Ties at 0Edit

My edit was reverted due to it being "obvious" but what I added was most certainly not obvious, or at least I thought it wasn't. To my knowledge, any other battle minigame where there's a two- or three-way tie at 0 points would result in a tie for 3rd or 2nd, respectively. This is the only minigame I'm aware of where tying at 0 does something different than tying at any other number. For example, Globe Gunners, the only other minigame in MPDS where such a tie is possible, has what I believe to be the "normal" behavior. Anyways, I was going to add my paragraph back, rewording to make it clear that this is not the normal behavior, but I just couldn't make it complete and concise because I don't actually know what the "normal" behavior should be. MPDS is the only Mario Party I've played, so if someone could look into how these ties are handled in other Mario Party games, that would help a lot. mathfreak231 15:53, June 13, 2019 (EDT)

The wording of your edit was misleading then. "Players who don't touch any starts (supposed to be Stars) will always get 4th place" is obvious, as not doing anything will lead to losing, unless you're Luigi. If what you're saying is correct, the paragraph would read something like this:

In the event of a two- or three-way tie at 0 points, the player will finish in 3rd or 2nd, respectively. Unlike other minigames where ties below the winning player will result in a loss, this is the only minigame where players still receive a ranking for losing.

Something like that. I haven't done this myself, but I have the game, so maybe I'll check one day, if I can get my brothers to coordinate.    16:02, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
It's the opposite. In Star Catchers, getting 0 points means you will always rank 4th even in a tie, but in Globe Gunners, tying at 0 is the same as tying at any other number, you will rank 3rd or 2nd. Since there's 1 of each case in this game, we should consult other games to see which is the more typical behavior. mathfreak231 16:07, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
"In Star Catchers, getting 0 points means you will always rank 4th even in a tie" Yeah, this is obvious, as it applies to any minigame. Except Globe Gunners, apparently. Did you switch the names? I though the point was Star Catchers having a different ranking system.    16:10, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
Really? I didn't know that the Star Catchers behavior was actually typical. I'd need to double check but iirc Globe Gunners would be the oddball, yes. mathfreak231 16:16, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
...Okay, I misread something. My bad. I connected "any other battle minigame where there's a two- or three-way tie at 0 points would result in a tie for 3rd or 2nd, respectively" to Star Catchers, not everything else.    16:23, June 13, 2019 (EDT)
