On Nintendo.com's master game list, this game is referred to as Warioland 4, instead of Wario Land 4. I know this is about the most nitpicky detail ever, but would you support a move, provided the information about the book listed as "Warioland 4" on this site is moved to a new title, such as "Warioland 4 (book)"? Some Enemies

Hi people. Im now playing this game -in emulator- and i want to take pictures of all levels and enemies to complete the article. But i don't know the name of various creatures... can someone help me? Thx a lot :D. The pictures:

I know the names of these creatures (excluding the bosses), all from the game's manual:

• Beezley (the bee)
• Keyzer (the key ghost/bird)
• Goggley-Blade (that frog/fish mix)
• Hoggus (the drawing pig)
• Spear-Mask (the spear-holding guy)
• Minicula (the bat that turns you into Vampire Wario)

Some artwork can be found here (Chinese). The things that you call "rocks" are just pressure machines, I think. I also would like to know what the other enemies' names are. I wonder from which source people got names like RC Wario Car and Spear-Mask Warrior? That needs to be answered, I put a template on this talk page. --Grandy02 09:04, 2 April 2008 (EDT)

Names of the Enemies

For most enemies in Wario Land 4, there are no official English names. The same can be said about many enemies in previous Wario Land installments (even if not all articles with fan-made names are marked as "conjectural", there are no reliable sources for them). However, nearly all of them seem to have official Japanese names. The Japanese Wikipedia gives the Japanese names for virtually all enemies in the game. Of course, everyone at Wikipedia could make up names. But all of them are also listed in a Japanese Super Mario dictionary, a fansite that lists nearly all enemies in Mario games and spin-offs such as Wario Land. And there have been official Japanese guides for every Wario Land (except for the Virtual Boy game), that not only reveal names, but even feature artwork that never made it into Western publications. The names are likely taken from there, but I don't own any of the guides. My question is, is that enough to confirm those names as official, so that they can be used for the articles? Anyway, here is a list of the names:

• Marumen (まるメン, "circle face") – Bouncer
• Totsumen (トツメン, "clash face") – Spear Head
• Harimen (ハリメン, "needle face") – Spiny-like enemy (pink shell)
• Harimenzetto (ハリメンゼット) – Spiny-like enemy (black shell)
• Imomushi (イモムシ, "caterpillar") – well, the caterpillar
• Shieragutchi (シエラグッチ) – the spiked clam
• Tobawani (トバワニ) – Scuba Gator
• Moguramen (もぐらメン, "mole face") – the drilling mole
• Togerobo (トゲロボ, "spike robo") – the robot with the spiked rolling head
• PET Bottom (ペットボトム) – the walking bottle
• Denden (でんでん) – the "snail pig" created by Hoggus
• Butatabi (ぶたたび) – the gliding pig created by Hoggus
• Deburina (でぶりーな, "fatrina") – the pig ballerina
• Toy Car (トイカー) – RC Wario Car
• Dice (ダイス) – the spear-wielding dice
• Iwao (岩男) – the rock-throwing enemy in Fiery Cavern
• Onomī (斧ミイ, "ax mummy" abbreviated) – Ax Mummy
• Menono (メン斧, "ax face") – Ax Ghost
• Utsuboankō (うつぼあんこう, "moray eel goosefish") – the sea monster hiding in holes
• Togenobi (トゲノビ) – the big octopus in the Mystic Lake
• Yūrei (幽霊, "ghost") – Captain Coin
• Bow Balloon (ボウバルーン) – Archer
• Ringosukii (リンゴスキー, ringo means "apple") – Apple Monkey
• Menhammer (メンハンマー, "hammer face") – Hammer Warrior
• Kaentsubo (火炎壷, "flame jar") – Torcher
• Yukiotoko (雪男, "Yeti", lit. "snowman") – the Yeti enemy
• Skeleton Bird (スケルトンバード) – Flying Ghost
• Robo Bird (ロボバード) – Drill Bat
• Mayu Bird (まゆバード, "eyebrow bird") – the bat-like enemy in Arabian Night

This Super Mario dictionary you mentioned... If it also lists info from other Mario games (it's a little hard for me to navigate this site...) then we could check the japanese names of enemies we know the official names of. If they match, then it is highly likely that the WL names are also official (of course that is no confirmation either). - Gabumon^(talk) 15:11, 20 December 2009 (EST)

I already checked the Japanese names of the Wario Land II enemies that were used in the Japan-only Picross NP, there are all included in the database. The same goes for the Wario Land enemy names used in Super Mario-Kun. If they even got the names of such obscure enemies right, the names of enemies from the more popular Mario games are most likely right as well. Now I just need to know if this plan is accepted. As long as someone hasn't confirmed that the names are in the guides, we could cite the respective entries of the dictionary like NoA's mail has been cited in some WL2 enemy articles (e.g. Rooster), so that the source of the names is clear. --Grandy02 15:39, 20 December 2009 (EST)

There are some enemies only seen during boss battles. Do they have names?

• Spoiled Rotten Jr.
• Tack Soldier
• The exploding birds.
• The shark-submarine thing that kills you dead in Catbat's pool.
• The spiky guys that cause Puffy Wario in Catbat's battle.
• The toothy green guy Golden Diva hoarks up.

I haven't found names for them. Feel free to make up conjectural names. Anyway, I don't think the name "Spoiled Rotten Jr." is that good, since Spoiled Rotten already acts like a child and is therefore a "junior". I'm sorry to be harsh here, but why do we even trust a Japanese Mario fan site on these enemy names? We don't trust English ones from say, Mario Monsters, and the site in question seems to be a free hosted site which doesn't give much evidence for the names nor even exist on the internet any more. Besides, its an English site this, the Japanese names are not particularly understandable to much of the audience and hard to find in Google.Cheat-master30 (talk)

The unnamed character

• Every now and then i see a purple pipe. and when I go into that pipe I find a strange invincible creature that you can abuse. I saw him on the newspaper in the intro. Who is that guy? --User: ChillGuy

I can't guarantee that this is true, but Google searches on the subject seem to indicate that the character (presumably the person who discovered the pyramid, as he appears in the newspaper) is a cameo of a character named アレヲ・シタイン博士　(Dr. Arewo Shitain), who originates from the Japan-only game カエルの為に鐘は鳴る (Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru), which some of Wario Land 4's staff members were involved in (notably Tomoyoshi Yamane, who apparently worked as a character designer for both games). If you look at Dr. Shitain's artwork from the game, he does bear a striking resemblance to the Wario Land 4 character: Image from the Japanese Nintendo website.--vellidragon 11:57, 1 June 2010 (EDT)

I previously wrote about this in a message board, and I'm sure he is the character mentioned by vellidragon (I think Dr. Arewo Stein would be a proper romanisation). I haven't played the Japan-only game, either, but from what I've read and seen, I'm convinced. His appearance perfectly fits the character from the Game Boy game, and there is also artwork of him in a Japanese Wario Land 4 guide, as seen here (bottom-left corner). It's only a small portion of the page, but I'm sure his name would be next to the artwork. By the way, the character designer (Tomoyoshi Yamane) of Kaeru also worked on Wario Land 4 as a designer, what could be the reason for the character's appearance. --Grandy02 12:31, 1 June 2010 (EDT)

Just found another contradictory source: the 17th issue of the Chinese video-game magazine "记录" [Documentary] was on iQue, and it stated that:

2004年6月，神游推出小神游GBA，捆绑简体中文版《超级马力欧2》和《瓦力欧寻宝记》[。]
In the June of 2004, iQue released the iQue GBA console, bundled with the Simplified Chinese versions of Super Mario Advance and Wario Land 4.

And both this wiki and Wikipedia state that the GBA is released in China on June 8, 2004. This means these two games must have been released on or before the 8th day of that month. --A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 00:45, 28 February 2017 (EST)

The later date of June 30 could be the first stand-alone release of Wario Land 4. But the date for the earlier, bundle release date should take precedence. Thanks for looking into this!

Umm... and there's this webpage on Sina Games: it was a news item reprinting the press release of Super Mario Advance from iQue. The news item appeared on June 10, so the press release, and therefore the game release, must have been on or before June 10. Spikeball/Chestnut Enemy

Does anyone know what those rolling ball like things found at the end of the Mystic Lake stage are, and whether they have an article on Mario Wiki? These are the sprites for the obstacle I'm talking about:
