Wingo Based off of a Crow?

I don't believe the article that much when it says Wingo might be based off of a crow. She could be based off of a raven, as they are black and they love shiny things. Also, ravens are known to cause trouble, most notably in the famous poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. Do any of you guys believe me? Madz the Penguin (talk) 00:52, 16 November 2014 (EST)

Crows and ravens are VERY similar creatures. The only difference between the two in reality is that ravens are larger (the common raven has a wedge-shaped tail compared to the american crow's fan-shaped tail too). The "loving shiny things" bit is actually just folklore; crows and ravens don't love shiny objects any more than any other object that may catch their attention. I thought we just said that crows don't like shiny objects. Ravens and crows are equally depicted to cause trouble. You can say that Wingo is based on a raven, but not anymore than a crow. Ravens, as Baby Luigi said, are very similar to crows, but they have a much thicker beak, a fuller throat, are much bigger, and they have a wedge-shaped tail in flight. Finally, you can say that Wingo is like a rook, jackdaw, blackbird, grackle, or even a starling (the last three aren't even related to crows; they're blackbirds, and in the starling's case, their own family). The point is, don't get very nitpicky about what exactly what kind of bird Wingo is. Funny thing you're learning about corvids in a Mario Wiki! It's me, Mario! Oh, okay. I'm not the expert on birds (Walkazo is), so I got mixed up. Also, about the larger thing, Wingo is huge! I haven't seen a large Mario bird since the Zeekeeper! Ummm, anyway, thanks for the info! This reminds me of how I wrote a poem called, "The Birdley" on Fanfiction. It's a spoof of The Raven, and it has Blumiere as the main character, Timpani as Lenore, and Birdley as...well, you get the picture. Quoth the Birdley, "Nevermore!" Helmaroc King?

you know Wingo not only looks similar to the Helmaroc King from the Legend of Zelda game the Wind Waker but also acts nearly the same as that boss here are my reasons 1.they both kidnap characters close and important to the main protagonists of both games 2.by doing this they both set off the adventures of the two heroes and begin the plot of the games 3.like i stated before Wingo and the Helmaroc King resemble one another including size i was wondering if this should be put in the triva section?--0551E80Y (talk) 09:40, 6 December 2014 (EST)

Wingo's Gender?

Is there any information regarding Wingo's actual gender? Someone from Miiverse mentioned that it has the same cackle as Banjo-Kazooie's Gruntilda, and even its appearance seems feminine at spots. M&SG (talk) 18:33, 13 December 2014 (EST)

I was waiting for someone to ask this. However, relying on people as a source is not the best thing, as I know someone who says non-canon information to me and acts like it's true (ex. Link's real name being Justin, Shantae not being half-genie due to genetics, etc.). Also, looks don't determine gender, as some thought Antasma was a girl before Dream Team's release, when he was actually a guy. It's debatable, and unless Wingo's being referred to as "she" or other feminine words, we will call he/she an "it". If it's called a boy or a girl, we will know Wingo's gender. Koopa Troop

Shouldn't we add Wingo to the Koopa Troop Category? Magikoopas appear in the boss battles with him and they're part of the Koopa Troop and so do various other minions of Bowser so should we add Wingo as well? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) 00:48, 28 October 2016 (EDT)

I don't think we should, there is no indication Wingo was part of the Koopa Troop and he never help Bowser in any way. So, adding Wingo to the Koopa Troop category is like saying Wingo is a part of the Koopa Troop and/or help Bowser in some way which is false.--^(TALK) 01:06, 28 October 2016 (EDT)

The bigger problem lies within the Koopa Troop category itself, which I think should be renamed to just Mario enemies.
