Section of the Month - Main Team
Month Issue Section Writer
July 2012 Issue 64 A History of Video Games Toad85 (talk)

HI, readers! I'm your collegial Statistics Manager, Tucayo, and I am here to bring you the results of last issue's Section of the Month polls! As I hope you noticed, we introduced a new system in our last issue: Team SOTM polls. In this polls, you were able to vote for your favorite section in each team, which means we had a winner from each team. You'll be able to see who won each Sub-Team's SOTM in their respective Director's Notes, and I'll be announcing Main and Overall SOTM.

At first sight, our new system looked like a huge success, we got an average of 114 votes!! Which is, like, 100 votes over the Overall SOTM average. Before I go on with this rant, let's look at the results:

SOTM - Overall

We had the meager amount of 16 votes. With 5 of those votes (31.25%), Project Travel Guide (x15!) was chosen as the Overall SOTM! In this special section, written by the Core Staff, we took you on a journey through all the Super Mario 64 levels. It took us months to plan this section, so we greatly appreciate all your votes, thanks. In second place, we have another special section: The Fresh Paper Mario, by Super-Yoshi (talk), a review of the first installment of the Paper Mario series. And we had a three-way tie for third place: A History of Video Games, Dangan Ronpa Explained and Theoretical Macroevolution of Koopas; written by Toad85 (talk), TheGreatBlockyBoo (talk) and Walkazo (talk), respectively. Congratulations to everyone!

SOTM - Main

For our Main Team poll, we gathered 42 votes (lowest turnout of the Team polls). The winner ended up being Toad85 (talk), with 19.05% of the votes. For this A History of Video Games, Toad85 decided to change things up a little bit and decided to take a look at six key games in the NES era. Our Project Travel Guide (x15!) won second place, and Super-Yoshi (talk)'s The Fresh Paper Mario got third place.

You may be wondering, "how did the Travel Guide won Overall SOTM if it didn't win its Team SOTM?" We noticed the same thing and a change was proposed. This current system can lead to inconsistencies (as in this case), and we found bad that 16 votes could carry more weight than 42 or 237 (Fun Stuff got this many votes!). This means, we'll make another change in the SOTM system. Our highly-successful Team Polls will stay, and the Overall Poll will go. That way, we can make sure the votes of the majority are represented and that all inconsistencies are avoided.

Polls will still run for 3 weeks, and you can find them after each Sub-Team. Please remember to take a look back at the Main poll after reading all the Main sections!
