Conjectural?Edit

I don't remember where in the game this name is used... Does it come from the player's guide? LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:19, 30 April 2014 (EDT)

TorteEdit

Is the wish explicitly supposed to be Chef Torte in the remake? Because as pointed out in the edit summary, it's more likely it's supposed to be his apprentice. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 13:04, December 4, 2023 (EST)

From what I've seen of the remake, it doesn't correct this or the Torte enemy thought, which is shocking to me, because if you know what's really going on, Chef Torte's accent is a masterclass localization choice - but the only problem with it is that removing the same quirk from his apprentice caused a few minor issues. It seemed like such a no-brainer to fix since it's not even that hard to write around. Well, I'd look to the other languages on this one. Since we're on the topic, I might as well add that the "Treasure-hunting Toad's" wish is undeniably supposed to be Croco's. That's right: he was conjecturally named after a wish that actually wasn't his. Go figure. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:30, December 4, 2023 (EST)
Oh, you're right! He even ends his wish in "マース" in Japanese, like how Croco speaks. That should definitely be fixed then. As for the other wish, perhaps it could be listed simply as "Torte"? Blinker (talk) 14:51, December 4, 2023 (EST)
Yes, I'm thinking just blanket "Torte" will work, same as how the enemy thought goes to either of them, or a footnote like what's set up here. Personally, I think it was likelier supposed to be the apprentice, but we also don't really know how renowned his boss is, so I guess it can technically be him too. I just noticed something else: are we sure about the couple's wishes belonging to Raz and Raini? Earlier in the game, the "Raz" wish is "I hope she'll say “yes”.", while the "Raini" wish is "I wish he'd pop THE question." At a certain point, these get replaced with "Can't wait to start a family." and "I hope my baby's cute!", respectively. It's also clear in the Japanese version that one is a male speaker and the other is a female speaker, and presumably, they're the same people like the other changed wishes. The oddity is that we don't see a pre-engagement arc of Raz and Raini's story, nor do they express any desire to have kids (and, might I add, the wish implies that they may already be expecting). It could be an old wish, but in other cases, wishes get replaced as soon as they're granted. So, I'm unsure if they're supposed to be Raz and Raini. It could be that these two are unseen, like Luigi. The trigger for the change needs to be double-checked. (And on that note, does the remake add or change post-game wishes?) LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:40, December 4, 2023 (EST)
Actually, there are apparently two pre-marriage wishes in the game's data, but they seem to have wound up unused due to the fact you can only visit Star Hill after they get married. Blinker (talk) 15:57, December 4, 2023 (EST)
Oh wow, okay. I must not have realized it during debug. Looks like the wishes specifically change after the Princess rejoins the party (in Mushroom Kingdom, not Marrymore). Still an odd spot for a change since they're still at the altar when you first visit Star Hill, but since the first set isn't seen in normal gameplay, it's more believable that it's them.
