• A Magikoopa appears to be a playable character in early screenshots of Mario Kart 64, although this being Kamek, but it was canceled for no reason, and he was eventually replaced by Donkey Kong. Similarly in Mario Kart 8, a Magikoopa emblem appears in the coding, possibly indicating that Kamek was originally a playable character in that game as well.
• In Super Mario Sunshine, the shine on the boxart of the North American, Japanese, and UK English versions of this game roughly says, "Mario has more moves than ever, you'll have to master them all to sprinkle^NTSC / spray^PAL water in the sunshine." All the other European boxarts have this sentence as well, but they are translated.
• All of the Pokémon that appear in Poké Balls in Super Smash Bros. Melee are based on their design in Pokémon Stadium 2. Additionally, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the 3rd generation Pokémon and 4th generation Pokémon that pop out of Poké Balls are based on their designs from Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon Battle Revolution.
• Super Mario 3D Land is the first installment in the Mario series overall (excluding crossover installments) to be localized to Dutch, Portuguese, and Russian.
