Hey everyone. As I'm sure you're aware, I am stepping down as Director. It's been a good run, and I would like to thank all of you who have supported me throughout these past two years, and even the time prior to that I was Strategy Wing Director. I would also like to give a warm welcome to Raregold (talk) and MsRetroGeek (talk) as our successors. I have no doubt that they will do a good job. You can check out Raregold's Directorial Address here. Maybe sometime in the future, I will return as a writer and if not I'm sure Geeky will pester me to in person), but for now I think that's all I have for you. Once again, I would like to thank all of the staff, writers, and readers for making it worthwhile. Now then, please enjoy this issue.

Well, this is it. My last issue as Sub-Director! It's been a wild ride finally discovering my true 'Shroom calling, and unlike my Director misadventures I'd absolutely love to return to the position down the line. But hey, a break to just write about Touhou, F-Zero, and the community is a good break to have. Expect to see Geeky covering these notes from now on. As for me, I closed out my sub-director tenure with One Last Isaac Job, so you'll see me again in Fun Stuff.

Until next you see me here, 'Shroom readers! Whenever that may be!

Superchao, Sub-Director

Staff Section of the Month for December 2018

STAFF-VOTED SECTION OF THE MONTH
Place Section Writer Reasoning
1st Shop Scout Hooded Pitohui (talk) An excellent finale to an excellent section. While we'll miss Flavio's adventures, Pitohui did a great job of sending him off on a high note, and gave an engaging read for the readers along the way. If you're going to finish a long-running section it's always good to make sure you do so well, and Pitohui certainly did so!
2nd Location, Location Raregold (talk) A good sign is when a one-time section makes you sad it's a one-time section. Raregold's analysis of the ice stages in Super Smash Bros makes us wish he was at least writing this bi-monthly, or that he does it again for the next special issue, or something. He does a great job of comparing and contrasting, showing exactly what they have in common and what's different, and he even comments on things like the music! It's definitely a great piece of making sure Issue 141 was a high note to close out 2018.
3rd Anton's Half-Baked Reviews Hypnotoad (talk) Anton provide unique information that would be otherwise obscure, but presented in an accessible way that gives a pretty solid take on how he feels about it, but remains fair enough for the reader to be able to differentiate he's opinion from the actual data.
4th Could Have Been Alex95 (talk) This was an excellent closing for a consistently high-quality section. Alex95 thoroughly digs into the unused content of the Super Smash Bros. franchise and shares some fascinating bits of information with readers. It definitely catches our attention and make us want to read further into what almost was in Smash Bros.
5th Touhou (Remix) Project Superchao (talk) A very thorough section with a great deal of variety. Superchao presents so many variations and remixes of Reverse Ideology that it's almost guaranteed that there's something to suit the tastes of any given reader. More importantly, though, he does a great job of explaining what unique elements to expect with each piece or, when applicable, artist, giving readers a good idea of what they'll be listening to and if the artists he features might have more works they would like.
Congratulations to all of our writers for their amazing work!

I would like to take the time to wish the best of luck to Meta Knight (talk) and Superchao (talk) in all of their future projects. I enjoyed working with both of you during the term that just ended. Your work as Director and Sub-Director of the 'Shroom will be dearly missed. Despite your departure from your staff position, I hope to see both of you writing some sections for the newspaper during the year. I am already looking forward to this!

Now, concerning the 2019 term, I want to welcome Raregold (talk) and MsRetroGeek (talk), our new Director and Sub-Director respectively. Hope you'll have a great year with everyone of us in the staff team.

Enough from me, let's just enjoy this great issue of the 'Shroom.
