Hey guys, I'm Semako, a 22 year old Austrian Super Mario fan, competitive Smash and Mario Kart player and Super Mario 64 speedrunner who tries to git gud. I'm also responsible for the German MarioWiki and the German Super Mario Boards. In real life, my name is Sebastian, and I'm living and studying Science of Laws in Vienna.

Altough I'm born in 1996, I actually started with the Nintendo DS and Mario 64 and Mario Kart DS as my first Mario games, for a well known reason: my parents, who didn't wanted me to play video games - but, that was quite lucky for me, they made their mistake and gave me a Nintendo DS - which was enough for me to become addicted to the Mario series. Since then I've played most Mario core games and built up my own Nintendo collection, from Super Mario Bros. on the NES up to Mario Kart 8D on the Switch.

Altough I have lots of games, there's one game which is my all-time favourite: Super Mario 64 for the N64.
Super Mario 64 reminds me of the good old days where I played the DS remake for hours, but with actually better controls thanks to the analogue stick - once you know how to master the camera - and it is playable on a bigger screen, the DS screen was really a bit too small for this game. Another great thing about this game is speedrunning - it is the most popular speedrun game for a reason, and there are so many different possible routes to be mastered, so that this game still is a challenge for me, even after so many years of playing it and its DS remake. And I like how still new things are discovered, of course mostly thanks to the Youtuber Pannenkoek2012, in a game which is more than 20 years old.

File:SMB logo.png Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo Entertainment System
An all-time classic and still fun to play today, despite being more than 30 years old. Beaten in normal and hard mode.
File:SMB logo.png Super Mario Bros.
Famicom
The same as the above, except it runs at 60 FPS rather than 50 FPS and thus is the preferred version for speedrunning.
File:Super-mario-bros-2-1986nintendoj0000.png Super Mario Bros. 2
Famicom Disk System
Man, I love challenging games like this! Not finished yet...
File:Logo super mario bros 2 (super mario bros USA).jpg Super Mario Bros. 2
Nintendo Entertainment System
I like playing as different characters with different attributes, but in total, I prefer the other two Mario games for the NES. Incomplete
  Super Mario Bros. 3
Nintendo Entertainment System
Even better than Super Mario Bros., but also more difficult. Defeated Bowser.
  Super Mario World
Super Famicom
The cutest Mario character ever was introduced in this game: Yoshi. That alone is a reason to love this game. Oh, and the music gets stuck in my head everytimes after playing it. Defeated Bowser
Super Mario World 2: Yossy Island
Super Famicom
So cute! I really have to play more Yoshi games... Not finished yet
  Super Mario All-Stars
Super Famicom
Not finished all games yet
File:Super Mario Kart logo.png Super Mario Kart
Super Famicom
Steering feels a bit awkward, but when you get used to it, it makes fun. However, I prefer its successor. Completed all cups
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
Gameboy
Creative levels; before playing this game I never expected to see Mario jumping through a world built with Lego bricks. incomplete
  Super Mario 64
Nintendo 64
Still a great game, not only for Speedrunning. And where else can you travel to Parallel Universes so quickly? 100% completed.
File:Mk64 logo.gif Mario Kart 64
Nintendo 64
As long as there's no spiny shell, it's great game to play with friends, despite its age. Controls are much better than those if its predecessor. Completed all cups
  Super Smash Bros.
Nintendo 64
I really can't play Smash without a Gamecube controller, so I pretty much suck at this game. Unlocked everything
  Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Gameboy Advance
A nice game, but I like the other Mario & Luigi games more. Incomplete.
File:MKSC-Logo.png Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Gameboy Advance
A lot of good racetracks, but as in Super Mario Kart, I don't like the controls that much. Incomplete.
File:Sunshine logo.png Super Mario Sunshine
GameCube
Very different from other Mario games, but I like it. I really have to play this game more! Completed the game, but some Shines are missing.
File:Mkddlogo.PNG Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
GameCube
Great tracks, unique and intersting mechanics, and good controls, which allow Snaking, similar to Mario Kart DS. Completed all cups.
File:Super Mario 64 DS logo.png Super Mario 64 DS
Nintendo DS
Great remake with lots of new content, but due to the lack of an analogue stick, controlling Mario can be a pain. And too bad that Waluigi doesn't exist in the game. Got all 150 stars and all minigame keys.
  Mario Kart DS
Nintendo DS
My all-time favourite game of the Mario Kart series and arguably the most competitive. Made even better due to the Missions and due to Battle mode no longer being multiplayer-exclusive. Got 3 stars rank in all cups and missions
  New Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo DS
The first and the only actually "new" game of the series. Also great to play with friends thanks to the unique Mario vs. Luigi mode and the introduction of multiplayer minigames. Completed the game.
  Mario Party DS
Nintendo DS
My all-time favourite of the series, but I never owned the N64 or GameCube parts. The turn-based movement is so much better than the new all-in-a-car movement used since Mario Party 9. Unlocked everything, 100 000 Mario Party points
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Nintendo DS
I had to laugh a lot when playing this game - mainly because of how Bowser's minions talk to him and because of Fawful. A great game with lots of humor and a fairly unique setting. Completed, reached level 50+ with every character
  Mario Party 8
Wii
Same turn-based system as Mario Party DS, intersting boards, and a crazy host - maybe his top hat was an inspiration for Cappy?! Sadly the minigames are a bit boring and repetitive. Unlocked the boards and characters
  Mario Party 9
Wii
Much better minigames than its predecessor, but really I don't like the new board gameplay. Unlocked the boards and characters
  Super Mario Galaxy
Wii
A milestone of a game and one of the best Mario titles of all time. More platforming-focused than the previous 3D games, but playing with gravity is fun and the Soundtrack is awesome. Also I couldn't hold back my tears when I read Rosalina's storybook... Got the stars.
  Super Mario Galaxy 2
Wii
While its Galaxies are as creative as those from Super Mario Galaxy, it only has a simple, generic story like the 2D parts - and so, I prefer the first part over it. Completed the game.
  Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wii
Best singe player mode of all Smash games, but has serious balance issues - yes, I'm talking to you, Meta Knight - and tripping makes the game uncompetitive. At least it is playable with the Gamecube controller. Completed Subspace Emissary on Intense.
  Mario Kart Wii
Wii
I don't like the vanilla game that much due to the massive item bombardement - altough that can be fun when racing amongst other friends - but when Custom Tracks are hacked in, it becomes one the best Mario Kart games due to the sheer amount of tracks being available. Got 3 star rank in all cups.
File:New Super Mario Bros. Wii logo.svg New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Wii
Best played together with friends - and then it really makes fun, altough it gets old over time. Also has the best final battle of all two-dimensional Mario games. Completed the game.
File:SMB logo.png Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
Nintendo 3DS (Virtual Console)
The main advantage over the NES game are the savestates. Otherwise I prefer the NES version due to the bigger screen and because I can use the original gamepad. Beaten in normal and hard mode.
  Super Mario 3D Land
Nintendo 3DS
Basically a three-dimensional New Super Mario Bros.. Gets a bit repetitive and over-relies on the 3D view, but the only really good Mario game on that console. Completed the game.
File:185px-Mk7.png Mario Kart 7
Nintendo 3DS
Despite having really good tracks, it is one of the weakest parts of the series due to item mechanics - I hate getting the leaf in 1st place, and blue shells are more common than ever - and the lack of VS. mode and Waluigi. Also disconnects fairly often in online mode. 3 star ranks in all cups and unlocked everything.
  New Super Mario Bros. 2
Nintendo 3DS
Nothing is new at that game - except that coins are scattered everywhere and that it is much easier than its predecessors. During my first playthrough I didn't see the Game Over screen once... Completed the game, collected a million coins.
  Luigi's Mansion 2
Nintendo 3DS
I never played the Gamecube part, but this game was pretty good. I liked the Boo name puns and the fact that it was not that easy - Too bad that it was quite difficult to find three other players for the ScareScraper, Completed the game.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros.
Nintendo 3DS
Overall a good game, but too much repetitive Toad minigames, and I also didn't like the Papercraft battles. Completed the game.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
Nintendo 3DS
Better singleplayer mode thanks to Smash Run than the Wii U game, but playing Smash with 3DS controls - which means less buttons and no C-Stick - is awkward. Unlocked the characters
File:NSMBU.png New Super Mario Bros. U
Wii U
A decent 2D game, with new content and good level design. Just like the Wii game, it is best to be played in multiplayer mode. While the gamepad mode can be boring, it is also fun to play antagonistic and make the other players lose their lives due to nasty platform placement. Completed the game for 5 twinkling stars.
  New Super Luigi U
Wii U
Altough pretty similar to the latter, it's the better game in my opinion due to having more difficult levels - especially when they're played with Mario's mechanics. Completed the game for 5 twinkling stars.
  Super Mario 3D World
Wii U
Obviously a successor of 3D Land, and so very platforming-orientated. Level-Design and Soundtrack are much better and the Bowser and Castle worlds are awesome. Also features a nice multiplayer mode for four players. Completed the game.
  Mario Kart 8
Wii U
Loads of awesome, fast-paced tracks with great soundtracks, a challenging 200ccm class and less Item bombardement than the previous parts. However, suffered from the non-existant battle mode... 3 star rank for all cups.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Wii U
By far the most balanced Smash game and great to play competitively. However, when it comes to playing alone, it gets boring quickly. The idea of Smash Tour is great, but the implementation just sucks. And CPUs still are extremely exploitable. Unlocked Characters and stages.
  Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Wii U
Puzzle games are not my thing, but this game is nicely made and makes fun. However, having to look at both screens at the same time is quite annoying. Completed.
  Yoshi's Woolly World
Wii U
Really cute game with nice level design and soundtrack. Also has a good co-op mode to play with a second player. Completed the game.
  Super Mario Maker
Wii U
I like creating my own levels. The game as lots of great features such as the Mystery Mushroom; however I don't understand why I can't build slopes. Also there are way too much poorly designed levels online. Unlocked all sets of blocks and some costumes.
  Mario Party 10
Wii U
I like the Bowser mode idea, but it is poorly implemented and unbalanced. Also, it features the same movement as Mario Party 9, which I don't like; and why do I have to buy Amiibos to get access to big parts of the game's content? Completed a game on every board.
  Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Switch
The racing modes are the sames as in the Wii U version, but the battle mode got a big improvement, making it one of the best battle mode implementations in the series. Also, the roster got some crucial characters added like King Boo, Dry Bones and Bowser Jr. 3 stars for every cup, everything unlocked

Super Mario Odyssey
Switch
A fantastic 3D Mario game, with probably Mario's best moveset ever. I especially loved the Super Mario 64 eastereggs hidden in the game. Now give us Isla Delfino, Nintendo! Please! 100% completed
