Mini Warp Pipes

Do we really have to have a link to "mini warp pipes"? It just redirects to the same page. Toad's sprite in Excitebike: Bun Bun Mario Battle wow it's Kiryu (TC)

Nope, circular links are indeed useless; good spottting! For future reference, if something's introduced in a game that goes by a different name but is essentially the same, that new name can just be bolded (there's actually a couple examples on this page, now including Mini Warp Pipe). However, if a seperate article does exist, just link to it and don't bold. - Walkazo 02:11, 25 January 2009 (EST)

Uh... Mini Warp Pipes was not introduced in New Super Mario Bros., it was in Super Mario World, but it wasn't possible to enter it, since Mini Mushrooms wasn't introduced yet when Super Mario World released. - Super Bluey

Capitalization

Is Warp Pipe supposed to be capitalized or not? It seems that it varies in the article.

Split Shrinker Pipe into its own article

The Nintendo Player's Guide for Super Mario 64 consistently refers to the "Warp Pipes" in Tiny-Huge Island as Shrinker Pipes. I think that this is cause to make it into its own article, as, though it looks the same as a Warp Pipe, it has a completely different effect.

Technically they aren't JUST shrinking pipes. Some make you bigger as well. Shouldn't we change the name to accomodate BOTH sizes? Coooool123 (talk)

Super Smash Bros

In the Super Smash Bros section it only mentions the warp pipes that Mario and Luigi enter through and the ones that you can't enter in the Mushroomy Kingdom stage, but the pipes in the Mushroom Kingdom stage from the original Super Smash Bros that warp pipes worked are not mentioned. --Petertwnsnd (talk) 17:42, 21 December 2012 (EST)

Mini Mario's misplaced

Splitting off Mini Warp Pipes

Mini Warp Pipes have appeared in 6 games now (Super Mario Bros. 3, New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Super Mario Maker 2). They have a different appearance (radius half the size of a normal Warp Pipe), a different functionality (something that only Mini Mario can access), and a different, probably official name. They should be split into their own article. B700465189a9 (talk) 16:18, July 20, 2019 (EDT)

Pipes are not warp pipes etc.

Question.svg This talk page or section has a conflict or a question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

Why in the hell does this entry (2006) exist? Almost every game calls a green pipe a pipe; the only games that use warp pipe are Mario Parties (2002+) and Super Mario Makers, and the latter only when the pipe leads somewhither. And can we talk about the Super Mario Bros. name? I was first confused by SMB as the manual calls the pipes flower-pots! But Mario Bros. properly calls them pipes, water pipes, or waterpipes.

Likewise Nintendo don't use a D-pad or d-pad but a (huge white plus icon, or maybe white crux quadrata)Control pad, Control Pad (in Game Boy, not GameBoy, material), or +Control Pad (in newer material), besides arrow buttons. A D-pad sounds like a bunch of D buttons, like D1, D2, etc. You could call the + pad the arrow pad. Lysdexia (talk) 14:55, June 28, 2021 (EDT)

Well, this is something I've been meaning to bring up: Warp Pipes are sometimes called pipes, but regular, non-transporting pipes are never called Warp Pipes, if I'm not mistaken. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:09, October 18, 2021 (EDT)
Additionally, Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros. only attributes the name 「ワープ土管」 (Warp Pipe) to the ones in the Warp Zone, and uses 「土管」 (pipe) to refer to both decorative and traveling ones. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:53, December 14, 2021 (EST)
If this is about splitting warp pipe from pipe then I'm going to have to oppose. Not only are they visually identical, share a name most of the time, and have only one functional difference(warping vs. not warping), someone searching for a pipe article is most likely just going to search one of the 2 terms and expect to find any pipe, not specifically the warping/non-warping ones. Somethingone (talk) 20:42, March 9, 2022 (EST)
The takeaway is that the wiki currently defines "Warp Pipe" incorrectly: all warp pipes are pipes, but not all pipes are warp pipes. LinkTheLefty (talk) 06:09, March 10, 2022 (EST)
Aaaaah, this is about moving to a better name. Sorry I jumped the gun there, yea I'd agree to a move to pipe. Somethingone (talk) 18:07, March 10, 2022 (EST)

Super Mario Run

Where is Super Mario Run information on the Warp Pipe? There is many a time a Mario Run player will see a green tube, even if it can't get you anywhere. You can place them in Kingdom Builder, there are many different types and colors of them for Kingdom Builder, certain ones will grant you acess to special courses. You touch them to acess the different modes aside from Kingdom Builder, they appear in many levels, they are one of the few elements to be featured in the how to play course. They are even featured in the Super Mario Run category. All this and no Mario Run info in the Warp Pipe article? How does that make any sense? Broque 18:43, July 22, 2021 (EDT)

Um, hello? Broque 13:47, August 16, 2021 (EDT)

Why is nobody answering? Broque 13:41, August 30, 2021 (EDT)

If you have the information about Warp Pipes in Super Mario Run, you're more than welcome to add it to its own section on the article by yourself. That's why this is a wiki, after all. It must have not been added before simply because no one thought to do so.A Strollin' Stu in Super Mario Sunshine. 0blivion 16:09, August 30, 2021 (EDT)

Merge blue pipe and yellow pipe here

The blue "pipe" item is apparently the only pipe in Mario Pinball Land, and blue pipes in the early Paper Mario games are just color variants used to distinguish the sewer shortcut pipes from the other pipes in the game. Plus, there are blue pipes in other games like Partners in Time that aren't split.

The same goes for the yellow pipes in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. The color is specifically used for pipes that lead to the Oho Ocean Seabed or Teehee Valley's underground. They have that mechanic where you have to hold up, B, and A to climb out of them, but that's it. It's just color coding to distinguish them from the "green pipes" which are used as shortcuts for fast travel between locations, much like the blue pipes in Paper Mario.

Rename to "Pipe"

Shouldn't this page be renamed? "Warp Pipe" isn't used nearly as often, and most major in-game appearances that actually bother to name then simply call them "pipes". Off the top of my head, both Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and the Super Mario Maker games simply refer to them as pipes. Furthermore, not all pipes actually let you travel to other locations, so the name isn't really fitting. BubbleRevolution (talk) 13:44, January 2, 2024 (EST)

I'm pretty sure Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is the only game I recall the "Warp Pipe" name being used, referring to the ones used to fast travel around Pi'illo Island. Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 14:31, January 2, 2024 (EST)
A pretty recent instance of "Warp Pipe" in official media is in this news article on nintendo.com: "Navigate an underground network of Warp Pipes and watch for Piranha Plants in new course Piranha Plant Pipeline!"
Just throwing this out there. I'm all for moving the article to "Pipe", though. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:51, February 1, 2024 (EST)
