Eh? The Super Mario RPG item is here. The other Frying Pans are here. Is this even an official name? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:48, 27 October 2007 (EDT)

I don't think so. It doesn't sound official. — Stooben Rooben Conjecture alert!
I think this article should be moved to Frying Pan (Peach) because Frying Pan is the name that Super Mario RPG gives it so it is official. A Link to the Present 18:51, 18 January 2011 (EST)

Move[edit]

This is explicitly called "Frying Pan" in SMRPG. This should either take priority for the "Frying Pan" name or have "weapon" as an identifier. Either way, the other one should be moved to "Frying Pan (Paper Mario)." Alternatively, they could just be merged outright, though I feel that's a bit less likely, since unlike, say, Hammer, this is only consistently used as a weapon in this case. Admittedly, there are also those Hammer Bros. in Super Mario Odysssey that use infinite pans as weapons, so maybe a full merge with a mention of that as well is a more valid option. Thoughts? Yeah, that makes more sense. My edit countPinkYoshiFanMy wikirby userpage 17:01, May 4, 2020 (EDT)
This should definitely be renamed to its official title, and I personally feel like it would make sense to keep this and the Frying Pan from Paper Mario separate, since they are used for very different purposes. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Agreed. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 18:27, May 4, 2020 (EDT)
Definitely agreed, I'm surprised this has been conjectural so long. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 12:25, May 11, 2020 (EDT)
Yeah, I also agree.Duckfan77 (talk) 12:28, May 11, 2020 (EDT)
Should we make a TPP, or would that not be needed since everyone agrees? My edit countPinkYoshiFanMy wikirby userpage 15:01, May 12, 2020 (EDT)
This won't need a proposal. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:21, May 12, 2020 (EDT)
I feel like merging every frying pan into one article would get messy, but it could also work. The object doesn't do much in the games, the only time where it really needs to go into detail is for Paper Mario (and maybe SMRPG for stats and such). Whatever the case is, I'm for it. This conversation has not been brought up in a long time, so I am revisiting it. Is the general consensus still that this should be moved to 'Frying Pan (weapon)'? I would support this move because it would be changing a conjectural name to an official one. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 07:38, April 10, 2021 (EDT)
I agree with moving the article (the Paper Mario one can maybe be "Frying Pan (item)"), though in addition to the Hammer Bros. pans, there's also Mr. Game & Watch's frying pan. Should that be mentioned too? LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:45, March 30, 2022 (EDT)

no quorum 1-1-0
See the above discussion. Although it was stated this change wouldn't need a proposal, I don't think a consensus was actually reached, so I am making one anyway. The official name for this item is 'Frying Pan' in Super Mario RPG (the Super Smash Bros. series seems to generically refer to it as just a frying pan in tips). Therefore, this page is using an unnecessary conjectural name for a subject that has an official one. However, there is another page using the name of 'Frying Pan', so we should decide which page should get an identifier.

Move this page to 'Frying Pan (weapon)'[edit]

  1. Hewer (talk) Per proposal and above discussion.

Move this page to 'Frying Pan' and move the page currently called Frying Pan to 'Frying Pan (Paper Mario)'[edit]

  1. Hewer (talk) Second choice.

Do nothing[edit]

Comments[edit]

Do they really need to be split at all? A frying pan is a frying pan, I don't see why the ones used by Peach need a separate article. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 18:00, May 14, 2021 (EDT)

I think it's because the other Frying Pan is a very specific item with specific information about it, and covering it on the same page as the one Peach hits others with would probably get messy. It's kind of like how we split articles like Luigi's Mansion and Bowser's Castle because some are courts from sports games or Mario Kart tracks and others are the last area in mainline Mario games, even though they're the same basic concept. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 18:05, May 14, 2021 (EDT)

Why isn't there an option to give both identifiers? Dark BonesSig.png 15:48, May 20, 2021 (EDT)

I didn't think there was any point to giving both identifiers, but I can add that option if you like. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 17:21, May 20, 2021 (EDT)
Don't know if you can still do that, given rule 14. Dark BonesSig.png 17:51, May 20, 2021 (EDT)

merge 2-14-0
All right, let's try this again. It's kind of silly that this article has to be a conjectural title when we have a perfectly valid name (we even have names in other languages) - it's just usually associated with a particular character (Peach). But why is the main "Frying Pan" article Tayce T.'s frying pan? This is a minor event item for a one-off character, and is certainly a less notable subject. I don't think the "weapon" identifier works since that's not always the case. So, I have two options here. #1: simply make this the main "Frying Pan" article and add a "Paper Mario" identifier to the other article, which would resolve the conjecture tag. Or #2: merge the frying pans and make this article about both the frying pan associated with Peach and frying pans in general.

Option 1: rename Peach's frying pan and add an identifier to the Paper Mario item[edit]

  1. Hewer (talk) Frinally, per proposal.
  2. LinkTheLefty (talk) Frynally.

Option 2: merge frying pans[edit]

  1. LinkTheLefty (talk) Let's see how this pans out.
  2. Blinker (talk) Per proposal. (although, if the page is no longer about Peach's frying pan specifically, then that Chef section...)
  3. Mario (talk) There is nothing particularly special about the item or the weapon. It's just a frying pan with multiple functions, like banana. Just have an article about frying pans.
  4. MegaBowser64 (talk) Frying Pan (per all)
  5. Tails777 (talk) Throw them all into one article, cook it up and serve it to the viewers! Per proposal.
  6. Sparks (talk) Per all.
  7. Camwoodstock (talk) Per all--It's about as silly as having the Hammer article be about the Hammers wielded by Hammer Bros. and then literally every time a character uses a Hammer, we make articles like Mario's hammer (conjectural name).
  8. BMfan08 (talk) This is something I do not say lightly – but I believe the proposer here is cooking. Per all.
  9. Okapii (talk) Per all but especially Camwoodstock, they were cooking with that hammer comparison
  10. Mushroom Head (talk) Per all. FRY THE FRYING PAN
  11. FanOfRosalina2007 (talk) Per all. If Toad's frying pan in The Super Mario Bros. Movie doesn't get a mention, then I will be VERY upset.
  12. JanMisali (talk) Per all.
  13. Arend (talk) Per all; embarrassingly, the only reason it took me so long is to think of a more unique pun, but i guess I didn't have the skill to do et.
  14. Nintendo101 (talk) Per all.

Option 3: do nothing (again)[edit]
