At a quick glance, this might appear nit-picky, and I understand if it fails, but I hope you consider the points I am about to put forth and potentially persuade you with. Simply put:Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and Nintendo Network are two similar, but different forms of online service. Heck, they even, understandably, are expressed in two different articles. Templates are in effect in order to help users navigate, and there is really no point to have the two together. The games each respective service provided for are from two different generations of gaming, and, thus, there should be two different templates that reflect that. Each game that each service provides for has a template for their respective consoles. There is no Template:Wii and Wii U games or Template:Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS games. Each console is given its own template to help users of this online encyclopedia navigate through different aspects of a game, and the online network that these games were run on is a part of that. I know this might be too specific of an idea, but it all really makes sense if you truly understand my points I put across.

  1. DKPetey99 (talk) Per my points above, and to briefly summarize them: Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and Nintendo Network are different services that provided for a different generation of consoles. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and the games that it enabled are history, and should be treated as such with its own template that only contains the games during this generation of gaming.
  2. LuigiMaster123 (talk) I think it makes sense to split the two. Also, as a suggestion they could be called "Template:NWC" (Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection) and "Template:NN" (Nintendo Network) or something along those lines.
  3. LudwigVon (talk) Per all. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and Nintendo Network are two different services, it's normal for the information to be split.
  4. Astro-Lanceur (talk)Per DKPetey.

#Toadette the Achiever (talk) Per all. I also think these templates should instead be moved to {{WiFiGames}} and {{NNGames}}, respectively. #Supermariofan67 (talk) Per all. I would be more in support of removing this template and separating the categories per Baby Luigi, though. .

Oppose

  1. Time Turner (talk) I'd rather scrap the template(s) entirely and replace them with categories. Per BL.
  2. wildgoosespeeder (talk) The underlying theme with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and Nintendo Network is internet connection compatibility with games. I would feel more easy just keeping the template but renaming it something better. Wi-Fi is just the name to call wireless network connectivity. The Wii and Wii U are capable of using the official broadband adapter ([1]) if wireless is not feasible.
  3. Baby Luigi (talk) Per all.
  4. Alex95 (talk) - I don't really see the point to this template. The internet pages can list what games are compatible with them, seems repetitive to have a template about it as well. Agreed with Time Turner on the category thing, though.
  5. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.
  6. Yoshi the SSM (talk) Per all. Although, I am for it there being just one category which we currently have.
  7. Supermariofan67 (talk) Per all.
  8. Toadette the Achiever (talk) Switching sides, per Time Turner.

I have another question. Is this nav template even necessary? I feel like it's lumping completely unrelated games together simply because they have online connectivity. I think categories are a better way to handle this than having a navtemplate dealing with this. It's pretty like creating a navtemplate to include "games that support multiplayer". It does have a category. Just one category. Category:Games with Wi-Fi Connection. And it should be part of the discussion/proposal too. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 21:27, 22 December 2017 (EST)

@Supermariofan67: *scratches head* I don't understand why you are voting for a split when you are mentioning you want to remove the template. Splitting doesn't mean removing. This proposal doesn't cover the category we have. That's a different discussion. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 10:37, 27 December 2017 (EST)

I voted support based on the understanding that voting oppose means voting for no change at all. I think that the template should be removed, but if it is going to be kept, which both options propose, it should be split. However, I understand now that we should vote oppose on this one, then support the next proposal to remove it. I will change my vote. --Super Mario Fan 67 (TCS) 10:52, 27 December 2017 (EST)
I know you switch, so I am just telling you. It would be harder to delete them if they are split than if they are together. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 11:14, 27 December 2017 (EST)

Also, I have created a category talk page where we can properly discuss the category. I am doing that since DKPetey99 hasn't changed the proposal since its creation. Meaning that it can't properly be discussed here due to the proposal not being related to the category, just the template. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 11:14, 27 December 2017 (EST) The discussion is on this page. Forgot to mention that. Mario Odyssey?

Super Mario Odyssey is listed as using Nintendo Switch Online. While it does use the online capabilities of the Switch, it doesn't actually use NSO. Should we take it off? (Usually I'd just do so right away, but this is a weird situation.)

Delete navtemplate, replace each connectivity with respective categories

Back in 2018, when a proposal to split the template was made and people opposed it, people suggested to delete this template, and I still hold that stance as I did in the last oppose today: I see little use for this navigation template, as most of the games on there are far too unrelated to each other for readers to find this useful, as well as being overall redundant with other templates. This was created when online play for Mario games was still a new thing and could have been argued back then that it had a purpose, but with the increased prevalence of online connectivity nowadays, I feel like this navtemplate has reached obsolescence and is better off being a category, being as commonplace as couch-coop multiplayer in games these days.

What this proposal aims to do:

  • Delete the navtemplate.
  • Create categories called Games with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Games with Nintendo Network, Games with Nintendo Switch Online

  2. Alex95 (talk) - Per my thoughts in the previous proposal.
  3. BBQ Turtle (talk) Sounds like a more practical way to handle it, particularly in the long term.
  4. Archivist Toadette (talk) Better way to handle it. Per Ray Trace.
  5. Waluigi Time (talk) I really don't think we need a navigation template just for games with internet connection.
  6. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.
  7. DarkNight (talk) Per all.
  8. Camwood777 (talk) I feel like having more specific navboxes for each of Nintendo's online functions (WFC, Nintendo Network, NSO) is much more practical and specific than having this one, larger navbox.
  9. Superbound (talk) Per Ray Trace
