In Super Mario 3D Land, can Mario use the Statue Leaf in the normal worlds?

- Yes. This is modeled after Jizou-sama, the Japanese analogue of Ksitigarbha; the characters even mean "earth matrix." Jizou-sama is said to be especially protective of dead children, and people who have dangerous professions or who are going far, far away will ask for his protection. He is also Bodhisattva of the Hells, meaning some very lucky beings in the various Buddhist Hells might be visited by him at some point. -- Azuma Hazuki

If you turn into Statue Mario while underwater in Super Mario 3D Land, will he sink rapidly like in Super Mario Bros. 3?
