The Tri-Speeder is an unlockable kart body that appears in Mario Kart 8. It is a three-wheeled kart that is painted green and slightly resembles a 1937 Morgan Super Sport. The Tri-Speeder is one of two vehicles in Mario Kart 8 to have only three wheels, with the other vehicle being the Bone Rattler. It sports an open V-twin engine with an ? Block from the front facing northeast, and two pistons in the shape of mushrooms. It has an advantage in weight and traction, but a disadvantage in acceleration and handling. It shares its stats with the Badwagon, the Steel Driver, the Standard ATV, and the GLA.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Tri-Speeder boosts speed and weight, but lowers acceleration and handling. It now exclusively shares its stats with the Steel Driver and the Bone Rattler. CPU Wario uses the Tri-Speeder with Off-Road tires, Morton uses it with the Monster tires, and Wendy can be seen riding this kart with the Retro Off-Road tires. Link is also seen using this kart occasionally, but pairs it up with the Triforce Tires instead. Additionally, Metal Mario pairs it with the Metal tires.

Trivia

  • This is the only non-DLC kart body in the game to not be raised above the Monster, Hot Monster, and Cushion tires. Instead, they are placed on the direct axles, similar to ATVs and bikes.
  • Its engine sound is actually a combination of three different sounds.
    • The idling and revving sound is unique for this vehicle, while the acceleration and boosting sounds are the same as Standard ATV and Jet Bike respectively.
  • The Tri-Speeder is one of the two only vehicle bodies in the game to have Mushroom Pistons, the other being the Flame Rider.
