From the Mushroom Vaults: Shine Get, Got, Grabbed

by 3dhammer.gif 3D, --> 3dhammer.gif

Hello, kiddies, and welcome to another episode of Desperate Gamers.

This month, I'll be showing all you gamers tearing your hair out how to get some major-league shortcut on Mario Kart DS and grab 15 Secret Shines from 'Sunshine. Get ready, get set, SHINE!

You are my Shine Sprite, My only Shine Sprite…

You are my Shine Sprite when times are gray…

For the next few months, there'll be a section devoted to 15 new Secret Shines. Don't worry, after this issue there'll be THREE (three, 3, count 'em, three: uno, dos, tres) sections. So dig in and discover the shiny secrets you've been missing so long.

Project Shine: Delfino

Yup, July we are covering Delfino Plaza's Shines. Let's move!

#1

To the left of the starting point, there is a pair of double doors. Blast 'em down with the Turbo Nozzle (you'll have to get a good bit through the game to unlock that).

#2

In the large tower next to the main river, there's a lone Pianta. Talk to him, give him a coin, and he'll throw you to a secret Shine.

#3

On the tower with the entrance to Gelato Beach, use the Rocket Nozzle to get above the city. Hover above the little cap with a star, and at the nozzle's highest point, ground-pound into the cap to get a Shine.

#4

Paddle to the small off-shore island with a stranded Pianta and scan the sky for a yellow bird. Squirt it to let loose a Shine. Squirting endangered island species to get bonuses. C'mon, how fun is that?

#5

On the tower with a goop-covered bell, simply use the Rocket Nozzle to blast the bell. Squeaky clean, garden fresh and crispy! Wait, that was the blue cooler ad…

#6

This one is the same as the previous one… except for the fact that it's different. Ha ha. Head over to the tower opposite the first one and pressure-wash the other bell. Huttah! Shiny Shine in the tower! Wait. IN the tower?! To get to it, you'll have to go to the building opposite and pound the manhole. Once underground, scoot to the building and climb the tower.

#7

This has to be the most obvious Shine. Simply spray the huge Shine on the arch over the town center. Yay! Shine!

#8/9

At the town center, barge in the black door and play a game of Crate Stomp with the pudgy Pianta. You can do it twice for two Shines. There's an awesome glitch here… but you can find it on Youtube yourself…

#10

In the northeast corner of the town center there's a double door with double Pianta guards. Blast through it with the Turbo Nozzle for a secret level. Can you guess how you get the Shine? Right! You beat the level, genius!

#11

Under the archway leading to the canal is a hole. You must use a rocket

nozzle on a passing boat to blast up it, or you can wait until the village

becomes flooded. It's a red coin hunt, and one a tough one. Good luck. Har har.

#12

This is a complicated secret level to get to (what else is new?). Take a Yoshi to the manhole on the platform preceding the platform which has the cannon that blasts Mario to Pinna Park (you with me so far?). Take the manhole to the island with the Pianta that's hungry for bananas. Wait for a boat to come by, a boat NOT heading into the canal, and take it to a high platform in the middle of nowhere. Jump on it and wait for another boat to a make a go-around to you. Take it to the island. Have Yoshi spray the buttery goo off the pipe and hop in. Now guess what? After that complicated procedure, you can take a nice, complicated red-coin hunt to soothe your nerves. Chamomile tea, dear?

#13

Over at the tower that transports Mario to Gelato Beach, spray the sand around it. If you're lucky, you'll find a Shine. Now you know how those guys at the beach with metal detectors feel.

#14

On the little island by the fruit stands, jump on and swim to the left. A yellow bird will fly by. Enter Mario-Cam and spray it. The Shine will oh-so-conveniently appear on the cliffs by the lighthouse. Grab Yoshi, use Yoshi. Get Shine, use Shine.

#15

To get an extra Shine Sprite on a fairly easy sub-world, get the rocket FLUDD attachment and head towards the red cannon at Delfino Plaza. Swim along the right side near the rocks and pass the sideways hanging palm trees. Just past it, charge your rocket and jump just before the meter fills up. You will be able to enter a pipe on a tiny cliff. The mission is to collect eight Red Coins on one supply of water -- fill up before going there. There are two obvious Red Coins sitting around. To get the other Coins, shoot the red bird that flies around, extinguish the man on fire, jump on the two Flowerheads, shoot one Purple Flowerhead from a distance and jump on him, look around the high grass for an opening where a Red Coin lies just below (look near or around the edges of this area).

Thyme Time to Fly!

Use these little shortcuts to your advantage in Time Trials, Wi-Fi, or really hard Vs. matches. I'm not listing little shortcuts that you can use by just using mushrooms on rough ground; these are not so obvious cuts in the road.

Delfino Square: After the narrow alleyways, go left, heading toward the pier. Use a mushroom to blast over the water and onto the dock. If you choose to skip this one, there's a narrow, mud-filled alleyway just before the dock. Use a mushroom in it to gain an edge. Or use Green Shells to blast open crates. Some contain special items!

Desert Hills: Use a mushroom to cut to the left of the brick pyramid near the start of the race.

Bowser Castle: On the turntable, go along with the turning wheel, passing the first exit. There's a small tunnel shortcut.

Donut Plains 1: After the bridge, use a mushroom to race through the small gap in the block fence.

Choco Island 2: At the starting line, just go straight, using a mushroom on the rough spot. There's a small gap in the block wall.

Sky Garden: Use mushrooms on the two little ramps (the wooden ones with red arrows on them).

Yoshi Circuit: Use a mushroom under Yoshi's armpit.

Challenge of the Month

These are now discontinued. Does anyone even read these?!

And that, my good friend, is that. See you next time. Adios. Adieu. 3dhammer.gif 3D, And whatever other ways you say goodbye in. 3dhammer.gif

Review: Super Mario World

by Phoenix Rider

Phoenix Rider here, your roving reviewer for games new and old. This month we’re taking a stroll down memory lane with Super Mario World. Now, for those of you who don’t own a SNES, no worries. It’s a mere $8 to purchase off the Wii Shop Channel. You’ve probably got more than that in loose change beneath your couch.

Gameplay- ****

There’s a reason why this game’s a classic. It introduced Yoshi! Well, not really, but it introduced him as we know him. The levels are challenging, but not impossibly challenging, save a few. Finding the secret levels is a great challenge as well. Caped Mario’s controls can take some getting used to, but once you do, you’ll find it’s one of the best, if not the best power in the game. The game also has its share of secrets, most notably the Star Roads and the Special World. You’ll have to search everywhere and do some backtracking to find them all, though. Controls are well thought-out, though knock a star off the category if you’re playing on the Wii with the Gamecube controller. Like the advice blip says when you start up the game: You will need the Classic Controller. Or you can just play the real deal on the SNES and not worry about it. All in all, the story is lacking, but it is a Mario platformer, and an early one at that, so can’t blame the game too much for that.

Sound- ***+

Tunes in this game are bright, cheery and fun, just as you’d expect a Mario game to be. Even beneath the dark exterior of the Castle and Ghost House themes, there’s a nice feel to them. Sound effects are another matter. I found most of them annoying after a short while, mostly the Koopa shell kicking sound effect. Still, it wasn’t enough to hurt the category too much.

Graphics- ***+

I’m going to be fair and rate the graphics for the SNES’s time. The palette is nice and diversified, even if there is an overabundance of those primary colors. This is Mario after all. Still, there’s very few shades here. The game demonstrates its potential greatest after the Special World is completed. Not only does the entire scenery perform a pallete swap, but most, if not all of the enemies are replaced with totally different sprites. The demonstration of such a great use of memory so early in the games’ timeline boosted its score in this category.

Replay Value- ***

Well, you can go back and try and unlock all the secret exits. But the main reason for the score here should be pretty obvious: The game is flat-out fun to play. Most platformers lose a bit during the second time through, but Super Mario World is great for a second, or even a third run-through. The game’s got 95 levels in all, so it’s got a good meat to it. Levels will feel fresh the second time through because there’s so many of them in between.

Overall- ****

Highly recommend this one for all SNES and Wii owners. It’s fun, just challenging enough, and long. For a platformer, it’s a pretty good one. It has many paths you can take, more so even than newer platformers like New Super Mario Bros., making it a little less linear. Super Mario World will be a welcome addition to your library.

Rogue Port Black Market

Recently discovered by our spies (we have spies don’t tell anyone) that Mario and Charlieton have made some suspicious deals, one of which is Charlieton selling Mario Wario’s clothing. A few weeks back Wario reported stolen clothes; these clothes are so hideous they’ve been banned. Now we asked ourselves why he would want to steal such hideous clothes. We would soon find out. We approached Charlieton and made a deal with him he’d be cleared of the Black Market selling if he’d help us. We gave him a pair of fancy clothing worn by Luigi. We set him up. We caught the suspect, Mario. Soon after Mario stated he was giving the clothes to the poor and was cleared of the charges. Now we have to deal with Luigi, hows mad at us for taking his clothes, till next time.

After talking with the hefty security guards we spoke with a few of the criminals.

~~MONTY MOLE SPECIAL~~ --> Zess T. Edition <--

Fwad2.PNG

WARNING: I'm quite serious this time. Last issue, I saw a strange, tall 'stached guy step into my domains. Sir, you changing your clothes from red to green and carrying a Vacuum Cleaner will not, I repeat, will NOT change the fact I hate you. Do not try anything. I have hired guards this time. I'm serious. I can sue you and call lawyers and all that.

Welcome to Zess T.'s Cookin'! I'm Zess T., best chef in Rogueport, and this is our spectacular second issue! Woo! Due to the mass amount of positive comments received last time (my GMail inbox was full!), I have decided to make all of your mortal dreams true and feature what I was asked for. This particular e-mail caught my interest:

Dear Zess T.:

Hello, my love. The day our eyes met was a fantastic, romantic day indeed. The curves in your limbs, the perfectly round mushroom cap of yours, and that ever-so-clean white hair... Yum. Makes me want to-

What the...?! *cough* Hehehe... Uh.. must have have been a joke by some silly kid. I'm sorry (or not, hah!). This is the actual e-mail:

dear zess tee, chef deluxe:

hi im ur biggest fan! i wuv ur cooking ways and want to grow up 2 be just liek you!!! i was wondering if you could cook teh secret monty mole dish in teh next issue, cuz i have been wondering how 2 maek it for a while now. thnx in advance. toadbetty.

Spiffy, eh? Sure. So, since I'm so nice, I have decided to do what they have asked me! That's how nice I am. Remind your parents to buy Zess T. merchandise, and I'll keep preparing your favorite stuff. So, anyway... here's the ingredient list for the MONTY MOLE SPECIAL ~ZESS T. EDITION~:

Ingredients (4 people):

  • Fresh Poshley Heights Pasta - 500 grams
  • Cleft Feces - 30 grams
  • Mt. Rugged Rocks - 210 grams
  • Super Sweet Awesome Zess T. Sauce - 1 packet
  • Blablanadon Eggs - 3 units
  • Salt - 10 grams
  • Keelhaul Key Blackberry Jam - As much as you consider convenient.

Note the items may be hard or costy to obtain, but Monty Moles enjoy the high life, so deal with it.

Preparation

To start off, boil the pasta in a preferably French metal pot at untimed fire. Make you sure you bake the pasta every now and then so it doesn't overheat. Once the water begins to evaporate, throw in the salt with extreme care. What? That you have to include the salt as soon as you fill the pot with hot water? Nah, that's a myth. Don't believe that. Believe in Zess T. She's always right. Anyway, as the pasta boils, select a rather large table and leave both the Cleft Feces and the Mt. Rugged Rocks on its surface. As an additional tip, it is recommendable to have Hyper Cleft feces, as they have... well, an hyper taste. And they give you energy.

Anyway, use your imagination and form shapes with the feces and the rocks. I myself love making hearts and lips, because they highlight my feminity, which SOME losers say I lack (I'm looking at you, Don Pianta!). Once you think your shapes are perfect, your pasta should be ready. Turn off the fire and get rid of the water. Drinking it may be a good idea, especially in cold days. Don't worry, it tastes EXCELLENT. Once the water's gone and your pasta is alone in the pot, grab the packet of Super Sweet Awesome Zess T. Sauce (which is 30% off just this week!) and scatter the whole content into the pot, hopefully in different places. Mix well and you'll soon see the sauce work - the pasta will turn gray! It looks terrible, but it tastes fantastic. And we're not even done yet!

Boil the Blablanadon eggs until you can hear the baby Blablanadons inside screaming. Quickly throw your boiled eggs into the pasta and squish them against the pot's walls. Once again, mix well, and add salt if necessary. Go back to your artistic structures of Rocks and Feces and smell them. They should smell like... well, feces with rocks. If they don't, then wait a bit. Once they do, put the whole shapes into the oven at its maximum for around 15 minutes. If you don't know how to control your oven, then you might find your house burning uncontrollably. But, heh, that's only if you're the biggest fool ever (which you probably are...).

Next step is easy, if not extremely obvious. Take out your pieces of art and serve the pasta in separate dishes. Now position your art on the edges of the dish (North, South, East and West look especially nice) and cover them with the Keelhaul Key Blackberry Jam. The result should be outstanding. It will, for some scientific reason I'm not going to explain, freeze. Great! It is recommended for the pasta to be served warm, as it's neat to taste the cold feces and then the warm pasta. Or so say the Monty Moles.

Well, that's it. I have revealed to you, a simple mortal, the secret of the Monty Mole Special. The recipe which has been cooked by Monty Moles and that somehow keep them young forever, is now here for you to cook. The best occasion, undoubtly, is for when you go to one of those crazy Monty Mole discos with your friends - they might even let you in free for bringing something so delicious and delectable.

Oh, look at the time! It's late. I have a date with my dear Toads-- er, an appointment with the dentist, and I have to hurry out of here. Next month, we'll be offering something that will send your tongue to Paradise, and your teeth to... well, the other place. But really, it's worth eating, even if you die afterwards. If this time we took things to THE NEXT LEVEL, then next time we will take things TO THE NEXT NEXT LEVEL. Silly people like you probably don't understand this complicated terminology, but it basically means it'll be awesome.

Zess T. out! And bon appetite!

Upcoming Games

My Bloody Valentine

This is my first time doing the Upcoming Games section, but, I tried my best here.

Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart Wii's logo.

Mario Kart Wii game looks quite interesting, actually.

As a Mario fan, I have played my share of Mario Kart games. Compared with Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, this game looks like it will do better in the market. The new interactive functions on the Wii, as well as the Wii Wheel being released with it, will definitely make this game a big success amongst us Mario fans. The release for this game will be in early 2008 for America, with a Japanese, European, and Australian release later in the year.

Some of the characters confirmed are Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Wario, Waluigi, Toad, Bowser, and even Baby Mario.

Another interesting factor would be the removal of Karts, and the entrance of actual cars, that suit the character, ranging from a Hot Rod for Waluigi, to a Baby Pram for Baby Mario.

Mario Party DS

Mario Party DS promotional artwork: Logo
Mario Party DS's official logo.

Many have loved the Mario Party series for quite a while, since its original release in 1998. After the failed attempt at a Mario Party for the GameBoy Advance, Nintendo has finally taken a try at Mario Party DS.

Hopefully this game does better than its prequel, Mario Party DS features similar gameplay to previous Mario Party installments. The story to the game, is that Bowser shrinks everyone to a very tiny size, and they now have to get back to their normal sizes, by beating Bowser. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, Yoshi, and Toad have been confirmed as playable characters. [[It is planned for a release November 19, 2007 for America, November 23, 2007 for Europe, but a Japanese or Australian release hasn't been revealed yet.

The Nintendo DS's dual-screen and touch screen features will definitely show a unique brand of Mini-Games, and new style of play.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

One of the most anticipated games, Super Smash Bros. Brawl continues on the typical fighting style of the very popular, Super Smash Bros. series.

Solid Snake
Solid Snake, the very first 3rd Party character in Super Smash Bros.

The game brings back the gameplay from the last few games, returning with old and new characters. The new characters that have been confirmed, are Pit, Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Ike, Pokémon Trainer, Diddy Kong, Meta Knight and Solid Snake. This game is notable for introducing the first Third-Party character into Super Smash Bros., with more to come. The game will support control of the Wii Remote+Wii Nunchuk, Wii Remote by itself, the Wii Classic Controller, and the Nintendo GameCube Controller. The release for this game will be December 3, 2007 for America, with a Japanese release shortly after. Europe and Australia will be getting this game next year.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Subspace Emissary logo.

Probably one of the most interesting aspects of this game, is the new story mode, The Subspace Emissary. Unlike previous games, which had the player fight numerous other characters in a typical fighting style, the Subspace Emissary introduces unique Bosses, an actual Story Plot, and new gameplay into Super Smash Bros.

To see more information, go to the Smash Bros. Dojo

Super Mario Galaxy

Boxart for Super Mario Galaxy.
The Box Art of Super Mario Galaxy.

Super Mario Galaxy, the sequel to Super Mario Sunshine has been a source of controversy amongst many fans. "Will it do good, will it do bad", considering the unpopularity of Super Mario Sunshine. However, this game seems to be on everyone's wishlist.

Super Mario Galaxy stars Mario, who now has to journey into space, to find Princess Peach, who has been kidnapped by an unknown villain. He travels through several different obstacles, unique to the new Mushroom Universe. Mario will now have new abilities as well, including the Bee Suit, and Boo Suit, which allow him to fly and move through walls, respectively. Bowser has been confirmed to appear, most likely as a Boss character, and a new female character, Princess Rosetta, will be appearing. As to what her role is, exactly, is currently unknown.

The Wii's functions will be used greatly in this game, as well as a new multiplayer function, which was absent in the original two games. The game will be released in America on November 12, 2007, and released just 4 days later for Europe, and most likely Australia. A Japan release has yet to be confirmed.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Mario and Sonic have always been rivals in the marketing business, with Nintendo and Sega constantly mocking each other. They finally teamed up to work on a crossover between the two games. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games will be the first time Mario and Sonic have ever appeared in the same game together.

All of the confirmed characters.

The game will be featured on both the Wii and Nintendo DS. Shigeru Miyamoto stated that he did this, because both consoles have unique functions, that can provide enhanced controls, and gameplay. There will be over 20 characters featured in the game, and will have a wide range of Olympic Events. At this current moment, 10 characters have been confirmed; Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Tails, Yoshi, Knuckles, Peach, Amy Rose, Bowser, and Dr. Eggman. Daisy, Waluigi, Wario, and Shadow have been hinted for the game as well. Referees will also be watching over the game; Cream, Toad, Lakitu, Charmy Bee, and Shy Guy have been confirmed as referees.

The game will be released on November 20, 2007 in America, with the Wii release of the game on November 23, 2007 for Australia. Europe and Japan will get the game during the Christmas Holidays.

DK Jungle Climber

DK: Jungle Climber boxart.
Jungle Climber's Box Art.

Now, I haven't really played many Donkey Kong games, but I do know as a fact, that they are really good. DK Jungle Climber is the sequel to DK: King of Swing. With the new Donkey Kong Country graphics, and new DS gameplay, this game appears to be a rather worthwhile game. It also has Multiplayer options, allowing up to 4 people to play the game. The story circles around these Banana aliens, called the Xananab's, who send Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong on a quest to find the magic crystal banana. Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong and Funky Kong are all playable characters, with Cranky Kong, Wrinkly Kong, Candy Kong, and King K. Rool acting as NPC's. The game has already been released in Japan, with a September 10, 2007 release for America shortly after. Europe will get the game on October 12, 2007, and an Australian release has yet to be decided.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast

Barrel Blast's Logo.

Originally known as Donkey Kong Bongo Blast', then known as Donkey Jet, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast is the official name for this game. It is one of the few Donkey Kong racing games, after Diddy Kong Racing, and the remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS.

This racing game is definitely, as every character rides on a barrel car, which hovers in the air using jets. This also allows them to ride through the stages at alarming speeds. The game will have full support of the Wii Remote and Wii Nunchuk. The game features 17 playable characters, and 16 definitely race courses. It also has a very large amount of unlockable characters, and also debuts several Kritter characters. Barrel Blast was released in Japan on June 28, 2007, and will be released in America on October 8, 2007. No European or Australian release has been decided yet, however.

Donkey Kong Wii

Not much is known about Donkey Kong Wii, so I'm afraid I can't say much about it. All I have to say, is that it being an adventure Donkey Kong game, like Donkey Kong 64, it will most likely do well amongst Donkey Kong fans.

Donkey Kong: Banana Kingdom

The logo for Donkey Kong: Banana Kingdom.
Banana Kingdom's logo.

Not to sure if I can actually play this or not. I don't go to Arcades, and Donkey Kong: Banana Kingdom will likely be Japan-Only. Regardless, I don't exactly think this game will do well, as Arcades don't seem as popular as they used to be. However, I could be wrong, cos' the Video Game business is full of surprises. We have no release date, nor do we have any real information on the game.

A Koopa’s Revenge

Well Well Well, there’s finally a game that is starring a Koopa Troopa; despite the story the creator has made; it’s still a pretty good game. Here’s the details!!

Story

The story tells the player that there was a Koopa Troopa having Goomba friends in his party. When the Koopa Troopa suddenly went to the “Little Koopa’s Room” to get his time, the party was crashed by Mario, Luigi and even the scared Princess Peach without the Koopa Troopa noticing. Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach crashed the party by simply stomping all of the Koopa Troopa’s friends. When the Koopa Troopa came back from the party, he was sad that Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach crashed the party. There’s one option the poor Koopa Troopa is goanna do, RE-VENGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So the Koopa Troopa has to go over the levels in the game to get revenge to Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach.

Gameplay

The gameplay is like SMB3, duh… Except with a few fix-ups the creator has made for the game. Despite the changes the creator has made, it’s still a good game with a Koopa Troopa around this whole worthless crazy world of “Mama-Mia!!”. The controls are... Meh; find out in the game when you play it. In that part of the game on the map, the player uses the mouse cursor to move the Koopa Troopa to a level the player must proceed to go to the next level; oh sure with not use the SMB3 style… Something has to happen very fast to make an idea. If you leave the level, you lose one life for it, ONE LIFE?? HAHAHAHA!! Plan yourself... To beat the level; it's simple, get to the exit in the level by grabbing the flagpole at the end!!!!!!!!!! However, there are obstacles that the Koopa Troopa will encounter. Some helpful obstacles include the Middle Point where you save your place; and Doors that lead to other parts of the levels in the game. Other times there are ways that you can beat the level and get to a secret level in the game (stolen from SMW, SECRET!!!).

Enemies (Da core part of the gameplay)

Here’s a quick list (as the lazy creator said to make slowly, JKing) of enemies the Koopa Troopa might encounter during levels.

  • Baby Mario: There are four of them in each level. As of, they can be defeated by simply stomping on them or by breathe fire. If the Koopa Troopa defeats all of them without losing a life, the player gets a 1-UP; good FOUR you. Notice that Baby Mario stole Luigi’s, Wario’s and Waluigi’s hat from each Baby Mario? Funny! LOL.
  • Toads (Not those toads that sound like frogs that eat flies): These “Toads” simply walk around part of the area of the level; like Red NON-BLINDED Koopas. If the Koopa Troopa defeats one of them with breathe fire; the player earns one DUMB single Coin, JKing; it’s not that dumb.
  • Yoshis: Yup, like the Toad the creator copied it from; these little critters have various colors in various levels that have different functions in the game. It includes swimming in the lava, flying, and walking, or all as combinations.
  • Birdies (as the creator once again calls that): All they do is stay at the sky with its wings, like the certain type of colored Yoshi. A simple stomp or breathe fire will defeat them.
  • Fire Balls (or Poboboos in the 15 century of NOWHERE!!!): Those living thing simply pop out from the lava, it cannot be defeated as the Koopa Troopa tries to avoid it.
  • Thwomps: Like in SMB3 as they say, they squash Mario or Luigi when they are near to them; avoid it by passing by after the Thwomp takes the hit.
  • Skeletoads: WOW, this is a new low of creating enemies that act like the Dry Bones!!! This dead… er like Toad like bones acts like a Dry Bones; live with it ever it was stomped and recovered itself!!

Remember, there are WAY more enemies ;
“Like Wayoshi’s Rocket Booster, a Rocket Booster that launches… ROCKETS!! Er, yeah; replacing Bullet Bills.!!” Oh come on, even I can make the most original card as possible for my card game. As said, there are more enemies as the creator said. (DUH, -_-)

Items

Here’s some items and objects the little Koopa encountered once again.

  • ? Blocks: Yet simple enough, they normally contain Coins for greedy people to take as their pride. Occasionally, ? Blocks can contain power-ups. Hit them by jumpin’ N punchin’ to get your greedy reward out!!
  • Coins: Another simple thing everyone now knows, you wanna know cuz you don’t play any type of Mario game? Oh fine, 100 coins = 1-Up as math tells you!
  • Shell: Like the mushroom, it’s not nothing like a MUSHR-oom that moves but gives the Koopa Troopa another shell to fit in. Yet, it let’s you break “Brick Blocks”.
  • Fire Flower: Instead of getting to throw fireworks to people, you get to breathe fire to foes like you.
  • Feather: Like said, but instead it gives the Koopa Troopa to grow wings as he uses his wins to reach “Hard to reach” places.
  • Switch: Acticvates a special type of function in the level for a limited time, some are reusable like your trash while some are not like more piece of… garbage!
  • Yoshi Egg: This stolen item from ‘’Mario Kart: Double Dash!!’’ pops out a random item after defeating a flashing Yoshi; it could be a single of COIN-nA! A Shell, a Fire Flower, a Feather; or “ze 1-up na!!”.
  • 1-up: Like the name says, sheesh.
  • Bowser Coin: Yet another new low, it’s worth ten Coins but the tricky part is theya re placed in some unreachable spots; like your computer as your lazily sat on your bottom.

Again, there are some more; GOOD LUCK living yourself!! Well, the thing is the gameplay can be a little glitchy like Super Mario Sunshine; but that’s the point. It can be glitchy like the rarely laggy jumping like from playing a game that feels like RPG MAKER. As of, there are actually bosses at certain levels, like Wario (even though what’s involed with him…)

Final Words (Like that minor)

The graphics of characters and enemies look like they are made from MS Paint almost one uses (no offense), the other graphics are a professional type of gaming. Additionally, there’s some blood every time the Koopa Troopa defeated an enemy which many people don’t wanna have it in the game. The game-play also put in a bit of too much lifes; (just incase novice players lose many, many lives). There’s also a save option the game has recently installed, good for players who really WANT TO PLAY IT! This game is created by MCSMstudios, yet another person from Newgrounds (Newgrounds ROCKS!?) and it’s audio is provided by DarkSepiroth, Fadeliss, Kroth, LoneHunter-FsZ, MasterFury, MDJ182000, ParagonX9, PizzaFence, Uberbot27, and ZENON for giving it’s loving music to the game. I give it a 4 “1-ups” out of FIVE.

  • groan*, NEXT!!!

Flying Mario

What the? It sounds like a power-up to me, but not to the creator… Well; it sounds like that involves Mario… And uh-huh; *goes to the core*.

Story

Here’s the story, *looks at the middle of the game*; wait; there’s no actual story as of. It’s more like a mini-game from the MP series. Well, I’ll tell you a made-up story… “One time, Mario decided to have some free time so he used a Feather (which acts like a Wing Cap; Booo! DUPLICATE!) to fly at the sky. Then suddenly one of Bowser’s Fire Breaths flies by to ruin Mario’s parade. The thing is that Bowser’s Fire Breaths is shot by a modified cannon by “The Froggy Wart” or “Wartguy” for sure. Mario decides to go after him during his flight. The clouds he pass by got hit by the flames; but suddenly, the Mushrooms that are dropped by a lousy Lakitu help him grow. It’s up to Mario to get Wart to be kicked it’s butt!!!”

Graphics

The graphics came from MS Paint; another program for users to childishly play with. Despite that, some sprites are kind of being ruined. Well, the clouds look good, like it’s face.

Gameplay

Here’s the thing, it’s about flyin’ and if you know how to pilot; you’ll know how to play the game. Just JKing, Well its simple, use the arrow controls to move Mario and his cape. There’s that “Following’” arrow that indicates Mario’s desperate health.

  • Green: Your fine, that’s just it.
  • Yellow: Uh-oh, your starting to fall down a bit
  • Red: Whoa, one more hit and you’re plane is DOWN!

Obstacles in the mini-game include blinding clouds that block’s the eagles’ eyes, mushrooms that make Mario grow a bit and gives a point and just fire breath that appeared from your local fire throwing store. That simple, once you get hit for the last time, you get how many points you got from fat making mushrooms.

Sound & Music

Hmmm, Meh; not really like it. The voices of Mario sounds incorrect as it came from some recorded music from some user.

Final Words

It’s not like I HATE it, it’s just it needs add-ons people suggested; (Like 1-ups, oh yeah… eating one and getting SO… SLEEPY) *wakes up* Wha, who? Well anyway, the mini-game like… er… game is created by Sebastien Dupras, another user in NEWgrounds and also that audio is provided by LousySpy. Well, this is it… I give 2 screaming Marios falling down from the sky… *hears Mario screaming*, out of five. Well, I’m done reviewing with those games Mario fans make; time for the clips section!!!!!!!!!!!!

Movie Entertainment Sections

Super Mario Land

Oh look, a clip of dedicating only the game, ‘’Super Mario Land’’ instead of ‘’Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins’’, a game where Wario tries to rule over Mario’s ripped off castle, no offense Mario .

Story

Yeah; the thing of this clip is that there are various clips and scenes that the creator has made. Yeah; it’s just like watching Family Guy while the minor characters DO NOTHIN’!!! Yeah; it is everything like Family Guy, as of. The real thing is that THERE’s no plot or story to this clip although it has scenes LIKE “Famlie Gui!!!” except it HAS a storyline of themselves.

Graphics

The graphics during these scenes are completely like from the game, except the custom boom bomb graphics even though it’s Bagels & Wigglers on its graphics. For example, there’s that scene that there’s two pools; one with water, and one with acid that has a “CUSTOM sign” . Heehee….

Sound & Music

The sound also sounds original like the game; but not much as it has voices inputted in from various shows and movies. Sounds include the Simpsons that has the famous of the infamously Homer’s “Wohoo!” sound and well, some cartoonish voice that is junky. Additionally, the music has lyrics that can sometimes make it “Funny!!” although it came from CDs people listen to FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER… LOL.

Final Words

It came out good for classic Mario-fans to make a laugh it, they encourage the creator to make its series…. And he DID!!!!!!! Although he’s some violence that contain in it, the fans like that as it is. This movie is made by Bigfoot3290’’’ (AKA ‘’’Jeremy Simms) and yes, another user in Newgrounds and yet his other 3 sequels he made for his movie. Hmmm, I wonder if I could start getting to other websites instead of Newgrounds… NAH… I give this 4 Marios hugging Luigi… (Mario tries to hug him as Luigi runs away and hits the pipe)… out of 5.
Link That movie’s GOOD, er-him, NEXT!!!!!!!!!

Mario’s Chase

Ooo! A movie about Mario chasing 2 Goombas in the whole game; in NES!!! Good ol' chase run. Get to the details bud! *goes*

Story

Like the title said, despite the easy hint for 3rd grade users ho want to watch it, the scenes the creator put are simply “AWsome”. The scenes are so crazily adventure-tic with Mario chasing those two freedom Goombas, (Obviously). At the late middle of the movie, Bowser appears in the castle after Mario seen the two Goombas entering the castle. But this time, NO AX!!!! That’s a bummer, as the two Goombas try to squash him with a big piece of block dough from kindergarten class. They failed as they instead killed their own leader; King Bowser. But Bowser came back as a skeleton form to fight Mario for the LAST time. When he’s defeated, so does Mario as the two Goombas escaped from Mario’s stomping day of joy. But wait, “P1ayer 2” pings as Luigi comes in as the Goombas groan more and DA END. The creator announced that there will be a squeal to the original movie.

Graphics

The graphics in the movie are simply NES like as like SMB; a first platform game. However, there’s a custom made skeleton Bowser at the scene as Mario worries. Some of the graphics in the beginning and the end are hand-draw in MS Paint style. And some from Metroid, yeah as a cameo. Sheesh, well; at least the movie’s good.

Sound & Music

The sound is seriously like from the original game if you know what I mean, as some sounds came from NOWHERE. There is some music that is unrelated to Mario however, wonders when the creator liked Power Rangers. Enough note, both were sound fine although the user hired too much audio users.

Final Words

8 words, THE
MOVIE
IS
LIKE
A
BOMB
OF
LAUGHER!
That serious, it’s great as the creator is currently making a squeal about it. This crazy movie is made by SamuriFerret, yet another user from Newgrounds, along with the audio crew with ChEsDeRmAn, Jester667, LoneHunter-FsZ, Mcgoogles101. redmaverick799, Reone662, Soundshifter and Uberbot27. Whoa, that’s a lot. Well, I give 4 Marios get killed (Mario gets killed repeatedly 3 times) out of 5. Link
That’s all folks, well it’s over! The section to be waited to be reviewed is DONE for that. Maybe next time; maybe I can add some good ol’ stuff from “ZE PAST”. So, See-ya-late-ta-guy-yas! *makes more cards for my game*

Bye!

News

  • This is long ago now, but the wiki was shut down for the two weeks in July after we reached our limit on our shared server. We now have our own server, but it's costing us $100 more a month. To remedy this, an additional ad banner has been placed before the categories box, giving us just enough each month.
  • More recent: Son of Suns is back from his hiatus and is editing as before. We are all glad to have him back. :)
  • Even more recent: The Main Page has been redesigned fully, with more dynamic features.
  • Here's something you probably don't know: I have returned to normal sysop duties. However, I'm banned from anymore chat powers, so I'll be your average Joe in #mariowiki still.

Keep those wiki stats high, even though school has returned for most!

Note that June was not included in the Summer Report.

Interview with Sadaharu

by Mario riding YoshiXzelionETC

Key
GG = Xzelion (talk)
Hk = Sadaharu (talk)
All words are left in their original form to keep to the trueness of the interview.

GG: How did you find Mariowiki?
Hk: i was at Retronintendo.com and they mentioned it, and they mentioned Steve, and I ended up clicking a link one day on that site, and it brought me here and I made an account just kind of randomly and yeah

GG: I understand you are the creator of the 'Shroom, how did you come up with this idea?
Hk: Well, I got aproval from Steve to make a Community Portal, which eventually became PipePlaza. The 'Shroom was under this, PipelPlaza was an umbrella project that contained the portal and this thing i tottaly ripped from Wikipedia called the signpost. So I really didn't come up with the idea. I stole it and then introduced it.

GG: When you came here, who welcomed you?
Hk: That's an interesting story. No one welcomed me. I ended up welcoming myself. Salty later apologized for it.

GG: Who was the first person that befriended you?
Hk: Son of Suns. He acted as a mentor of sorts. I really miss him. He defended me during the "Sandbox Incident," too.

GG: What was your first edit?
Hk: This can't be right; it says my first edit was too Goombaria. I apparently tagged it with an image template BEFORE I INVENTED IT

GG: So, You were one of the few that fought off Willy on Wheel's First attempts at the wiki. How was it reverting his spam?

Hk: It was fun. I guess. There was no one on the site at the time. I just moved pages back to their names. The one thing about this atrocious occurrence is that everyone thinks Wayoshi did it. He wasn't even an active user yet.

GG: What's your Favorite Article?
Hk: Well, I like the article on Lakitus. Its for the win. Tottaly. I just fixed up the Luigi article, so its pretty nice. Although, I'd have to say, I have a special connection to the Shigeru Miyamoto article.

GG: You were the one that started the "Cheese Craze of 07" can you explain how that happened?
Hk: I uh. Well.... I went to yellowdinodude's talk page and uh.... I said I liked Cheese. It really took off from there.

GG: When you join what was your first impression of the wiki?
Hk: This place sucked. Yeah. I hated it. It was rundown and abandoned. I said I was gonna bring it life, and so I stayed.

GG: Alright, do you think this is the last question?

Hk: Is that your final answer?

GG: You can't turn a question on me O_o

Hk: 42 Uh.

GG: Yes or no?

Hk: I thought this was the fun question. lol yeah i guess it could be, although,,,,,,it might not be Ya..i Guess

GG:Are you mad you got the question wrong? :P

HK: i did?

GG:Yes :P

Hk:Are you sure?

GG: Erm..Yes....

<Hk: Is that your final answer?

GG:Yes

GG: Thanks for letting me interview you....

HK:Thank you for not gving up.

GG: lol

Director's Notes

by Tadaa!2.gifPlumberTadaaa!.gif

Hi there. First of all, I deeply apologize for the tardiness of this issue, it will not happen again (I hope). Lots of events has happened over the summer, such as a big server move, promotions, demotions, and the Second Anniversary. Give a big hand to everyone who wrote an issue this time, and to Pokemon DP (talk), who made a terrific section at the last minute. TheGreatBlockyBoo will have his Quiz in a few days, so bear with us. Well, that's all I got to say, except that there are several job openings now, so if you are interested, go to the sign-up page. The deadline for the next issue is September 21, 2007.

Have a nice day,
Plumber (talk)
