"amiibo costumes"

I can confirm by myself that Dark Pit, Palutena, Zero Suit Samus and Ganondorf all have a Yoshi costume, too. Another source would be the Miiverse. Europe has all those amiibo already.

"Yarn Yoshi"

I believe that this is the working title. On Nintendo America's official press site, it says that the name is not final. Something to look forward to I guess :)

Actually, if you look at the original press release (alternate link) the only time they use the phrase "Yarn Yoshi" it isn't italicized like the other game titles. This doesn't appear to be the current working title. Deezer (talk) 11:08, 27 January 2013 (EST)

Playable characters

Is this really needed, I mean isn't it obvious that you're going to be able to play as Yoshi? I mean his name is in the title Yoshi876 (talk)

2.5D?

2.5D (two-and-a-half-dimensional) is graphical art style with 2D and 3D elements. For example Donkey Kong Country Returns and New Super Mario Bros. U are 2.5D games, characters moves in 2D while the backgrounds are 3D.

Yoshi's three-dimensional form

Yoshi actually becomes an "amigurumi crochet form", not an "all-knitted form". He is definitely not knitted, but amigurumi crochet. :)

Cancelled!?

I wonder that Nintendo has showed no info. in this game! That either means they thought it was to early to be revealed or it's cancelled. CRode (talk)

Not cancelled & new name!

I e-mailed Nintendo to see if the Yoshi game was cancelled and here's what I got:

Hi, I have a question: Last year, Yarn Yoshi for Wii U was announced on a Nintendo Direct. We haven't heard about it since. Was it cancelled or replaced by Yoshi's New Island? Thanks.

The game you were inquiring about is actually titled Yoshi Wii U. Yoshi Wii U has been officially announced for release, but hasn't been given a release date yet.

But the name appears provissionaly as Yarn Yoshi in the Supplementary Information about Earnings Release in January 2013 by Nintendo.co.jp! The Mushroom Kingdom explains it! And in Japanese is named Yarn Yoshi too (毛糸のヨッシー, Keito no Yoshi)!--77.228.198.87 09:26, 1 April 2014 (EDT)

The title could've changed since December and NoA is shown to change game titles from the original Japanese. (i.e. Mario Story becomes Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion 2 became Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon"). This more recent document (January 2014) shows the provisional name of Yarn Yoshi for the U.S., Europe and Japan, and says it has a tentative date of TBD. Also, indicates that names and release date are subject to changes, and also subject to changes between countries.

Erm, the international title which was provided in the official press release was Yarn Yoshi. I'd wait for the next public statement from the Horse's Mouth: not an independant e-mail, before making significant changes such as this. But thats just me: feel free to continue your banter.

So while all this was going on, I thought I would also e-mail Nintendo (the address is Nintendo Consumer Service, noa@nintendo.com), and this is the reply I received: "Hello, (my name). To answer your question, the recently announced Yoshi game for the Wii U is currently labeled Yoshi Wii U (Working Title). This will be subject to change as the development on this game continues. Nintendo Email

As I have previously done with Toad's article, here is the information given to me by Samanatha Perry from Nintendo of America in an email. Due to the layout of the email, I strongly believe it was not a form letter, but indeed Samantha Perry.

The email claims that all she has heard about Yarn Yoshi is rumors, and there are no official announcements referring to it (I don't know how true this is, it's possible that she just works in customer service and doesn't have much information). The email includes that they cannot share any information about the game not already being revealed.

That said, she did not mention the Yoshi Wii U title, and stuck to referring to it as Yarn Yoshi. While she did not confirm that the game is real (as mentioned above), the way she spoke strongly implied "Yeah you're not supposed to know about this yet...". However, if it is indeed not announced and there are only rumors, this means Yoshi Wii U, if it exists, could be a separate game that does indeed exist, and that Yarn Yoshi never did exist.

The information was as follows:

I'm fairly certain due a trailer the game is real. And like you said, she seems to stick with the name Yarn Yoshi the most, so it's logical to think that is its current name, especially since no official sources are disputing that and I believe the trailer used Yarn Yoshi. Yoshi876 (talk)

TPP: Are enemies different from yarn enemies?

enemies are the same 1-9
Now that we have some actual footage of this game, I was watching it and wondered if yarn enemies should be considered separate from regular enemies (e.g. is a Koopa Paratroopa the same as a Yarn Koopa Paratroopa or are they different enemies). I think that we should clear this up now before content is loaded onto the an enemy page only to be decided yarn enemies are different. Though I have no strong feelings for one side over another, I am leaning towards they are separate because they (obviously) look different from their usual appearance, and attack and move differently. When Super Mario 3D World came out, we created separate articles for cat forms of creatures, like the Cat Bullet Bill, and those enemies looked different from their usual appearance and acted slightly differently, just like yarn enemies. I believe that they are sparate, but I think we should settle this now with a proposal.

1. Stonehill (talk) The reason why Tail Goomba is split from Goomba is because a Tail Goomba is a Goomba that has previously come in contact with a Super Leaf. The same instance applies to Bullet Bills and Cat Bullet Bills. You might be referring to the paper enemies from the Paper Mario series, however, they happen to remain merged, for lots of reasons. Therefore, we should keep the enemies merged.
2. Misty (talk) – They're clearly meant to be the same enemies, and they don't have any differences other than being made of yarn. By this logic, we would split Paper Mario from Mario.

I would suggest waiting until the game is released. In Kirby's Epic Yarn, the Yarn Waddle Dees are fakes created by Yin-Yarn. If YWW has a similar plot, then yes. They are described as "Yin-Yarn made these imposters! They look just like the real ones!" (the Waddle Dees). They are referred to as "imposters" and have a different appearance (despite the description, Waddle Dees appear in non-yarn style next to the yarn Waddle Dees when Dedede is kidnapped). Thus they are separate. If the yarn enemies are the same (whoever the villain is creating fake Shy Guys in yarn style), it would not be the same as Tabuu creating a Goomba (since these Goombas would look identical and act identical and basically be identical). This may not be a reason to create a separate page (as they have no info that is separate from ordinary Shy Guys or whatever besides appearance. Additionally every existing Kirby Wiki that isn't noob-filled combines Waddle Dees with Fake Waddle Dees). But, if they are revealed to be separate creatures, I will start a proposal to separate (if this one doesn't separate), even though it probably shouldn't be. So, if the only tangible difference is their origins....that still doesn't merit a split. We have this article on the wiki, though the former ghost was created by that Van Gore ghost...that still doesn't merit their own separate page. You're also basing this off looks. By this logic, you'd want to split the Goombas from Paper Mario, who not only look different but actually behave differently (they headbonk you and they take more than one stomp to dispatch them in typical cases). Release

I just got a newsletter from Nintendo and amongst the stuff there, they had a list of upcoming and new games, to which Yoshi's Woolly World was listed. The release date they showed was 2015, nothing about the already said first half of 2015. Maybe it'll be like Mario Maker, which was also pushed into a less detailed 2015 release. And I know they show these things cause Splatoon was still listed as May 2015, while other titles simply said 2015. Tails777 Talk to me!

At Gamestop, their upcoming release chart gives it June 29. However, back when I saw this Splatoon had May 22, and is now confirmed for May 29, so their sheets aren't certain.--Weebbby (talk) 20:59, 13 April 2015 (EDT)

Power Badges

According to footage I saw from the European version of the game from YouTube users like NintenU, Power Badges can be unlocked after clearing certain levels. Here's a list: - Clear the level! Costs 2,000 Gems to use it, skips any level and can only be used in Mellow Mode. - Make any yarn ball huge! Costs 1,000 Gems to use it and any yarn balls collected are huge. - Fall into a pit? No problem! Costs 7,500 Gems to use it and appears to negate any effect of falling down a bottomless pit. - Power up Ground Pound! Costs 5,000 Gems to use it and increases the strength of Ground Pound. - All-you-can-eat watermelon! Costs 5,000 Gems to use it and possibly lets you spit seeds at the beginning of the level. - Immunity to fire and lava! Costs 7,500 Gems and you won't get hit by any fiery obstacle. - Play alongside Poochy! Costs 500 Gems and spawns Poochy in any stage. - Higher defense! Costs 3,000 Gems and decreases the damage you get from enemies. - See hidden items! Costs 5,000 Gems and works like the Magnifying Glass from Super Mario World 2. - Grab items by eating them. Costs 3,000 Gems and if you use Yoshi's tongue to snare items, you can use them! - Improve your speed! Costs 3,000 Gems and Yoshi's speed increases. - Pull items to you with your magnetic force! Costs 5,000 Gems and if you go near an item, it'll be pulled to Yoshi. - All-you-can-eat fire watermelon! Costs 5,000 Gems and possibly lets you breathe fire at the beginning of the level. - All-you-can-eat ice watermelon! Costs 5,000 Gems and possibly lets you breathe ice at the beginning of the level.

The watermelons work in a rather interesting way. At the start of the level, a watermelon (seeds, fire, or ice) spawns in the air. Once eaten, it works per standard fashion (many seeds or 3 ice/fire bursts). Once consumed, another watermelon will show up at your current location. If you don't grab the watermelon, every so often it will move to your current location. The floating watermelons will spawn at any time you don't currently have a spawned watermelon in your mouth (even if you have a normally-occurring watermelon in your mouth).

You can if you want, but probably put it on Naval Piranha's(the boss) page, maybe in the trivia. You can maybe put it in the "Feed and Seed" page, but it's not necessary.

A few bits of minutia

• In the North American version of the game, the Candyfloss Yoshi (World 3-7) is referred to as the Cotton Candy Yoshi. In a similar vein, the Wii U Yoshi is called the Wii U Deluxe Yoshi on the NA version. Both of these have been added, by me or someone else.

• The solid color Yoshi that you start the game with (besides the red one) will change if you copy a file to another slot. Example: If I copy File 3 to File 2, the resulting save on File 2 will have a pink Yoshi, as opposed to the source save (File 3), which still has a light-blue Yoshi.

• In the NA version, the world gates (or bollids, or whatever they're called) have pop-up text reading "World X", whereas the EU version's pop-up reads "WORLD X".

OH BOY MORE!

• Victory in Boss Rush shows "WIN" in EU and "YOU WON!" in NA.

• When you can get a free badge, the promotion is "Try One For Free!" on EU and "Everything's free!" in NA.

Reference to Kirby's Epic Yarn?

Hey folks, I've played Epic Yarn before, and I noticed that, in level 3-1, "Yoshi and Cookies", the music heavily reuses a motif originally found as the "theme" of Epic Yarn. Should this be added to the references? The Blue Boo (talk) 12:08, 3 January 2016 (EST)

Yoshi's Woolly World levels

Are we going to make articles for the remainder of the Woolly World levels? It's like someone did articles for the entire World 1 and then gave up. With all these red links for the levels in this game, it feels like we should actually make them. Due to not having played the game (yet) I probably can't be of much help, but still, if we want to make it look complete, we might as well make the articles.

Split Mellow Mode

Currently Mellow Mode redirects to a section of this article. However, Yoshi's Crafted World also features Mellow Mode.
