Rogueport is the main town and starting point in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Mario comes here at the beginning of the game to meet Princess Peach because she found a magical treasure map. In Rogueport, there is an item shop, the Lovely Howz of Badges, the Pianta Parlor, and two entrances to the Rogueport Sewers.

The town is divided into five sections, the north side, the west side, the main plaza, the docks, and the east side. Mario will be moving through here constantly throughout the game. He can also find his brother Luigi in the different areas of Rogueport during different chapters.

It is unknown if Rogueport and it's surrounding areas are a part of the Mushroom Kingdom.

See that. The caption. And the final sentence. HK

What about it? --Son of Suns

Never mind. My bad..... HK

Unknown if...[edit]

Actually, one character in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door stated something to the extent that Peach, Mario, and Toadsworth should return to the Mushroom Kingdom. That would imply that Rougueport is not part of the Kingdom. That brings up the question of what kingdom (if any) it belongs to... -Stumpers

I think it still should be counted as an outskirt of the Mushroom Kingdom, given that it's within short sailing distance. Monty Mole

This is a quote from Peach's e-mail that she sends Mario. "Hello there, Mario! I am now on holiday, traveling in the Mushroom Kingdom. In my travels, I came into possession of a mystical map...a treasure map, actually. I thought you could help me hunt for it! You will, of course, won't you? I'll meet your at Rogueport. (That means you MUST come!) -Peach" I think it proves the Rogueport is indeed in the Mushroom Kingdom. It is more likely on the outskirts of the Mushroom Kingdom, seeing as Luigi had to stop there numerous times while traveling between locations in the Waffle Kingdom. (meaning the two places are very near each other) --Sml007.5 08:05, 13 August 2006 (EDT)

The PM2 map could be either on the left or right side of the first PM map. Both have mountains on the sides, so it could be just beyond either of those mountain ranges. Either way Mario would need a boat to reach it. --User:Yoshi Mastar 13:42, 13 August 2006 (EDT)

Well then, we can get rid of the "unknown if" thing and put a "is" in its place! Thanks so much, Sm1007.5! -Stumpers

In the princess's e-mail didn't she say they stopped in Rogueport just for supplies. -- Sir Grodus

^But Toadsworth said they stopped for fuel.

I have a thought...[edit]

Maybe, the PM Map is to the east of the PMTTYD Map, them the rest of the mushroom kingdom is to the left of the PM mapm and the BeanBean kingdom is to the north. Like in this map... Max2 Who also made the map, so dont mark it unsigned!!!

BeanBean------------------------------------------------------------BeanBean

PM: TTYD----------An Ocean, lake, some kind of water------------PM

Beanbean Kingdom is to the south of the Mushroom Kingdom, as evidenced by Stardust Fields being the border between the two and it being in the north of the Beanbean Kingdom. Jellyfloater

One note is that the Beanbean Kingdom is southwest of the Mushroom Kingdom; while the Beanbean Borderlands/Stardust Fields crossing is in the north-central part of the Beanbean Kingdom, Peach's Castle is visible to the northeast. This implies that the bay west of Toad Town on the PM map is not large, and the Mushroom Kingdom has territory to the southwest of it. Maybe Rogueport is on this bay. More like this:

X--------Fahr-------------------------------------Shiver Region------------------------

X----------------Rogueport------------------------------------------Koopa Bros. Fortress

Beanbean Border----Keelhaul Key-------------Toad Town-------------------Dry Dry Outpost

Beanbean Castle------------------------Lavalava Island-----------------------------------

Where other countries like Grass Land, Dark Land, Sarasaland, and Dinosaur Land lie is unknown and most likely unknowable. I would place the Lands from SMB3 to the east of the Mushroom Kingdom following the SMA4 map, which fits well. The others are much more speculative. Sarisa

Rogueport's Flag[edit]

Being the observant person I am, I noticed that in Podley's Place, there's a flag hanging on the wall. I think this could be Rogueport's flag. Should I put it in trivia as something like "the flag in Podley's Place could possibly be Rogueport's flag"? or something like that? Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk)

That sounds a bit more important than something relegated to trivia. Get a screencap and I think it'd do much better in the article itself. Redstar 18:56, 28 December 2009 (EST)
An article about a flag on a wall, which nobody in the game has ever talked about? No, this flag could be anything, from from a random flag, over mere decoration, to the emblem of Podley's favourite sports team. Until someone explicitly states that this is Rogueport's flag, we shouldn't make any assumptions. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 19:14, 28 December 2009 (EST)
I think what Redstar meant was just to have a picture and a sentence about it, not an article itself. Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk)
Ah, my apologies, I misread "the article" for "an article". x_X Well, but it is still speculation after all. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 20:14, 28 December 2009 (EST)

Rogueport as part of the Mushroom Kingdom[edit]

Should we keep Rogueport and its surrounding areas as part of the Mushroom Kingdom? The game implies several times that it is a separate location.

  • Goombella says "Um... Princess Peach? Did he mean, like, Peach, the Mushroom Kingdom princess?!?" upon learning that it is Peach who sent Mario the Magical Map. Her wording implies the Mushroom Kingdom is a separate location, although both Mario and Peach are famous for being from there.
  • No mention of the country's actual location or ruler is made by any character.
  • Mario does not appear to be recognized by many people, which make it unlikely the game takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom, particularly since other games taking place in the Mushroom Kingdom (Paper Mario 64, Sticker Star) show Mario to be a celebrity in his own country, while he has varying levels of fame in other locations (Mario & Luigi 1, 4...)
  • The only source used for Rogueport being part of the Mushroom Kingdom is Peach's mention in her letter that she stopped there while on a trip in the Mushroom Kingdom (Toadsworth clarifies that their stop was for fuel). However, Luigi's adventure takes place in the Waffle Kingdom (Strudel Continent, Rumblebump Volcano, Plumpbelly Village, Circuit Break Island, Jazzafrazz Town, Rapturous Ruins, Grumble Forest, Hatesong Tower) yet he regularly stops at Rogueport. Here is what he has to say:
    • "So yeah, here I am! I'm sailing out of Rougeport for Rumblebump Volcano."
    • " Now the compass pointed west, to Plumpbelly Village on the Strudel Continent. So I set sails once again and came back here to Rougeport to recharge."
    • "We set sail again after ditching town... And somehow we managed to get back here to Rougeport. And here I am!"
    • "So, after that, I got back on my boat... And came back here to Rougeport."
    • "Then I got back on my boat. I came back to Rougeport, and here I am, another leg of my adventure completed!"
    • "Anyway, I headed back here to Rougeport after that. I'm making my final preparations for my final battle now."

From the above, we can deduce that Rogueport is a common stop for those who travel by boat. Peach stopped there in her travels in the Mushroom Kingdom, but Luigi stopped there in his travels in the Waffle Kingdom yet we are not claiming that Rogueport is part of the Waffle Kingdom. As such, I suggest we change its location from the Mushroom Kingdom to the Mushroom World (which encompasses all Mushroom Kingdom-like areas, including the Mushroom Kingdom itself as seen in Paper Mario 64) or, at least, to "unknown" or "between the Mushroom Kingdom and the Waffle Kingdom". Even promotional material for the game is vague about Rogueport's location, as this: http://www.mariowiki.com/File:Paper_Mario_Series_EU_Art.png and other official descriptions for Paper Mario TTYD refer to the game's area as a "mysterious island". This is the closest we actually have for Rogueport's official location. Koopalmier (talk) 13:14, 20 August 2016 (EDT)

Just to clarify (as I'm still thinking about my opinion on this), the "Mushroom World", as the wiki uses it, refers exclusively to the eight areas in Super Mario Bros. 3 - expanding it to include any other locations would be speculation. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 13:56, 20 August 2016 (EDT)
Yoshi's Safari refers to Mario's home as the "Mushroom World" in the ending, and Paper Mario refers to the world of the game as the "Mushroom World" as well. The Mushroom Kingdom is clearly part of the Mushroom World alongside the 8 worlds of Super Mario Bros. 3, and reasonable speculation would be that any area that is Mushroom Kingdom-esque is part of the Mushroom World as well (as the Mushroom Kingdom is described as a "gateway" to the Mushroom World in SMB3). But it remains conjecture, which is why I think we should at least change Rogueport (and surrounding areas)'s location to something else than "Mushroom Kingdom". Koopalmier (talk) 22:33, 20 August 2016 (EDT)
It is kind of like Isle Delfino and Beanbean Kingdom, Mario, Peach, and Toadsworth travel there. It is clear that these two are separate from Mushroom Kingdom. I may be one of the few people that believe that the Mushroom Kingdom is the Mushroom World, so I won't support the idea that this is part of the Mushroom World. I personally believe that the world which Mushroom Kingdom and all the other 3 and the Waffle Kingdom is part of Mario's World. In the Mario World, it says that Mario's World is referred as the land which the Smithy Gang tried to conquer, but in the Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars article, it say that they are taking over the world which is referring to the whole world, so there is proof of what I personally believe in is true. If this wiki is not willingly wanting to expand Mario World article to include all of what I mentioned, I understand, but the mention of this is part of the Mushroom Kingdom must be removed. If you really want to expand on this, the Mario Boards are a great way to do so because it involves personal opinions of everyone. I am putting this here because I am not on the Mario Boards yet. See my reply to to Time Turnr. Koopalmier (talk) 22:33, 20 August 2016 (EDT)
The wiki tends to stay far, far away from anything that remotely resembles speculation. Even if you're willing to put forward that there's enough proof to reasonably consider the locations a part of the "Mushroom World", it would go against the proposal I linked to above. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 09:22, 21 August 2016 (EDT)
It was only a suggestion - my point is that the location needs to be changed from "Mushroom Kingdom" to something else. The closest official information we have is that Paper Mario TTYD takes place on a "mysterious island" and the in-game information we have is that it neighbors the Mushroom Kingdom and the Waffle Kingdom. Koopalmier (talk) 10:05, 21 August 2016 (EDT)

the suggestion presented here is well-argued and reasonable. I have no opposition to this and I have no idea why all the responses are gish-galloping about the "mushroom world" instead of what's being actually brought up *ahem*. --Glowsquid (talk) 11:07, 21 August 2016 (EDT)

Old discussion, but when Mario and crew get on the boat during the ending, they exclaim "Set a course for the Mushroom Kingdom!" LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:05, 2 February 2019 (EST)
