Template:Galaxybox Tall, Tall Mountain is the twelfth course in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The entrance to the course is the small painting on the second floor of Princess Peach's Castle, located directly behind the staircase. This is the only main course in the DS version that has neither a Switch Star nor a Silver Star mission.

Layout

The player starts at the base of the mountain next to a small pond. Behind them is a narrow ledge with a 1-Up Mushroom on it and in front of them are a trio of Goombas. Past the Goombas is a ramp that leads to two gaps the player has to Long Jump across; failing to cross the first one will have the player land on the ground below, but failing the second will result in a lost life. Beyond the gaps are several mushroom platforms with Red Coins, a ! Block containing a 1-Up Mushroom, and a warp to the cannon on the center mushroom. Past the mushrooms is a series of platforms that lead further up the mountain with Red Coins and Monty Moles on them. In the DS version, there is an additional Black Brick that will uncover a Super Mushroom when broken. Additionally, there is a mushroom platform across the gap that holds the Star Marker of the level. Beyond the Monty Moles is a path with Bob-ombs and a Chuckya, followed by a bridge with a Bob-omb Buddy on a small platform below it. Afterward, there is a Ukiki and a Fly Guy, with the Ukiki attempting to steal the player's cap, and a log the player has to roll in order to get across the gap.

After the rolling log is a large slope with several boulders rolling down it. Alternatively, there is a different path with Bob-ombs the player can use to go around the slope with the boulders. At the end of both paths is a large gap the player has to Long Jump across followed by a Fwoosh that will attempt to blow the player off the mountain, causing them to both lose a life and their cap. Next to the Fwoosh is a hidden passage that leads to a large slide. Past the Fwoosh is a grassy area with Goombas, though the grass will make it difficult for the player to jump. After the grass field is a narrow bridge over a waterfall, and across it is the peak of the mountain.
