Guess Who?

By: Reversinator (talk)

#1: All right, listen up Slick. I am a phantom of a steeple that used to haunt a nearby town. That stupid red hat guy wanted his little treasure. He beat me, he got it, but I beat him. I stole his identity and claimed everything he did. I thought that I had gotten rid of him, but he came back. I gave him a challenge and I cheated with it, but he still beat me. I ran back to the steeple in terror. Then, I had his own partners fight against him! It was glorious! But his stupid girlfriend helped him save the day. I was transformed back into who I really am, and cowered elsewhere. Who am I?

#2:I am a intellectual character. My name, plus a prefix, means beautiful in another language. I only appeared in one game, but I was a collectible in two other games. I am very similar to someone else who appeared in only one game, but was collectible in one more game. I was a student of somebody but later became his assistant. I have a tendency to break the wall between games and gamers. Who am I?

Cooking Guide

by Baby Mario Bloops (talk)

Welcome to this month's Cooking Guide. This time around, we won't have any special guest, so just your host.

Today I will show you have to make the delicious snack time treat, Yoshi Cookie!

Instead of the usual way, I will show you a better, more scrumptious way to make the cookie. But first, you need the following:

  • A Yoshi Egg
  • A bag of Cake Mix
  • 1/2 Pound of fruit
  • Mixing Bowl and a spoon
  • Yoshi Head Cookie Cutter
  • Flat oven pan and parchment paper
  • An oven (pre-heated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Frosting
  1. Steal a Yoshi Egg from their village on the hot island (make sure they don't see you).
  2. Find a Yellow Shy Guy in the playroom, and jump him until he gives you the cake mix.
  3. Buy some fruit, preferrably Melons.
  4. Take to a kitchen, and throw the ingredients into the mixing bowl.
  5. Stir with spoon until creamy, which should be around 8 minutes.
  6. Pour batter on parchment-covered pan, and use cookie cutter to make it look professional (Dispose/consume extra batter).
  7. Put in oven for approximately 10.5 minutes, or until a golden brown.
  8. Take out, and once cool, use frosting of choice to make a Yoshi face.
  9. If done correctly, you will have a nice snack for any occasion, just make sure you never tell a Yoshi what you used...

Fake Interview

by Baby Mario Bloops (talk)

Hello all Users and 'Shroomers, this is your interviewer Baby Mario Bloops with your Fake Interview of the month. Today, I'm going to interview Luigi! With never left, let's us begin! Baby Mario Bloops: Luigi, let me start will how was your latest adventure?

Luigi: It-a okay, now that me brother, Mario saved the Princess again.

Baby Mario Bloops: I hear a hint of anger, are you jealous?

Luigi: What's make say-a that? Of course I am! He's the one that's always the center of attention!

Baby Mario Bloops: That's true, but your a main character in the Mario series!

Luigi: Yes, but I'm-a always second compared to Mario!

Baby Mario Bloops: You stared in many games as equal as Mario, especially in the your guy's series.

Luigi: It wasn't bad, but did you see how-a many times they didn't know my name? How I was always being laughed at? How everyone still cared about only Mario?

Baby Mario Bloops: ...Okay, lets not use that reference. How about Luigi's Mansion? You had to save Mario, and it was all about you.

Luigi: That was a horrible experience, and I never want-a go through that again. I-a only save Mario because he had to pay the house rent.

Baby Mario Bloops: And here I though you two got along just perfectly. Your brothers, you suppose to hate each other, but not like how your stating it.

Luigi: Ha! We were-a forced to because Shigeru Miyamoto made rules that we are not allowed to show any kind of hatred in the Mario games...

Baby Mario Bloops: Sorry to interrupt, but isn't one rule involve not breaking the fourth wall?

Luigi: Yes, that is the important rul--Uh oh. I got-a go, thanks for the interview, and see you in the next Mario game, maybe not Super Mario Galaxy 2, but....(gone before he can finish his statement)

Baby Mario Bloops: No! Now we have to wait for a few month before we can learn what he was about to tell us about. Anyways, that wraps up another interesting interview. See you next month, and enjoy the rest of the Fake News!!!

Fake Sports

by Ralphfan (talk)

On January 2nd, Waluigi Stadium was abuzz. However, it wasn't the revving up of car engines, or the screams of brawlers. It was the bouncing and shooting of basketballs! Team Waluigi and Team Yoshi faced off in an all-out, no-holds-barred outdoor showdown, and the visitng Team Yoshi emerged victorious, 75-69. The game followed a smooth back-and-forth tempo, and Yoshi led all scorers with 21 points, including a pair of late three-pointers to seal the deal. The teams face off again on the 21st at Yoshi Arena.

Fake Characters

by LaLaLand123 (talk)

Hey kids! Are you sick of all the old characters? It gets boring with just the same old characters. Well turn that frown upside down because in the new game, Super Mario Moonlight, (named to be the anti game of Super Mario Sunshine) will have a wide variety of new characters. Some of these characters include: Shadow Luigi, Shadow Wario, Shadow Princess Shroob, Papa Wario (Wario's Father), and even Mini Bowser! This is very exciting that new characters can now be introduced to the the Mario games. This game comes out in 2016!

Brawl Tactics

by FunkyK38 (talk) and Monteyaga (talk)

It's BRAWL TACTICS! I'm happy because I got Brawl for Christmas, so I can write better articles now. This month should make all princess fans happy.

This month, I'm doing one of my four favorite Brawlers: Princess Peach! Yes, I know, all of you who say Peach is a weak character and blah blah blah, but I think Peach is AWESOME! Her attacks are easier to use than Zelda's, and she's quite fierce when brawling.

Okay, first move: Toad. For me, this is like using Meta Knight's Dimensional Cape: I haven't mastered it yet. But I do know the effects can be surprising. For instance, take a fully charged laser blast from Samus. Toad reflects it as a huge cloud of green dust. Or take a fireball on the Castle Siege stage. Something that wouldn't be too intimidating is turned into a rocket launcher. Enough said there.

Second move: Peach Bomber. "Ha- Cha!" and an explosion of hearts appear. For me, I use this move very often, sometimes too often. Fast enemies will drive you nuts if you are trying to use this, because they will activate their shield or they will simply get out of the way. But, this attack is very powerful, and it is very effective at taking out the Smash Ball.

Third move: Peach Parasol. A cute parasol that completes Peach's appearance and that does damage comes out. This move is very useful at taking out the Smash ball, since you can line it up and get 5-6 hits out of a single move, which is sweet. BUT, this move is a recovery move, and sometimes it fails. When you don't get close enough to the top of the stage, Peach can't grab the edge, and she will most often sail to a KO.

Fourth move: Vegetable. I don't use this move very often because if I'm throwing something, it has to have enough power to KO an opponent, and this isn't an explosive, which are also very useful.

And now... Peach Blossom! A beautiful move that is extremely handy in All- Star mode. Think about it: Peaches that restore 5% damage, FREE of charge! You won't have to use a heart container to heal yourself. It also puts enemies to sleep, which gives you time to grab items and eat peaches. But beware: if you are playing on a stage with moving parts, such as Pokemon Stadium 2, the opponent will wake up quickly. Opponents must also be on the ground for this attack to work, if they are in the air flying, they will stay awake.

That's all for this month, everyone! I hope you see the value of using Princess Peach, and if you don't, you're not trying hard enough.

Director's Notes

YellowYoshi127

Hello 'Shroomers! Welcome to the latest issue of the shroom. I am sorry to say i am retiring from the shroom and maybe the wiki. I will still pop up from time to time for a little vandal stopping or edits but not often for reasons known to the core shroom staff. Anyway, Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year as well! From next issue, PaperPikachu will be director and it is up to him who his co-director will be (if he wants one).

  • Joseph363 has quit and left his position vacant
  • Clyde1998 hasn't handed in his section again and it is up to PP whether he is fired.
  • Lots of vacant spaces, if your interested, go to shroomfooter and click signups.
  • Director Election is on, cast your vote!

Paper Pikachu

Hello those out there in the world wide web! I apologize for the absence, my computer is acting up. Not much here to say, YellowYoshi bascially said it all. If you think you are suited to be co-director, PM me on the forums (our forums, what else?), and I will decide who (if anyone) I will appoint.

Co-Director's Notes

Hey, this is MG1 here! I have some comments on this issue. This issue was OK nice but we still need a few more staff to fill in the empty sections. I would also like to note that, as the co-director with SMB, you have to send your sections to both me and SMB in case of more situations like this. Now I hope you like the rest of Pipe Plaza and read on!

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

The game New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a 2D, plat forming, Mario game. The game is a remake of it’s counter part New Super Mario Bros. for the DS released in 2006. This game was released in November 15th 2009 and has received a high rating in some of the most popular gaming sources, IGN rated it an 8.9 out of 10, X-Play rated it 4 stars out of five, and so on.

The game is based off of the original Super Mario Bros. games (Super Mario Bros. 1,2,3 and Super Mario World) in so much as the way the levels are set up all the way down to the background music and sound affects. The game has many various items such as the mushroom, star, and from the DS version the mini mushroom; The game also has new items such as the propeller suit (Allowing a person to float by shaking the Wii remote.),and the penguin suit (Allowing one to shoot balls of ice and slide on blocks of ice.)

The story of the game is like the original Mario Bros. games, the princess gets captured by Bowser (or his kids), and Mario/Luigi has to go save her traveling through 8 worlds (Mushroom Plains, Sea of Sand, Penguin Playground, Sparkle Ocean, Toxic Forest, Stone Head Mountains, Cloud Castle, and Bowser’s Volcano.)

After beating world 8 the player will have access to the secret world 9 (Rainbow Path), it has a total of 8 levels one for each world, but a person can not play any of the levels without collecting all of the gold star coins (also a returning factor from the DS version) from the designated world.

The game features play with the wii remote only or you can play by adding the nunchuck. The game also has a four player mode where four people can play together in adventure mode aor they can play the coin battle and even a free play mode, players 2-4 have the option of playing as Yellow Toad, Blue Toad and Luigi.

The game also allows you to use warp cannons, also from the previous game, to warp to different worlds just like any of the other games from the Super Mario Bros. series.

Overall this game is a fun, and exciting game made for kids and family members of all ages. I rate this game a 9 out of 10 for entertainment but to get the full experience consider trying it!

Welcome

Welcome to the 1st annual Ultimate Character Tournament! I'm Ralphfan, and I'll be your host. What is the tournament? It's a series of polls in a bracket to determine the best character from the Mario, Sonic, Kirby, DK, Zelda, Banjo, and Conker games! Right now, we're in the sixth round, and you can vote in the polls listed below. Meetings were held in #mwUCT, which can be accessed here, on Userpedia, Darkmyst, Mibbit, mIRC, PJIRC, Chatzilla, or etc. We are also on the forum!

Click here to see the bracket

Meetings

Meeting 1

SUMMARY

SMB and I covered the Banjo and Conker series with help from MG1 and SLNO.

Agenda

We determined a schedule:

  • 9/16: Conker and Banjo
  • 9/23: Zelda and DK
  • 9/30: Sonic and Kirby
  • 10/7 - ?: Mario

Mario might take a long time.

Entrants

14 Conker and 7 Banjo characters were accepted, and 4 more from Conker are on the bubble:

  • Jolly Roger
  • Gobi
  • Cheato
  • Roysten

Meeting 2

Agenda

New schedule:

  • 9/16: Conker and Banjo
  • 9/23: Zelda
  • 9/30: DK
  • 10/7: Sonic
  • 10/14: Kirby
  • 10/21 - ?: Mario

Entrants

We added 18 Zelda characters, and two others are on the bubble:

  • Agahnim

Agenda

  • 9/16: Conker and Banjo
  • 9/23: Zelda
  • 9/30: DK
  • 10/7: Sonic
  • 10/14: Kirby
  • 10/21 - ?: Mario

Entrants

We added another 17, and put one on the bubble:

  • Super Sonic

Meeting 5

SUMMARY We covered Kirby. SMB was my only assistant, but he did a great job!

Agenda

  • 9/16: Conker and Banjo
  • 9/23: Zelda
  • 9/30: DK
  • 10/7: Sonic
  • 10/14: Kirby
  • 10/21 - ?: Mario

Entrants

We added 11 characters and 0 maybes.

Meeting 6

SUMMARY We began Mario and got about halfway through because we ran long. We got through every game from Jumpman to SMRPG. We're going in chronological order by when the games were released. MG1 was there for most of the meeting; Tehchomps was very active as well; Packy was there for a good chunk of time; SMB, SLNO, and Yoshario also pitched in. Hopefully, we'll finish Mario next week, but I have the feeling it will go into November 4th's meeting.

Agenda

  • 9/16: Conker and Banjo
  • 9/23: Zelda
  • 9/30: DK
  • 10/7: Sonic
  • 10/14: Kirby
  • 10/21 - 11/4?: Mario

We hope to finish next week, but it'll probably run through the start of the November 4th meeting.

Entrants

We added 46 more characters and 0 maybes.

Meeting 7

SUMMARY We finished the Mario series. SMB was there, but busy, SLNO was there for a while, and Tucayo dropped by for a while, and Tehchomps was there for a bit.

Agenda

  • 9/16: Conker and Banjo
  • 9/23: Zelda
  • 9/30: DK
  • 10/7: Sonic
  • 10/14: Kirby
  • 10/21 - 10/28: Mario
  • 11/4 - ?: Brawl, Seeding, and Bracket

Entrants

We added another 63 characters for a total of 109 from the Mario series and 194 total.

Meeting 8

SUMMARY We did final touch-ups, covered SSB, and began seeding, but we didn't get much done, due to the World Series and people not really wanting to pay attention. However, I was able to work with a few users during the week, so we were able to make progress nonetheless.
For seeding, we have 222 characters. To narrow it down to 128, we will need to eliminate 94 of them. Therefore, 34 of the entrants are being given first-round byes and will advance directly to the second round. The next 94 will be matched up against the bottom 94.

Agenda

Continue seeding and fill out bracket.

Entrants

We added 28 characters, for a final? (unintentional) count of 222. I was going for something between 128 and 256, so it worked out well.

Meeting 9

We worked on the second tier of seeding. SLNO was there for a bit; Tucky and MG1 were the major contributors. We didn't add any new characters, but MG1 suggested the SMG bosses; you can now vote whether to include them or not.

Meeting 10

MG1, SMB, and SLNO helped nearly round out the second tier of seeding in a short meeting. It looks like the SMG bosses are going to pass; the poll will close at the start of the next meeting.

Meeting 11

MG1, SMB, Noah, and Tucky finished out the seeding groups. Since the Galaxy bosses pass, we finished with 231 characters. We're going to organize them into a bracket and set up dates beginning next week.

Meeting 12

MG1, SMB, Tucky, SLNO, and Noah helped organize the bracket. Because of the number of characters, 25 characters get byes, or free passes, to the second round. They have been placed throughout the bracket. We plan to open the first round of the tournament on January 6th or 13th.

Info

The bracket

Dates

Here are the dates:

  • Round 1: 1/7-1/27
  • Round 2: 1/28-2/24

Director's Notes

by Tucayo (talk)

Hello readers. I am your now-going director, Tucayo! And here we have what is likely to be my last Director Notes, at least in a while…
Let’s see what’s new in this issue.

  • Sadly, we won´t have more User Brawls, due to the changes made some issues ago. It perhaps will be found in Userpedia in a future.
  • Yoshario retired, disappeared, went on hiatus, or whatever, thing is, Ralphfan helped us in doing his job.
  • Check the election at 4pm EST for the official results, and the announcement of the new Core ‘Staff!

I haven’t got much more to say, so I want to thank you for sticking with The ‘Shroom this year. Thanks for reading, writing, or directing. Thanks everyone, I will miss directing The ‘Shroom.
