What about the birds from Flock Step in 9-Volt's textbook? That should count as a reference. 96.238.159.192 13:15, 1 September 2018 (EDT)

Delete page and move content to List of Mario references in Nintendo video gamesEdit

This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

do nothing 2-11
I'm proposing this change because Rhythm Heaven Megamix simply is not a Mario game at all. The Mario-related content in it is limited to two bonus levels that pay homage to WarioWare by being re-skinned versions of main game levels. A couple of sprites, and nothing else. This is less substantial Mario content than, say, "Just Mario" in Just Dance (which borrows music and visuals from the Mario games), or the Mario sets in Animal Crossing, both of which are relegated to the reference list pages.

Needless to say, if this proposal passes, List of Rhythm Heaven Megamix staff will also be deleted. The only content that will be moved to List of Mario references in Nintendo video games is the "Wario...Where?" section.

  1. Shiny K-Troopa (talk) Per my proposal.
  2. MegaBowser64 (talk) Per proposal, I mean I’m really on the fence about this one, but I don’t really believe it deserves an article. Since the WarioWare themed levels don’t have any unique gameplay and the only new content is 2D visuals, I don’t think this qualifies as a guest appearance.

Do nothingEdit

  1. Spectrogram (talk) Looking through this, it is very clear to me that this game deserves to stay as a guest appearance.
  2. Glowsquid (talk) It's a whole set of challenges that has you play as the WW characters. Also as pointed out the comments, half the rationale provided by the proposer is already wrong.
  3. Hewer (talk) Per all, and also being just "a couple sprites" hasn't stopped Tetris, Tetris DS, AR Games, Nintendo Badge Arcade, StreetPass Mii Plaza, Art Style: PiCTOBiTS, etc. from being covered.
  4. Waluigi Time (talk) Per all.
  5. Camwoodstock (talk) - Our obvious bias for loving Rhythm Heaven aside, not only did Glowsquid/Spectrogram point out we are very literally playing as the WarioWare characters, as Hewer points out, we've given "cameo" appearances with substantial importance in their respective games articles on their own, and those haven't gone contested. Probably the most shining example of this that Hewer didn't note is how Densetsu no Stafy 3 gets an article because it has a Wario Land 4 themed stage, complete with a stage gimmick of Stafy using Wario's transformation abilities to solve puzzles. This game's article and its existence has gone entirely uncontested as something we're more than alright to cover, even when Stafy's article is currently a blanket redirect to his Smash Bros. assist trophy (no, we're not counting Starfish for this). If we're fine to cover the third Stafy game as long as we don't have any extraneous articles that'd be better for the Stafy wiki, then Rhythm Heaven Megamix can be on the wiki as long as we don't make something like, say, an article on the Tap Trial monkeys.
  6. Arend (talk) A proposal from a couple months prior that would regard Sonic Lost World as a guest appearance (due to the Yoshi's Island Zone DLC course) had succeeded; I feel like the "Wario... Where?" Challenge Train stages are on the same level, considering they're both levels that are heavily themed towards a Mario-related game series; they don't obviously do it the same way (with one plopping Sonic in the Yoshi world and the other plopping Wario characters in the Rhythm Heaven World), but I don't think that means one should be treated as less significant than the other. Per all.
  7. Killer Moth (talk) Per all.
  8. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.
  9. PnnyCrygr (talk) Per cam wood and arend
  10. Sdman213 (talk) Definitely per all.
  11. ThePowerPlayer (talk) Per all.

CommentsEdit

By the way, Just Dance's proposal to become a guest appearance passed less than a month ago. Spectrogram (talk) 11:41, May 7, 2023 (EDT)

In my view, saying that, say, 18-Volt is playable in Megamix because of the "Wario...Where?" challenge is like saying Link is playable in WarioWare: Smooth Moves because of the Legend of Zelda microgame. It's a cute game-within-a-game cameo, nothing more. Shiny K-Troopa Talk 12:03, May 7, 2023 (EDT)

We do say that Link is playable there, not to mention the Balloon Fighter article consists mostly of these cameos. What's your point? Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 12:11, May 7, 2023 (EDT)
And how about Crygor is playable in mega mix due to appearing in freeze frame? He is a reskin of TJ snapper, so maybe the playabel status is questionable. The same for Ashley as reskin of the girl in tap trial   PnnyCrygr   20:40, May 10, 2023 (EDT)

Post-proposal discussionEdit

@MegaBowser64: I know I'm nitpicking here, but according to MarioWiki:Coverage, if it's a guest appearance, then we leave this page as is. If the appearance is more like a cameo, then we delete the page and move the references to the other page. MarioComix (talk) 01:37, May 22, 2023 (EDT)

That’s what I’m trying to say: I believe it’s a cameo and should be deleted. I found evidence on the page you provided that this game could definitely qualify as a cameo appearance, seeing as the WarioWare characters are only somewhat playable and can be removed without any large impact on the game. In that case, according to the rules, it should be deleted. MegaBowser64 (talk) 16:28, May 22, 2023 (EDT)
Oops, my bad, I misread your comment. MarioComix (talk) 00:31, May 23, 2023 (EDT)
