Characters?

Does this game also contain the characters like Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Mr. Game & Watch and such, does one play as a Mii, or isn't that confirmed at all? ~ Qyzxf (talk)

Nothing has been fully confirmed, however the minigames which have been made public do not feature any of the characters, only Miis. Elements from the series background is what is borrowed, not the actual characters themselves. JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 12:15, 24 August 2012 (EDT)

Chase Mii and Battle Mii

I think the 2 Demos shown at E3 2011, Chase Mii (Mario themed) and Battle Mii (Metroid themed) might be the games to the currently unannounced Mario and Metroid games. --MarioMaster2011 (talk) 23:14, 24 July 2012 (EDT)

It might be but this is guess work unfortunately. No official sources have claimed this so we cannot add it. However, if you do know of a source proving this, feel free to share it with us. JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 12:16, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
Both of those are indeed gonna be in the game, under the titles Mario Chase and Metroid Blast!! DK Fan

Release Date

IGN have put up a release date for this game. Even though most probably a fake, IGN is an official source (kinda) so what are your views about this. Here's the link to where this is claimed: [1] Look at the right of the page where the box art is present. JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 12:15, 24 August 2012 (EDT)

Is this everything?

I'm really surprised that Pokémon and Star Fox aren't in here. Do we have confirmation if this are all the minigames? ~ Qyzxf (talk)

Yes. Koopa Troopa from Super Paper Mario. MegaKoopa Talk 15:39, 14 September 2012 (EDT)

I meant more, like, if we had, where is it confirmed? :/ ~ Qyzxf (talk)
I don't know but i think these are all the minigames, and there's also an image showing the icons representing all the minigames. Booemblem.pngDohIMissedBooemblem.png

Octopus Dance

Since we have a fair amount of detail regarding Game & Watch, including Octopus, why don't we go ahead and create the article for Octopus Dance as well. The only other NIWA wiki to create would be Nwiki but we all know how chillaxed they are about making necessary articles. JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 05:19, 30 September 2012 (EDT)

Octopus dance does not qualify for an article since it is not related to the mario version of Octopus instead it is related to the original game & watch version which isn't related to mario. Marshal Dan Troop (talk)

Articles for all atractions

Should we create articles for all atractions, including those who aren't Mario-related? I mean, if we have articles for non-Mario locations (such as Smash Bros. stages, like Hanenbow) why we couldn't heve articles for all atractions?

BYLLANT Ak-Un.png

I would say no. Unlike Smash Bros., where Mario characters fight on those stages and face those characters, the rest of the attractions in Nintendo Land don't interact with the Mario elements in any way, at least not that I'm aware of. -- 1337star (Mailbox SP) 01:11, 14 November 2012 (EST)
I think we should have articles for all of the attractions. We can't just leave a game only half-covered.
'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 00:15, 17 November 2012 (EST)
Sorry but I'm in agreement with 1337star. No Mario elements interact with the other attractions. Plus we've got external links for all the other minigames (apart from Metroid Blast) so we haven't left anything amiss. You might then bring up the argument as to why Octopus Dance was created but then you have to realize that we already have a lot of info about Octopus and Game & Watch so we might as well make it. JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 00:58, 17 November 2012 (EST)
This game falls in line with Captain Rainbow so the mario elements should get articles but nothing else will. Marshal Dan Troop (talk)

If it is the Octopus that relates to the Mario series, then tell me why we won't fully cover Game & Watch Collection 2.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 01:01, 17 November 2012 (EST)

Because it's not related to Mario in that context because no mario characters appear. Marshal Dan Troop (talk)

Understood. Then are we going to allow the article Octopus Dance? Personally I think we should cover all attractions. MarioWiki:Coverage says that we cover all information in a crossover, "However, we can only cover information in the crossover and cannot add additional content from the other previously established franchises."; that won't be a problem, as we would only cover the attractions.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 01:10, 17 November 2012 (EST)

No we should not cover octopus because it is not related to mario much like how we don't have articles on everything from Captain Rainbow nor do we cover anything from the Mario basketball game for the gamecube or the skiing game for the gamecube. Marshal Dan Troop (talk)
YoshiKing make a TPP about this now that more people have entered the argument. JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 01:15, 17 November 2012 (EST)

Create articles for non-Mario attractions

move to MarioWiki:Proposals
For the sake of resolving the discussion above, I'm reaching a decision through a TPP. It has been discussed that we shouldn't create articles for the Minigames in Nintendo Land that don't relate to the Mario series. But our coverage policy says that we cover all information in a crossover that mixes Mario with another series, but it is limited to the information from the crossover and we can't talk about additional info from the other series. We currently cover only four of the twelve minigames, one of them not being directly related to Mario. I see this as illogical as we shouldn't leave a game half covered and rely on other NIWA sites for further info on the uncovered minigames (one of them isn't even covered by a NIWA site). And then we fully cover crossovers like the Super Smash Bros. series and the Mario & Sonic series. As discussed above, we don't fully cover Captain Rainbow but the policy says we can, so why not Nintendo Land?

Support

  1. YoshiKong (talk) Per my arguments above.
  2. JORDAN DEBONO (talk) I agree that the articles should be made, however not as one single page. We don't have a collective name for all the minigames so it won't really make sense. Also the external hyperlinks to the other NIWA wiki articles should still remain.

Well I'm totally undecided. I like it when we create new articles but then again we have all the links we need to other NIWA wikis. They have the articles so we don't need them ourselves. I need to see some other views before I make a decision. JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 02:14, 17 November 2012 (EST)

I was thinking of also alternatively proposing for a single page which covers all of the minigames, similar to the Subspace Army article with links to external sites for further info.
'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 02:44, 17 November 2012 (EST)

I think this should count as a full crossover, like SSB, Itadaki Street DS or Mario Hoops 3-on-3, and so, all the minigames should get pages, including the stuff that's not directly part of the Mario-derived content in the game. However, I don't think a TPP is appropriate for a major coverage decision, so this should be moved to MarioWiki:Proposals instead. - Walkazo 12:42, 17 November 2012 (EST)

Minigame short decriptions

Should the descriptions for the minigames be changed to the ones found in the booklet of Nintendo Land. They're as concise as the present ones so they won't look out of place and after all they're official. I can change them if you like. What d'you think ?? JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 16:39, 1 December 2012 (EST)

Maybes long as they are complete and they highlight all the basics about the game, including characters involved and what the aim of the game is. But it should be noted that we currently include info on references, like for example on the Octopus Dance minigame, first thing we say that it is based on the Game & Watch game Octopus. And on Luigi's Ghost Mansion, we say that it is a reference to the Luigi's Mansion games. I think such info should be kept on the article. Does the manual have this stuff?
'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 19:33, 1 December 2012 (EST)
No it doesn't go into detail like that. The manual talks about the minigames from a tourist attraction point of view, as if it is a real theme park. Ok then doesn't matter; thanks for replying. JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 11:58, 3 December 2012 (EST)

Create List of Nintendo Land staff article

create article 4-1
(I'm currently working on it here.) The reason I am setting up this proposal is because Nintendo Land is a generic Nintendo game, and not one specific to the Mario series, and I want to see what people think of this.

Support

  1. Mariotime11 (talk) Per my proposal.
  2. Walkazo (talk) - Staff pages are just extensions of the main article (in fact, they used to be subpages), so it's not the same as creating completely separate articles for the in-game subjects from a partial-coverage game. We already have a gallery for the page; a staff page is no different.
  3. King Pikante (talk) Per all.
  4. BabyLuigiOnFire (talk) Per all

Oppose

  1. NSY (talk) If we are not doing full coverage of this, then no.

This doesn't warrant a proposal. The Super Smash Bros. series all have staff articles of their own. Besides, why not include Nintendo Land staff anyway? BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C)

We fully cover SSB games because the characters interact with each other. They don't in Nintendo Land.
Banon (talk · edits) 17:50, 31 March 2013 (EDT)
I still don't see why not BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 23:09, 2 April 2013 (EDT)
I don't have an opinion about this proposal, I was just giving you the official reason :)
Banon (talk · edits) 16:26, 4 April 2013 (EDT)

Full coverage?

Why doesn't Nintendo Land have full coverage? I feel it's just as much of a crossover as other games like SSB or Mario & Sonic. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 10:16, 13 February 2015 (EST)

Monita article

I feel like someone should write an article about Monita; she is after all, the host of the game and appears in many of its attractions to offer tutorials. If nobody else is willing to do it, let me know; I can do it. --WigglyWiggler (talk) 17:50, May 11, 2019 (EDT)
