The group of islands to the east with the castle looks almost identical to the island formation of Japan.

MusicEdit

Could the music for Water Land have become the basis for the Fairy Fountain theme, which also plays on the File Select screen of The Legend of Zelda games? They sound very similar, sharing a similar melody and progression. The songs even had the same composer. Torey (talk) 02:14, 7 November 2017 (EST)

It is. It's already mentioned on the article, and it's been well known for a while now.   Mario JC 03:41, 7 November 2017 (EST)
I had never noticed. Mainly because I always forget the world 3 and 4 music. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 05:54, 7 November 2017 (EST)

In The Legend of Zelda games, did the Fairy Fountain theme sample the music for Water Land, or could they just be the same song? Torey (talk) 03:43, 6 February 2018 (EST)

You already asked if it's based on it, which it is. It's an arrangement.   Mario JC 04:13, 6 February 2018 (EST)

I think the music for Water Land was remixed as the Fairy Fountain theme in only The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, because the Fairy Fountain theme changed over the series of The Legend of Zelda games. The one in A Link to the Past sounds closer to Water Land's music; in Ocarina of Time and games after, the chord progressions of the theme has extra notes added to it. They still sound similar, but they are somewhat different. Torey (talk) 01:37, 8 March 2018 (EST)

It's still an arrangement of the Water Land theme, if only indirectly. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:03, 8 March 2018 (EST)
You're looking into them too much. As Doc said, they're still indirect arrangements of the original song.   Mario JC 02:16, 8 March 2018 (EST)
