Upcoming Games

By Paper Pikachu (talk)

Hi everybody, The Writer Formerly Known as P. Trainer, Paper Pikachu here, welcoming you to another section of Upcoming Games. I apologise for my absence in the previous issue, as there was a family tragedy and I had to go offline for a while. For those who already know, I appreciate you support. However, the ‘Shroom must go on, and I will to, featuring one of the most anticipated games (or at least around my house)…

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

The return of console platforming for Mario, and it looks like Nintendo is going all out for it. Bowser, Bowser Jr., the Koopalings, and Kamek all in one game. Need I say more? Yes, because it’s about to get better. Yoshi’s are back to the platforming world, with their tongues allowing them to eat many different objects (such as Hammer’s), and their classic flutter jump ability returning as well.

The intro has also been revealed, featuring the Koopalings and Bowser Jr. infiltrating Princess Peach’s Birthday Party, where Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, and Yellow Toad are guests. After revealing themselves, Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings throw the cake on the Princess, and run off, throwing it into an airship as Mario and the gang give chase, after which the Propeller Mushroom and Penguin Suit are blasted into the sky, scattering them throughout the kingdom. The Koopalings will later be fought in the Castles of each world, in order being Larry Koopa, Roy Koopa, Lemmy Koopa, Wendy O. Koopa, Iggy Koopa, Morton Koopa Jr., and Ludwig Von Koopa. At the end of each World-End Fortress, Kamek appears and drops Magic Dust around the arena, adding a more challenging element then when the Koopaling was fought earlier. For example, Lemmy Koopa gets a larger ball to stand on. Bowser Jr. is fought in the World 4 Airship, bringing with him a Koopa Clown Car of his own, and is assumed to be fought in the final world. Each world also retains a theme, and for the first 8 worlds, the themes are, in order, Plains, Desert, Ice, Seaside, Forest, Mountains, Clouds, and Bowser’s Land. The theme for World 9 however, has yet to be revealed.

It is to be released in Australia on Nov. 12, North America on Nov. 15, Europe on Nov. 20, and Japan on Dec. 3.
