Trivia

The trivia section of this article is overly long. It should be shortened, implemented in the main article or removed. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:59, 7 June 2007 (EDT)

I've never heard of him being called "blue blur" Before. Mario riding YoshiXzelionETC
Nor have I. I think that can be removed; it isn't very Mario-related anyway. YELLOWYOSHI398

I think he was called that in a Sonic instruction manual, but yeah, no relation to Mario.Knife (talk) 15:08, 7 June 2007 (EDT) I'm gonna change my name back to Spike

He is called that cause hes blue and when you are at supersonic speed you are a blur, but yeah, nothing to do with Mario. By the way is there a Sonic wikipedia?Smileymiley5001

Spin Dash article?

Huh... in the trailer, the Sonic attack looks exactly like the Spin Dash in the Sonic series... Click. Can someone do an article about that? or is better wait for the official name? (Super Sonic has an article, and we don't know the official SSBB name of this technique after all...)--Caith Sith 21:38, 10 October 2007 (EDT)

I think we should wait, and it might not even be the Spin Dash(Could be the Spin Attack, their different things). ~Uniju(T-C-E)
I agree with Uniju, we should wait for official confirmation. My Bloody Valentine
Quite obviously there will be a Sonic: Special Moves character update this week or the next, which will give official names for some of the moves. Wa Yoshihead.png TC@Y 21:46, 10 October 2007 (EDT)

Super Sonic- evidence that it's his Final Smash

Found a gameplay vid where Sonic gets a Smash Ball. What Final Smash does he use? Why, Super Sonic. I think we can change that "may or may not be his Final Smash" bit now. ;)

Here's a link to the vid: http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/15372

Don't worry- already got this on the Super Sonic talk page as well. Dinosaur bob 19:13, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

Stickers

I believe the last two stickers are from Sonic Adventure and/or Sonic Adventure 2. In any case, they definitely aren't from the original two Sonic games. Stumpers! 11:29, 13 October 2008 (EDT)

Age

Right in the beginning it says that Sonic is 15 years old. Is this actually mentioned in a game(I don't play the Sonic series), or did Sonic first appear in a game 15 years ago?- I thought he was 18. Fawfulfury65 (talk)

Also it says tHAT he is the only known video game character to age. But didn't mario age from Baby mario?

Breakdancemario.gifM64FanBreakdancemario.gif

I think "aging" means that he slightly ages between his games, like in reality. Mario for example doesn't age. He may have an infant form, but in the games he appears as an adult, he's always around the same age. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 13:34, 15 October 2009 (EDT)

I thought not only 1 or more video game characters were aged. Sonic first appeared in a game with his own name in 1991. Artwork of Dry Bones from Mario Party 8.Happy Halloween! Bone Goomba.png I never thought about his age intill now.Does anyone know exactly how old he is? amy808080 (talk)

These are just rumors. We have to wait for official confirmation of the game before we assume. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C)

Sonic Characters have New Actors

Hello

Did you know that the Sonic Characters have new voice actors. Be aware of that for the 3rd Mario and Sonic Game. --Plumber690 20:25, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

@Fawful117

Why do you insist on removing that piece of information? That is who Sonic really is and that info should stay unless that info is somewhere else in the article. Zero777 (talk)

That's the thing! Sonic's not the one who makes rash decisions, Knuckles is! Sometimes in the series, Dr. Eggman tricks Knuckles into doing certain things to help defeat Sonic! Like, take Sonic 3, for example. Eggman tricked Knuckles into thinking that Sonic and Tails were bad guys who were trying to steal the Master Emerald. So, in conclusion, Knuckles is the one who makes rash decisions, not Sonic! >=(

Shortened trivia

I think It needs to be shortened. A lot of the trivia is not very necessary and does not relate to Mario at all. Goombob XD (talk) 14:48, 14 May 2013 (EDT)Goombob

Actually most of it is to with Brawl, which is a spin-off series but still counts. However, some of it could probably be incorporated into the article. Yoshi876 (talk)

Potential nod to old rivalry in the 2020 movie?

Question.svg This talk page or section has a conflict or a question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

I was wondering if anyone thought it would be worth mentioning how in the movie, Sonic repeatedly says he hates mushrooms at the idea of a world full of nothing but mushrooms, which seems like it could be a dig at the amount of them in Mario games. Admittedly, the initial scene this is brought up contains some cues to "Mushroom Hill" from Sonic & Knuckles, but the bashing thereof seems a tad suspect IMO. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:39, February 15, 2020 (EST)

The same thought crossed my mind, but what would have really cemented it to me would have been if he said he's gotta "trust the fungus" at some point, given how the other sketches on his world paper are all Sonic or Sega references. LinkTheLefty (talk) 07:14, February 18, 2020 (EST)
Well, (spoiler posting) given the ending has a red-clad mustachioed man stuck there and talking to the mushrooms like they're people after going crazy, there might be something...also, pretty sure it's consistently called "Mushroom Planet" in the film. Anyways, I don't think the planet itself was a reference so much as Sonic's very specific disdain for mushrooms. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:17, February 18, 2020 (EST)
I might have misheard the "Mushroom Planet" as "Mushroom Valley" at one point, but do you remember if it was called "Mushroom World" anywhere? I wonder if it's possible that the writers stumbled upon the Wikia version of the Mushroom World article (which this wiki previously resembled a while back, with the wild "Mario's planet" claims) and loosely based the concept on that. LinkTheLefty (talk) 07:28, February 22, 2020 (EST)
Pretty sure it was never called that, though the thought also came up. Really though, it's more about Sonic's disgust than the location itself. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:42, February 22, 2020 (EST)
To be fair, I'm not sure he was disgusted at the thought of mushrooms themselves so much as the idea of escaping to a world without a sign of sapient life, which would have made him even lonelier. LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:32, February 22, 2020 (EST)
True, though he sort of uses the mushrooms as a verbal scapegoat. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:54, February 22, 2020 (EST)
