Piranha Plant?[edit]
This thing is weird. Piranha Plants are supposed to have a somewhat leafy stem and a spotted flower bulb for a head; the only indication that it's some sort of plant are the leaves on its head, which Mole also shares. On the times when Piranha Plants aren't grounded, usually the plant design plays with its stem as leafy limbs; this thing instead has small, animal-like limbs (two arms and two feet). Piranha Plants have a big mouth with many sharp teeth; this thing has a smaller mouth with two fangs/canines. Really the main visual similarity it has with a normal Piranha Plant is its visible lack of eyes. It is also passed up from Viridi's list of Piranha Plant variations in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (not the only one missing, e.g. Mario vs. Donkey Kong's Dōryī-like Tane Pakkun, but it seems notable as Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a direct spinoff/prequel of a mainsteam Super Mario game, and more recent games received mentions). - I mean yeah, the mouth is smaller with less teeth, but it's also just a sprout. Considering every language makes reference to Piranha Plants, I think it would be grasping at straws to say they're not. --

- Every single language makes the connection to Piranha Plants (even the Japanese name, which is an ostensible pun), so I also think you're overthinking this.

- To elaborate on what I meant by "misinterpreted," let me additionally point out that every other single "official" derivative of Piranha Plant, in Japanese, has the word Packun, Flower, or both. Kun is just as likely to be the root. LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:06, November 15, 2021 (EST)

- Seems more reasonable to say that it's meant to be a Piranha Plant connection than not. I think not classifying these as Piranha Plants just because the Japanese name only might not be meant to refer to them when everything else points to them being Piranha Plants, even the Japanese name depending on interpretation, would be far too confusing for readers. -- Too Bad! - I'm bringing it up more as a starting point. Are there no official enemy descriptions that can help? (Also, hold on, I added mention of the Japanese name after you said "every language makes reference to Piranha Plants", so who said it was just because of that? I'm more wondering if this can be better reclassified in regards to the highly visually similar Mole, potentially as a hybrid to explain the peculiarities.) unique to the Switch/3DS era revamp of the website(Scratch that, it was on the original version too. Apparently, like Piranha Sprouts, I have no eyes), wasn't very enlightening though. (Here, for reference) The Wii U manual doesn't mention them at all. -- Too Bad! - It seems there is a Shogakukan guide, but I don't have that one. For now, since there isn't any interest in my initial idea of moving Piranha Plant from parent species to relatives, let me rephrase: is there any interest in moving Mole from relatives to parent species, as this Piranha Sprout looks a lot like a cross between the two? Except for the Piranha Plant-esque "face", its body actually has more in common with Mole. In fact, the parts making up the Mole and Nukkun models are very similar to each other.
