Odyssey instead. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:01, 6 October 2017 (EDT)

Odyssey too. I hope Nintendo really breaks the record books with that game. If Odyssey lived up to its hype and even exceeded it, it would pretty much nail Nintendo as the greatest video game company of all time, never to be matched again, no matter what happens to them after that. Anon's Mama Luigi edits

Torpedo Ted

In Super Mario World, ? Blocks did indeed have eyes due to being Rotating Block edits. And as for the "square Bullet Bill," the Torpedo Ted here does look rather boxish. But it's not as off-model as the Blurp with the fleshy white rings instead of goggles. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:03, 7 October 2017 (EDT)

Ah, thanks for the clarification on those two points. I'll add back the bit on the ? Block, saying they're based on the Rotating Block, but the other two points don't seem noteworthy, seeing as the "square Bullet Bill" was a Torpedo Ted, who are usually more squarer and longer anyway. Mario & Luigi project

Looking good so far! Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png

What are you doing? I was planning to build off that first statement. You don't need to delete it yet! Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:50, 7 October 2017 (EDT)

Post as much content as you can first. Creating a page with a one-line statement is unacceptable. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:52, 7 October 2017 (EDT)
OK, I got it. I hope I'm doing a good job, is all. I'd hate to see people tell me I'm doing terrible with this, but I don't think it'll come to that, as long as I focus and stay on track. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:07, 7 October 2017 (EDT)

Blocking policy questions

I've got a couple of questions I was planning to ask you. If they have answers on the blocking policy page, or if someone else has the answers, then please feel free to direct me to the proper places.

First off, how do you dispute a block you think is unfair or wrong? I think this would be very useful if you thought that you did nothing wrong and wanted to contact the administrators to discuss why you got blocked. And second off, what do you do if you're banned indefinitely? How do you appeal a ban or contact the administrator who banned you from the wiki? I feel like this would be an invaluable tool in case I got blocked indefinitely. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:57, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

OK. Thanks a TON for the help. I've been wanting to ask that for a LONG time. It's good to see that you still get access to the forums even during blocks. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:23, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

And how about redemption? If you got yourself banned indefinitely, then how could you redeem yourself and get back on? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:30, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

OK. So there IS a way of getting back on after you've been banned indefinitely. PHEW! Only problem is, it'll most likely take a few years, which is bad, but at least it's possible. Still, though, I wouldn't want to put myself in that position. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:40, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

Mario & Luigi project

Man, I got to say thanks to everyone who helped me out with the project. It was definitely worth the time, and that includes you, buddy, so thank you very much. But I'm not done yet, we have to do the levels for each of the worlds. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:33, 9 October 2017 (EDT)

"Shiny" enemies in paper jam

While in the game, the enemies names don't say shiny, a piece of equipment for paper mario called the Shiny Ring refers to all these enemies on the in-game description, thus why they need to be on the Shiny page. Thank you for your time. Chat Man (talk) 00:21, 11 October 2017 (EDT)

You claimed the statement of paper enemies making their debut was contradictory, I'm not gonna change the edit, but I would like to point out that the paper characters in paper jam are individual characters from the characters in the paper mario games, I was just trying to clarify that these "paper" characters first appeared in this game. Chat Man (talk) 18:57, 11 October 2017 (EDT)

Hello

Hello, how ya doing, boss? I've been getting stuff done as of late, and I'm really starting to see the results of my changed actions, and boy, are they awesome. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:36, 12 October 2017 (EDT)

Doing good so far. You still need to fix your sig, though. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:40, 12 October 2017 (EDT)

Ehhh...it's grown on me. I don't know why, but it just has. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:41, 12 October 2017 (EDT)

It needs to match your current name. Currently, the signature is transcluding a redirect. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:43, 12 October 2017 (EDT)

Oh, is that what the policy says? Dang it, I KNEW this sort of thing would come back to bite me in the back. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:45, 12 October 2017 (EDT)

New vs Untold

Oh, come on. How this is a "new" adventure! It's not! Ugh, it's just wrong to call the adventure as "new", when it's been in the books for a long time. I'd rather go with "untold" or "major", or just something that cements it as developing alongside and with the main Mario Bros story, and being directly connected to and with it, than just some stupid side adventure. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:03, 13 October 2017 (EDT)

It's a new mode to an old game. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:10, 13 October 2017 (EDT)

Still, it's not a new adventure. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:20, 13 October 2017 (EDT)

I get what you're trying to say, that an additional mode to an older game would be something similar to an untold tale. However, does that mean Mario Bros. would be an untold tale to the Super Mario Advance series? Or the Red Coin and Yoshi Egg searches in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe? It's a new mode, through and through.
Also, you need to update your preferences, as your sig is still transcluding your original name. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:24, 13 October 2017 (EDT)

OK, I get it now. And what? Can't you see my signature right now? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 00:23, 14 October 2017 (EDT)

I can see what your signature is supposed to show, but it's stiil being transluded through text as {{User:Skuchi037/sig}}. Click Edit here and you'll see what I mean. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 01:16, 14 October 2017 (EDT)

Hmmm, what? "Parallel to" means they don't connect. "Right alongside" means they do. What am I missing here? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:29, 14 October 2017 (EDT)

Perhaps "concurrent" would be a better would to use. The other two meanings don't imply any connectivity. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:35, 14 October 2017 (EDT)

I know, but the entire quote is what defines his character. It's his trademark, and I think it deserves to be on there. Yes, it's long, but I think it's fine. Sometimes, short snippets just don't do. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:10, 14 October 2017 (EDT)

Hey, what do you think of the pictures on the Rookie article? Should we have the original artwork, the remake artwork, or both? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 00:28, 15 October 2017 (EDT)

This is the kind of question you should be asking on the article's talk page. Dark BonesSig.png 00:39, 15 October 2017 (EDT)
In most cases, it would use images from all appearances. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:42, 15 October 2017 (EDT)
He's talking about the infobox specifically, not the whole article. And as far as I know, character infoboxes are only supposed to have one image. Dark BonesSig.png 00:53, 15 October 2017 (EDT)
Ah. Infobox images should show the most recent depiction of the character in most cases. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 01:03, 15 October 2017 (EDT)

I'm fine. There's no need to call anyone "boss" though, that's a little weird. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:23, 19 October 2017 (EDT)

I've already gotten a few things done today. Currently 6:16pm here.
Several characters look at the screen, but unless they actually say or do something toward the player (Roy was not, he was referring to himself), then it doesn't count as a break in the fourth wall. It just means the character turned. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:17, 19 October 2017 (EDT)

Bot stuff?

So I want to go ahead and change the enemy box template names because, although they all mostly follow the same naming scheme, its bad. How would I go about setting up a bot to go through the wiki and change instances of, say, "Bisenemy" to "BISenemy", or "MLinfobox" to "MLSSenemy"?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:58, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

Stump Petuni

Yes, there is. It's not "Confuse Petuni" or "Baffle Petuni" for a reason. It's Stump Petuni, and that's because they are in a tree. It IS a play on words. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:41, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

There's nothing relating to a particular stump, though. I get the tree connection, but maybe if Petuni was placed on a stump, it'd make more sense. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:44, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

Or does it have to be, though? I don't know, there is a clear connection here. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:46, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

Perhaps it would be best to get more options by posting something on the talk page. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:48, 22 October 2017 (EDT)

Work and Play

How do you think I have been doing since I returned from my block on October 3? I think I have done a LOT better since then. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:36, 27 October 2017 (EDT)

Yay I'm right for once

So I recently started playing mario odyssey and have been playing. In the Lake kingdom multiple dorries appear and an NPC refers to a specific one as "the dorrie" which makes them a collective species under that name. Dorrie is a specific dorrie. Chat Man (talk) 14:51, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Hm, interesting. The main Dorrie page appears to be addressing every instance of the Dorries that have appeared, so I'm not sure if such a page is needed if they only show in Odyssey. The creation of a species page should be brought up on Dorrie's talk page. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:55, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Odyssey name

Is there any relation between Homer's Odyssey and Mario's Odyssey? I'm suspecting there is. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:03, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Homer who? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:06, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

I'm talking about Homer. You know, the guy who wrote those two Greek epics. One of them was called the Odyssey. Is that what they're alluding to in Mario Odyssey? Let me guess, you don't know. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:18, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Oh, good, at first I thought you were talking about Homer Simpson. But, no, I don't think there's a connection between either of them. "Odyssey" means a long voyage filled with hardships and fortune, which would sum up both stories fairly well, but I don't think Homer had spaceships and dinosaurs in mind. Doctor Who would bear a better similarity. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:23, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Maybe it would, but Mario's airship is literally named the Odyssey. I'm starting to smell something fishy here, but I'm not sure if it's for real. However, I do think Nintendo named the game after Homer's epic due to the similarities, but that's where the connections end. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 17:25, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Spammers

Okay, sorry about that. I just didn't know why the guy would come on the wiki if he only likes one minor character out of all of them. But I will be sure to keep that in mind. Hope I didn't cause a ruckus. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:32, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Basically, don't try to pick a fight with spammers and vandals, and just anybody who tries to interfere with the activities of the wiki. I could say that I can't help but throw a jab or two at them, but let's face it, we have gone way past that, and there is simply no excuse for such insulting behavior. Just undo their edits and leave it at that. I got it. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:50, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

I am not complaining but the rabbid kong dab it was stated by ubisoft during a interview that he was going to dab but no information has been found that hes does dab so it was unsused

rabbid kong dab

hey look on my page and you will find what to type in for proof on the dab fact ok.

just wondering how can my make my own user page.

rabbid kong donkey kong fused edit

im asking why did you delete my edit of donkey possibly being fused with a rabbid I mean it sure is possible because the tie does have dk's initials on it and spawny can fuse stuff with rabbids so just wondering.

dk fuse proof maybe

well I know that there is no specific proof that shows but I personally think that the exact dk tie is enough proof also what else will create a identical tie well a rabbid probably couldent steal it beacause it is a rabbid and dk is a gorilla so if it tried to steal his tie well you can probally guess by now plush it has the exact same personality as dk loves bananas etc. so if dk was fused with a rabbid it will make sense if it has the same dna mixed with it also bowser jr. has already said that he was created by spawny it would be impossible for it to be big from the start because of what bowser jr said also psycho waluigi I was just suggesting I brought it up because until Nintendo makes there waluigi game psycho waluigi is what we have for now plush I have and it is really cool you should probably try it it doesent cause a virus.

I wish this was a talk page cause I'm kind of butting in, but the plot of Mario + Rabbids is that Rabbids were merged with Mario Merchandise. So the best odds are a rabbids was merged with a Donkey Kong plush or something of the caliber. Chat Man (talk) 21:02, 30 October 2017 (EDT)

Maybe, but the quote from Bowser Jr. would make it official. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:06, 30 October 2017 (EDT)

gloomy galleon

just wondering why was my gloomy galleon trivia fact deleted

ok then I didn't see the summary I just looked at the trivia and from what I can tell you said ships from what I can tell k rool only had the gangplank galleon.Mariostar6 (talk) 18:33, 31 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

so you still probably have navy but put sunken galleon because people can get confused Mariostar6 (talk) 19:02, 31 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

I know navy refers to ships but k rool only has one ship the gangplank galleon. Mariostar6 (talk) 19:29, 31 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

belive me I have played every donkey kong game even spinoffs and his only ship was the gangplank galleon so prove that their is more ships beacause I really he dosent have more ships.Mariostar6 (talk) 19:35, 31 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

airships don't count and navy refers to ships and others he as only one ship, airships are referred to as is his veichle he has a submarine too but that is another vehicle he also has two other airships. but navy refers to ships and military boats.Mariostar6 (talk) 19:48, 31 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

well the first world is named gangplank galleon and is the same ship, the ships in krem quay do not belong to k rool the veichles k rool does have are singed with k rool on if you do not believe me look a the map screen for gangplank galleon in dkc2.Mariostar6 (talk) 19:56, 31 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

ok so if you want a can change navy to galleon or ship.Mariostar6 (talk) 20:01, 31 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

well I have beat the game and I would say gangplank galleon was the only ship he had own there are sunken ships in krem quay but those don't have k rools name on them so those are not his and you also said there more than one ship on gloomy galleon .Mariostar6 (talk) 20:04, 31 October 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

Kremling Pirate ships

Yeah, he had more than just Gangplank Galleon, like the one full of red-hot water in Crocodile Cauldron. In fact, all the "ship hold" levels were in different ships. There is no absolute evidence that any of the ships in GLoomy Galleon are Gangplank Galleon other than implication. In fact, given the size disparity between how it appeared in DKC, DKL, and DKC2, there may be more than one ship called "Gangplank Galleon." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:43, 31 October 2017 (EDT)

no speculation

You had said before speculation can not be on Mario wiki however on k rools article it says he may steal the bananas in order to starve the kongs and that is speculation.

We have sources on that, though. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:03, 1 November 2017 (EDT)

on sources but it has never been confirmed so it is speculation ok .Mariostar6 (talk) 17:32, 1 November 2017 (EDT)mariostar6

Speculation is making stuff up, maybe based on in-game info, maybe not. But if there is a valid source that suggests something, it's not speculation. King K. Rool's article doesn't state his possible motive as fact, it simply says that it's possible and provides a source. Just because it isn't outright confirmed doesn't make it speculation.

Now that's what I like. Short answers are the best. I hope you are doing well today, bro. By the way, the GameFAQs community just sucks right now, and given that I am on it, I wanted to ask you, do you think that Mario has ever had a dark age? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:49, 2 November 2017 (EDT)

I'm doing well. There have been a few titles that haven't done well (Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash as a most recent example), but I don't think there was ever a "dark age". There's, like, seven Mario games a year. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:54, 2 November 2017 (EDT)

Good. Because those fans that tend to complain that "Mario is in a dark age, the new games suck, they never live up to the classics, they changed the formula, bla, bla, bla..." show EXACTLY the type of attitude and opinions that I utterly despise at the worst of times. I mean, doesn't it just grate on your nerves to hear people constantly blabber their mouths out about how "Mario sucks now, it used to be the best"? It's not only because I completely disagree with them, it's because they do not stop belaboring the same things all the time. What do you think? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:00, 2 November 2017 (EDT)

Aw man, I missed that? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:02, 2 November 2017 (EDT)
I think it's all perspective. Nostalgia can play a part in it, for example, Super Mario 64 is my favorite game because it was my first Nintendo game and really got me hooked on gaming as a whole. Sure, things change over time, but that doesn't make things bad in and of itself, though some are certainly hit or miss. Chances are the people complaining never really got to experience the game to its full potential. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:04, 2 November 2017 (EDT)

New Donk/Big Ape

Nintendo retconned the lore, making it so that Donkey Kong kidnaps Pauline and Mario saved her long ago in New Donk City. However when dealing with appearances, New Donk City did not appear in the original Donkey Kong game, that is a fact. It will always be set in Big Ape City. Even through retconning the game still doesn't take place in New Donk, only the events that happened in that game. There is a difference.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:30, 6 November 2017 (EST)

And you cannot definitively say that. It didn't take place in any specified city at the release of the original arcade game. I said it retroactively appears first in Donkey Kong because of said retcon. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:33, 6 November 2017 (EST)
But if Mario saved Pauline in New Donk City, wouldn't that make New Donk City where the events of the original game took place? What's the source of your information, because what we have is different. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:35, 6 November 2017 (EST)
Okay, now I'm confused. --EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:45, 6 November 2017 (EST)
This Tweet and in game material shows that New Donk City is where this original Donkey Kong took place. Since it is also confirmed that Big Ape City is where the events of Donkey Kong took place, that would make both Big Ape and New Donk Cities the same place. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:50, 6 November 2017 (EST)
FYI, in Perfect Ban Mario Character Daijiten, Lady/Pauline is stated to be from New York, which is the intended setting of Mario Bros. arcade game. The implication is that it is or was also considered the setting of the game's construction site. Note that Donkey Kong Land came out the following year. Big-City and Big Ape City are apparently one and the same, now on Donkey Kong Island, but New Donk City is probably meant to be the actual location of the original four levels and possibly a rebooted version of the early New York concept. LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:10, 6 November 2017 (EST)
Wow, didn't know New York City was set in a jungle Yeah, I remember the New York City information, Mario and Luigi are from Brooklyn (that may not be the case anymore, idk, but still). But once the series started get more comical, seems they are trying to retcon that information. But how can Big Ape City in Donkey Kong Island be the same location as New Donk City in the Metro Kingdom? ...Is the Metro Kingdom also on Donkey Kong Island? (That'd explain the street names, maybe :P). Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:16, 6 November 2017 (EST)
Certainly not the current depiction of Donkey Kong Island, as it was apparently supposed to be near the center, which is currently dominated by a volcano. At least the areas from DKC1 and DKCR somewhat correlate (Jungle=first half of DK Jungle, Beach=2nd half of DK Jungle, Cave=Monkey Mines, Ruin=the ruin levels in both Monkey Mines and Vine Valley, Forest=Vine Valley, Cliff=Gorilla Glacier after volcano eruption melted it, Factory=Kremcroc, while the volcano may be Chimp Caverns having filled up with magma. Incidentally, the map of Chimp Caverns is near identical to a portion of Crystal Caves... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:47, 6 November 2017 (EST)
The construction site is considered a separate world from Big-City in 1994's Donkey Kong, so it's possible that the construction site was never truly a part of Big-City / Big Ape City to begin with, hence why New Donk City is on the mainland. Or the Super Mario Odyssey developers just forgot about mid-90's Game Boy games... LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:50, 6 November 2017 (EST)
I don't expect game devs to remember every game. The developers of Splatoon said they forgot about Super Mario Sunshine, and Of Myths and Monsters got absolutely nothing in Kid Icarus: Uprising. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:22, 6 November 2017 (EST)
I forgot about DK94 all the time, really all it has to show for is the MvDK series. But how on Earth does one forget Super Mario Sunshine? That's like a cardinal sin in my book.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:31, 6 November 2017 (EST)

Super Mario Galaxy 2 reception

If you look on the many game review sites, or whatever you call them, like IGN, Metacritic, GameSpot, and so on and so forth, you'll see them consistently refer to Mario Galaxy and Mario Galaxy 2 as two of the greatest and most iconic games of all time. I can't really put a specific source, so this is the best I can go with. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:14, 12 November 2017 (EST)

"Most iconic game" could use a source, though. Can't just say that. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:18, 12 November 2017 (EST)
Which source do we use, though? IGN, GameSpot, or even Metacritic? We have to use somebody if we're going to put it on there. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:21, 12 November 2017 (EST)
The reception list sort of already has something: "Upon its release, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was met with critical acclaim, and is one of the highest rated video games of all time on the aggregation sites Metacritic and GameRankings." Thing with iconicness is it's more of a time thing. While several games followed the Super Mario 64 formula, not so much Galaxy 2. It is most certainly one of the greatest Wii games, though. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:24, 12 November 2017 (EST)
Well, does the video game fanbase generally regard Mario Galaxy as one of the greatest and most iconic games of all time, or is what I have heard the entire time a complete lie? I don't want one game getting the "most iconic game" treatment when there are others that people generally regard rank in its company. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:27, 12 November 2017 (EST)
Looking around IGN and other sites, I'm not seeing anything that outright claims SMG2 as "iconic". "Great", "fantastic", and "masterpiece" are used, but not iconic. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:34, 12 November 2017 (EST)
Well, what do we do, then? Again, I don't want one game getting the treatment, when others in its company don't. We have to do something, right? Or should we just not do anything, I guess? I don't know, it's your call, bro. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:38, 12 November 2017 (EST)
Nothing wrong with only one game being called iconic. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:40, 12 November 2017 (EST)
The Super Mario 64 article does not once use the word "iconic". We don't need to use it. Just let it go, already. Dark BonesSig.png 19:41, 12 November 2017 (EST)
I'm sorry, I was just curious why it's the only one to get the treatment, is all. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 19:50, 12 November 2017 (EST)

Argument Issues

Me and Burb are having an argument about the costume designs and references in the article for Super Mario Odyssey right now, Unlike last time this was not editing war. I was only trying to be as resourceful as possible with a connection. I have been trying to tell him but he thinks otherwise with his own opinion while the others don't seem to care what I put. Here is the conversation what is going on on the very bottom of the discussion page. I really want this to end to be honest. https://www.mariowiki.com/User_talk:Burb Gamermakeguy

Alright, I'll look over it. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:14, 13 November 2017 (EST)
Thanks sorry for the long messages too. Gamermakeguy

Dinosaurs

Yes, in fact, birds are indeed dinosaurs, by taxanomical definition. They evolved from them, and current taxonomical rules state that if something evolves from someithng, it is a derivative of it, and therefore not actually separate. Hence why humans are apes. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:42, 15 November 2017 (EST)

I'm aware of that, in terms of reality. However, the Mario universe has birds made from bananas and birds that turn into Coins upon being squirted by water. Clearly, not every bird in the Mario universe is a dinosaur. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:26, 15 November 2017 (EST)
Technically they would be upon the basis of being a bird in the first place. It's just that one's a hybrid with an oblong yellow berry and the other seems to be made from goop or something. We list Electro-Koopas as being Troopas despite them being formed from glop. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:28, 15 November 2017 (EST)

Edit Warring

Whoa, I'm sorry, I was just trying to help. I guess I didn't though, right? Yeah, that seems to be the case. I hope you're doing well today, buddy. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:07, 15 November 2017 (EST)

All right, got it. I feel GREAT today! I was outside after school lifting some weights and doing a lot of running, and boy, did it feel as great as ever before. I'd like to get things done today. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:21, 15 November 2017 (EST)
Aw, man. I thought I'd gotten past that, but I guess I didn't. Long story short, don't get involved in other people's fights unless help is needed, right? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:37, 16 November 2017 (EST)

Question

Would you consider this even remotely acceptable behavior? "Cant be an insult if it's true." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:01, 17 November 2017 (EST)
