Hammer Bro. Rumour

PeteyPiranhaLover 21:45, 25 July 2006 (EDT) Who hopes that the rumours are true about Hammer Bro. appearing in Super Smash Bros. Brawl?

Not me, I don't want any generic enemies (Koopas, Goombas, Shy Guys) to be playable. Being in the background of stages or being trophies would be fine thought. -- Sir Grodus

I don't think a Hammer Brother has the potential to be a traditional character, but if there was some knid of new thingy for characters without a lot of moves, it'd be great. The main things I'm hoping for are Wario with pre-Wario Ware costume (Yellow shirt and purple overalls) and Geno. CrossEyed7 00:43, 3 August 2006 (EDT)

Mr. Game & Watch

Mr. Game & Watch is not really a true Marioverse character. He was in his own franchise long before anyone even heard of Mario. The recent Game & Watch series are more like cross-overs or updates of the classic Game & Watch games. Mario characters and Mr. Game & Watch don't even interact in the new games. As such, I think Mr. Game & Watch should be treated as a non-Mario first party character. -- Son of Suns

Okay, makes sense.HK

I hate to be mean, but you're wrong on two counts. First, Mario and Game & Watch run the secrets section in Game & Watch Gallery 4 together. Secondly, just because he's not a Mario character doesn't make him a 3rd party character. It would make him like a character from the Kid Icarus series. I would argue that since the only games he's actually appeared in have been Super Smash Bros. Melee and Game & Watch Gallery 4]], he is actually a Mario character anyway, but that's a different arguement. Stumpers! 18:00, 25 June 2007 (EDT)

Rumoured Characters

I think that the section on rumoured characters should be removed because it's not very encyclopedia-like. Half of the characters there don't even have a good chance of getting in, like Gooper Blooper. The whole thing is too fanboyish. 13-Volt 15:09, 17 December 2006 (EST)

I agree. Remove at will. -- Son of Suns

Graphics

Why do you think the graphics are so all-stiffed up in the SSB games, but not in the other?  Caps Lock LORD 08:25, 23 February 2007 (EST)

please use the Forum for that. I don't know. Max2

Whoa. Did I just use the word "stiffed"?  Caps Lock LORD 14:46, 22 May 2007 (EDT)

Returning Characters

Should we really have this, its not much better than rumoured characters as its still very opinionated. I mean, it even has speculation in the title. -- Sir Grodus

Release Date Unreliable and Highly Unlikely

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is not coming out on June 1, 2007. GameStop is a highly unreliable source, and they needed a date to put in their database. No announcement concerning release has been made. -- hisak

Thanks for the info. :) 3dhammer.gif 3D, we'll post that. 3dhammer.gif

Update

They say the update's today! But it's not! I'm having a meltdown!!!

Mariofan132

Obviously, it's referring to Japanese Time, as it is written just on the site. A new day has just started in Japan, and it's May 22nd there. You will still have to wait... - Cobold

Regarding Stage Design

Do the stages look a little simplistic to anyone? They don't seem to be anything more than a couple of platforms on a backdrop inspired by a game to me. I mean, Yoshi's Island looks good, but it's just a couple of platforms, too. So, the question I have is, are these the final stages? I hope they know what they're doing. Stumpers! 13:51, 26 June 2007 (EDT)

2 stages do. What about Delphino Plaza and Lylat Cruise? Max2 (talk)

I would say take it to teh forums, but...

I'm, pretty sure the stages will be changed in production. They haven't thought out the full design of the stage yet and they're just feeding to the press and fans to keep them quiet. But like the dramatic change that happened to SMRPG2 (now known as Paper Mario), I'm sure stages will go under dramatic changes too (for the better or the worse).Knife (talk) 14:01, 26 June 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, it would have probably been better on the forums. Oops. Heh, well, that's good to know. Thank you! Stumpers! 17:14, 26 June 2007 (EDT)

Looking at Bridge of Eldin and Smashville now, the action seems to be in the background of the stage. Most stages are simplistic. I hope there's still some stage like Onett in Brawl, with actual gameplay characteristics. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 17:37, 14 July 2007 (EDT)

I could see it really hurting the gameplay if the action was removed from the stage in favor of a few simplistic platforms... oh, well. Fingers crossed. Stumpers!

Release Date?

Is this Release Date accurate? I haven't seen any date for SSBB's release yet. So, did you just make it up, or is it official? Same thing with Super Mario Galaxy My Bloody Valentine

I've only seen confirmation for 2007, I don't know where this came from.

Frum LANKY KONG!

I fixed it anyway, so never mind. My Bloody Valentine

Zelda?

Since Zelda is comin back doesn't that meen the Sheik will to some 1 please anser this cause i really wanna kno. King Mario

Not exactly. Zelda might get a new attack, and Sheik has not made another appearance since Super Smash Bros. Melee, which was in 2001. So, it is sort of a 50-50% Chance. My Bloody Valentine

Yeah. Zelda has taken on a new, revised look from newer games, and Sheik would need to be reinvented to fit the style. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:48, 29 June 2007 (EDT)
Not really. Just because Zelda got a new design, doesn't mean Sheik has to get one. After all, Sheik hasn't made another appearance since Melee, so what design are they going to base her new appearace on? So, if she appears, she will most likely look the exact same. My Bloody Valentine
And Zelda having a different hair color than Sheik then? No way, this doesn't make sense. They cannot update half a character. I guess in this case we have to wait and see, no point arguing about possibilities. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 05:11, 29 June 2007 (EDT)
Good point. My Bloody Valentine
Sheik will not be coming back. Remember the Zelda in Melee was the one from Ocarina of Time. The one in Brawl will be the one from Twilight Princess. And since Sheik was not in Twilight Princess he won't be in SSBB. Toa Waluigi who is remembering to look outside the Marioverse.
Apart from that Sheik is female, that are my thoughts. But what's the point in arguing? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:57, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

Hold on, Sheik is male, isn't he?Knife (talk) 13:58, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

Despite Sheik's male appearance, Sheik is indeed a female.

Taken from the Sheik article. Also check the trophy descriptions. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:05, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

Sorry that was a typo. But technically Zelda is taking form of a male Sheikah so Sheik would a male.Toa Waluigi Who diddn't notice the missing s.

Not to sound harsh, but I didn't decide. Blame Nintendo. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:18, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

What's a typo? Knife (talk) 14:24, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

A typo is a spelling error, and please, let us stop arguing over this. First, we argue about wether or not she is in the game, then we argue about wether or not she in Male, this whole argument is pointless. Let's just wait until the game is released, which will be this year. My Bloody Valentine

POTENTIAL TWILIGHT PRINCESS SPOILER BELOW! I haven't beaten TP yet, but I did see a piece of artwork that looked like a Twilight-ified version of Zelda. Maybe that's going to be Sheik's replacement. Or maybe a grown up Tetra.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stumpers (talk).

Go ahead and finish the game. Things are really quite different. You're meant to be misleaded. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 10:46, 8 August 2007 (EDT)

END SPOILER

Just Curious...

Does anyone know what stage is in the background of the image I posted? Could it possibly be the Hyrule Castle/Temple?Knife (talk) 13:34, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

It's that what's listed as "castle of unknown origin" in the stages list. Because there is so little information about it yet, I decided not to create an article already. Hyrule Castle would be possible, though it didn't look exactly like that in Zelda TP. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:37, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

It looks more Fire Emblemish to me.Knife (talk) 13:51, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

We don't know what series it is from, so we are leaving it. My Bloody Valentine

Gallery / Images

This page has way too much images at the bottom. The galleries have an incredible size, which will only increase when the game comes nearer. The SSBM article has the characters' gallery implemented into the character section. Of course, it's hard to create something like a character bios right now, but at least the items, stages and Others need some fixing. Images should be either removed or placed into the actual article.

At a thought, he will also have to remove a lot of unuseful galleries at minor SSBB topics. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 17:11, 14 July 2007 (EDT)

Also, why do each stage/item article have 3-5 image each? Maybe we should cut it at one, maybe two images per article.Knife (talk) 22:20, 14 July 2007 (EDT)

I agree with that, having galleries of three-four images is kinda unneeded when one would do just as well. -- Sir Grodus

Zero Suit

Is she her own character?--Aipom_Banana_2.gif Aipom 424.png--

It's not like you can select her on the character selection screen or switch freely like Zelda & Sheik. When you use Samus's Zero Laser Final Smash, she will change to the Zero Suit, and stay that way for the remaining battle. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 06:12, 19 July 2007 (EDT)

Sonic the Hedgehog

Is sonic really going to be in the game?Cause I heard rumors going around that sonic won't be in the game is that true?F gLarrynana.gif

"Not on the cards at the moment" isn't a solid answer. -- Sir Grodus

So you're saying that there's a possibility that he might be in Brawl?F gLarrynana.gif

Unless stated outright by SEGA or whoevers making the game that he isn't going to be in it, I guess theres still a chance. A vague response isn't really a complete answer. -- Sir Grodus

Well,I hope he makes it in Brawl, but if not I'll sue SEGA!F gLarrynana.gif

There is a large chance of Sonic getting in. Why else do you think Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games was made. Additionally, if he IS in the game, the producers might say he isn't in the game to trick us. You never know with Nintendo, they like to build up suspense for a game. My Bloody Valentine

Stage Table

Should we do a table for the Stages as well? My Bloody Valentine

We could go with it, but the problem is that we do not have official artwork for all revealed stages, and inconsistency in the pictures might look bad. Same for items. That's also why I have not included pictures of both in the SSBM article. But if you still feel it would be good to create them, go ahead. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:43, 21 July 2007 (EDT)
I think we have official art for all the Items. Or at least Screenshots, screenshots will work fine. Stage, yeah, I guess that would be a problem. My Bloody Valentine

Faces in the Clouds?

This look notable to anyone, they changed the color of the cloud's darkened parts and look what resulted:[1] Of course, I think it may be fake, though I compared images, and it does look very convincing. -- Sir Grodus

They've got what looks like (left to right) Ganondorf, Master Hand, Bowser and Ridley, or something similar to him; and now that I compare again, I'm becoming more convinced this isn't a fraud. -- Sir Grodus

Don't worry, we can't assume anything yet. We'll just have to wait for the game to come out.Knife (talk) 17:17, 21 July 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, but it is pretty interesting and I just thought I'd point this out, though, now that I think about it, maybe the forum would have been a better place. -- Sir Grodus

I don't think we have to wait for the game to be released. Are you thinking this is the only update of that sorts? Also, it would logically make sense, as with Meta Knight they would have all villains of the game. Still, it would not be good to add that speculation to the article. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 05:14, 22 July 2007 (EDT)
Agreed. My Bloody Valentine

Agreed. -- Sir Grodus, who finds it weird how they used Meta Knight instead of King Dedede.

Animal Crossing

Actually for KK Slider, that could be the way to unlock him.--Aipom_Banana_2.gif Aipom 424.png--

What are you talking about? It is also very unlikely that a character from the background of a stage is playable. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:13, 23 July 2007 (EDT)
...or is it?! You never know. He is the best choice from Animal Crossing (he's the most identifiable with the series, followed by Tom Nook and Resetti) Stumpers! 10:25, 8 August 2007 (EDT)

Sonic

It says in the article that they anounced Sonic for the game. Do we have proof?--Toa Waluigi 12:03, 23 July 2007 (EDT)

I have seen no truly reliable source yet. If I don't find anyone soon, I think the section will have to go again. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:13, 23 July 2007 (EDT)

Some Melee characters won't see Brawl?

Where was it stated by an OFFICIAL and RELIABLE source that some characters from Super Smash Bros. Melee wouldn't return for Super Smash Bros. Brawl? There's been speculation for this, but when did Nintendo actually state this? -Dodester

I saw a source on Wikipedia, they were quoting some staff member's blog. But apparently, it is removed there now, so I, who added that to the article, am also starting to wonder whether it's true. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:55, 24 July 2007 (EDT)
I find Wikipedia to be a lot less reliable on anything than specific Wikis; due to the whole "ANYONE can edit" thing. But, since there's no source we can find right now, should we just delete that bit?

Ummm... sure?Knife (talk) 17:29, 24 July 2007 (EDT)

The guy creating the game, Sakurai, said some Melee characters won't be returning in his old blog journal thing. -- Sir Grodus

...Link? -Dodoman

I probably won't be able to find it; regardless, its in Japanese. -- Sir Grodus

It's simple. Walaa happy? Max2 (talk) lol

I'm pretty sure it wasn't on the site and was somewhere else; its also pretty old. -- Sir Grodus

Yeah, I remember it too. Tadaa!2.gifPlumberTadaaa!.gif 22:42, 25 July 2007 (EDT)

I'm thinking it was on the site. I'm guessing though, that he was referring to people like Marth, Roy, and Sheik. In other words, characters who were only in one game. Stumpers!
