Talk:Shroobified

Dr. Shroob links here. I really don't think they should. On a side note, does this mean that Toadsworth had the same happen to them? I highly doubt that, considering there are tones of Shroobsworths. I don't think he's on the list, but it's a fact that you might want to consider in regards to this article.-Stumpers

I am pretty sure that Shroobified does not refer to Shroob-like creatures, only those turned into Shroob mushrooms and areas changed to be covered with purple mushrooms. This is the only way the characters in the game use this term. -- Son of Suns
Good point. Actually, I'm not sure if this should be an article at all. It seems like it was just some characters saying stuff, really. Maybe as a condition, though. What do you think? Stumpers
Well, either a section about this could be added to the Shroob article, or this can remain its own page. It is relevant information, and should be placed somewhere. -- Son of Suns
Meh, it seems to be doing fine. Sorry for the huge delay in responding. I think its fine here now that its been proven to not just be fanon. -Stumpers

The Term

This question is out of curiosity, but is "Shroobified" an official Nintendo term? I mean, I was typing up the Shroob Castle article and used the word "Shroobified", thinking that it would get corrected to a different word, and then this article was created. At the least we should put the conjecture template. --King Piranha Plant 11:01, 21 October 2006 (EDT)

The term Shroobified is used by characters in the game. It is not conjectural. -- Son of Suns
That's very odd. XD I completely made the word Shroobified up, and next thing I know it was being used in the game. Weird. Alright then, now I know. --King Piranha Plant 02:19, 22 October 2006 (EDT)
You probably subconciously remembered the term from the game and used it in your articles. -- Son of Suns
Either that or it was just a really amazing coincidence :) Kudos. -Stumpers

The title should be Shroob-ified, shouldn't it?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Max2 (talk).

Why? Is that how it's spelled in the game? Do you have a quote? -- Son of Sons

no, but... I really think there's a dash somewhere in the name, and Shroobified looks... well, I'm not sure... wait, confused. Maxlover2 20:35, 19 February 2007 (EST)

Nevermind. I looked carefully, and the only time it is spelled Shroob-ified is when Stuffwell babbles on the mothership. Maxlover2 Sorry!

Re-toadification

"When exposed to these tears, people who have been turned into Shroob Mushrooms will return to their normal selves, a process known as re-toadification, even when used in reference to non-Toads." Where is proof that it is called "re-toadification" and the term is used referring to non-Toads? -Gary Koopa

Redirect

Shouldn't we redirect this page seeing that Fawfulization a similar term was redirected over to Fawful? Fawful's Minion (talk)

I think this has a stronger base than "Fawfulization", seeing that the term "Fawfulized" is a one-off gag made by a character known to play around with words and is unclear if Fawful is even referring to this process. You could make a case to turn this at least into a redirect because I think this article is pretty weak as well, especially given that the term isn't really explored in the game, although we do get to see characters transform into Shroob Mushrooms, lending a bit more credibility than "Fawfulized". Furthermore, it is not clear whenever this term refers to Shroob-based enemies and/or the transformation into a Shroob Mushroom, so the article gets all wishy-washy and tries to do both. It doesn't give me confidence points that the term is stretched to cover both processes. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! What should this cover?

Several enemies are listed here due to resembling both Shroobs and other Mario enemies, but in the game, it was solely used to describe Peach's Castle, ie a location. The only things outright being shown transformed onscreen are when NPCs are turned into Shroob Mushrooms, and Yoshis being put inside of Yoob Eggs, which are decidedly different from how things like Shroob Rex and Spiny Shroopa operate. Then there's the fact that Lakitufo and "Scoot Bloop" are on here, despite not even resembling Shroobs. What I'm getting at is this: there is nothing in the game saying any of these enemies are in a transformed state, and they aren't simply naturally-occurring counterparts from Planet Shroob, similar to the counterparts of enemies found in the BeanBean Kingdom. Especially with Lakitufo, it's clearly affiliated with Shroobs but hasn't been "turned into" one. EDIT: Apparently Lakitufo is no longer on this list, but I'm pretty sure it's still on the Shroob page. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:36, 17 August 2017 (CT)

l think it's more likely that the enemies were shroobified rather than being 'naturally occurring'. Although we know that Mushroom Kingdom enemies appear in space (Galaxy and Galaxy 2), the Mushroom Kingdom and Space counterparts appear to be nearly identical in most cases therefore, I think the partners in time enemies resembling shroobs have most likely been shroobified weather they were from Planet Shroob or not. Seandwalsh (talk) 11:54, 12 November 2017 (EST)

Since the idea that the listed enemies were mutated or transformed is speculative at best, this article should not cover them. So that leaves us with the process of transforming things into Shroob Mushrooms, which is redundant with the Shroob Mushroom article itself. So my answer is "redirect this thing and call it a day." Merge this page to Shroob Mushroom

As far as I can tell, this page's name is conjectural. After digging through the manual, the guide (thank you, Alex95!), and the raw dump of the game's script (thank you, Mister Wu!), the term doesn't appear anywhere. "Shroobification", "shroobified", "shroobed", whatever, it's not there. A conjectural name doesn't necessarily mean that the page should be deleted, but it means that EDIT: the term "Shroobified" does appear in-game, in a small line of text (thanks to Yoshi the SMM for the info!). However, this doesn't change how we're lumping together subjects that have no basis being together. As 7feetunder pointed out above, there is no indication that any of the Shroob enemies went through a "Shroobification" process (besides maybe Yoob), so it's speculative to include them here in the first place. At the same time, the only transformation process that we actually see is never elaborated upon; random characters are poofed into Shroob Mushrooms, and there's nothing more to it. Thus, literally any information about it would be covered on the page that I just linked to. Considering the tiny amount of salvageable info here, this page should be merged to Shroob Mushroom and not completely deleted (I'll also ask that this page remain as a redirect if only because a lot of places use that term).

It wasn't found by a raw dump of the game script, yet I was able to find it from the information from a save album. Specifically from the save album before the final bosses. However, the rest of the points are valid. If this changes, I will vote for this. The merge would still be accepted. Either that or creating an article on Fawfulization. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 14:59, 10 February 2018 (EST)

"Fawfulized" was only ever used in reference to the Sea Pipe Statue and robotic Peach Castle, neither of which display any Fawful-like traits like Fawful Guys do. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:11, 10 February 2018 (EST)
Ah, I understand what happened. The file I had only contained the game's dialogue, and not the save album description. I edited the proposal to reflect this new info. Thank you! Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:37, 10 February 2018 (EST)
I actually found the quote you're talking about: At last! Mario has all five Cobalt Star shards! Now you can enter Peach's Castle of the past from the third floor of the present-day Peach's Castle! You must hurry and save the Shroobified Toadbert and Kylie! From this text it's clear that Shroobified actually just means turned into a Shroob Mushroom, so ultimately the proposal is correct.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:30, 22 February 2018 (EST)
