Hello, all of you readers of The 'Shroom! Congratulations on making it to 2022. As you can see, we've made it into 2022 successfully, as well. I foresee a bright year ahead for this paper, with all of you out there supporting it by participating in our events, voting in our polls, and joining us as writers.

Before you get to reading the rest of this issue (and do be sure to read it all, as we have great offerings from all of our writers and you don't want to miss any of it), I have a few announcements to cover.

First off, this will be the last time for the foreseeable future that you'll see my notes in this space, as, as the winner of the election, Ninja Squid will be taking over as 'Shroom Director for 2022, with Waluigi Time as his Sub-Director. You can read Ninja Squid's Directorial Address right here, and can find out some of the plans he has for the paper this year. Do be sure to wish him luck, and to give him your support this year!

Second off, as of this issue's release, applications are open for anyone who is interested in serving as Graphic Design Manager for The 'Shroom. The Pyro Guy, who has done wonderful work for us in this area over the past few years, is resigning from the position. The Graphic Design Manager makes artistic assets for The 'Shroom, including, but not limited to, banners, backgrounds, and staff portraits. If you're interested in the position, please take a look at the linked thread for more details. You can send an application in to Ninja Squid (talk) and Waluigi Time (talk) until 11:59 PM EST on the 29th of January. That's two weeks to apply, so plan accordingly!

With that said, I'll leave the remaining highlights of this issue to Roserade, my loyal Sub-Director who I cannot thank enough (even after thanking him in the last issue of 2021). In the meantime, before this goes to print, I need to go and finish cleaning out the Director's office. I don't have too much room left in my cozy little nest in the Strategy Wing Director's office, but I'm sure I can make it all fit somehow. It's extra important I leave this place spotless as I go. I shudder to think what a ninja could do with all the poisonous feathers strewn around the office...

Look for me in Strategy Wing, readers of The 'Shroom! Until I write here again, thank you for supporting the paper over these two years, and please give Ninja Squid and Waluigi Time your full support so we can continue to grow this paper and this community!

Well, I suppose this is it, for now.

Greetings, beautiful 'Shroom readers, and welcome into the Director's Office. As you can see, I've gotten to work on packing myself up to head out of here. All of my potted plants are neatly stacked, I've gotten the last of those eggshells off the ceiling from April Fool's, and I've even uninstalled my evil throne to take with me! Truly, I'm going to miss this office. I've made it my own little home, in a way. But I have no qualms with who will be occupying it next, and I'm certain our next directorship will be able to lead this paper with dignity, grace, and plenty of fun.

Alright, enough sentimentality for a moment. I've got one particular feature to point you towards this issue, and that's our 'Shroomfest Highlights! For the last time, Pitohui and I led our forces in the 'Shroom courtroom, and only one team can prevail. Which one of us claimed the final victory and all the excessive bragging rights that come with it? Go ahead and find out!

That should be all. Now I've got to return to my packing. ... Oh look, it's a framed picture of Pitohui and I, on our first day in the office together! I've got to tell you, I never could've asked for a better partner than Pitohui. He's resourceful, reliable, caring, and so incredibly charitable, and with his leadership, The 'Shroom has only blossomed even further. Thank you, Pito, for leading this paper with me. You made it an absolute joy, and I'm very proud of the work we've done.

Take care everyone, until we meet again!

...Probably in Fun Stuff. We'll probably meet again in Fun Stuff.
