Means that a lot of people will come visit it, so it could be subject to bad edits from "leakers" and people who edit in false info. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 17:23, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

"Yellow Toad is known simply as Toad in this game"

I've tried to remove this info once before, but it was reverted presumably because I wasn't clear enough in my edit summary. I didn't want to start an edit war, so I posted here instead. This particular info should be removed. Both Toads have always been known as "Toad" in-game, in the manuals, and on the nintendo.com game descriptions. Yellow Toad was never known as "Yellow Toad" in the original NSMBU, and even if some Prima guide called him "Yellow Toad", the information is still irrelevant as in-game he is simply known as Toad. This is not a difference from the original game, and as the original NSMBU also called him "Toad", this info should be removed. -YFJ (talk · edits) 22:08, 3 October 2018 (EDT)

Never mind, I just removed the info from the "differences" section, as it's completely irrelevant there. I'll leave it in the main intro paragraph for now, but I'll remove that as well if the final version never calls him by name (much like the Wii U version). -YFJ (talk · edits) 15:44, 19 October 2018 (EDT)
Regarding your first post, he was called that in the NSMBW manual. But I digress. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:47, 19 October 2018 (EDT)
I did learn that shortly after posting the first post here, but even though it's an official name it's never used in-game in either NSMBW or NSMBU. It's not even used in the NSMBU manual. I saw that as enough reason to remove the info from the Differences section. As much as I'd like to remove it from the other place as well, that's just going to spiral into an edit war, so I decided to hold off on doing that until the port is released. -YFJ (talk · edits) 15:53, 19 October 2018 (EDT)
Well it's the only name we have for him, since the "Ala-Gold" thing is almost definitely a hoax, since its origins seem to be the infamous Star War: The Third Gathers: Backstroke of the West, a poorly-done Hong Kong subtitling of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, where Anakin was mistranslated as "Allah Gold" (from Chinese ana jin). Anyways, I doubt that that would be used by the Japanese developers on purpose or by accident, it just can't have been. Maybe an early localizer nickname, but I don't really think that counts for anything any more than the "badass princess" thing for Mario + Rabbids. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:22, 19 October 2018 (EDT)
I understand. It doesn't count as an in-game difference though, and just because they called him "Toad" in the Direct does not mean that the actual product will call him "Toad". Outside of the NSMBW manual, he has always been called "Toad", not "Yellow Toad". Saying that he's now known simply as Toad just seems unnecessary, and we don't even know that for certain. -YFJ (talk · edits) 02:00, 21 October 2018 (EDT)

New Super Mario Bros. subseries page

Since the New Super Mario Bros. subseries has always been a constant series within the Super Mario series, is it worth giving the subseries its own page?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Prpro=03 (talk).

All necessary information is covered on Super Mario (series). We don't need any subseries pages here because the main Super Mario series page handles it just fine. Kinda like how we don't have series pages for Super Mario Bros. Also, remember to sign your comments with ~~~~. -YFJ (talk · edits) 20:55, 4 October 2018 (EDT)
We do, however, have a page for the "Super Mario Land" series, and given Yoshi's New Island is certainly of the same refrain, I'd consider it to be a part of this "subseries" as well. (It uses models and animations out the wazoo from NSMB2.) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:01, 4 October 2018 (EDT)

boost mode isn't actually incompatible with nintendo switch controls

the switch has touchscreen functionalityPikachu210 (talk) 19:37, 25 December 2018 (EST)

Mario was shown in a Luigi U level in pre-release footage, if I remember correctly.

Should this go in a new Trivia section? 99.203.1.87 22:49, 1 January 2019 (EST) (the preceding comment was made by a logged-off aykrivwassup.)

Wait until the game releases, if you can. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 22:54, 1 January 2019 (EST)

Important changes needed!

At Gameplay:

At "The jump controls are now shared with the mid-air spin, performed by pressing B Button or A Button in mid-air, consistent to a similar control scheme in Super Mario Run, having jump and mid-air spin mapped to a touch input." -Can someone please add that you can still twirl in mid-air by using L and R, because otherwise.

At "In the pause menu during levels, buttons on the controller can be remapped." -This is fake, also, why did anyone believe the "source" even though it lied about 200 seconds in Luigi U (didn't specify that this is character specific) and that you can play as Mario in Luigi U, also, the source is unofficial (if it can be called as a source, this is a fan-post, not a source; the post listed other sources, which are also fake predictions, posted even earlier), and posted before the release of the game. I don't really think the editors played this game, it would be nice that not only old sources would be trusted.

This page lists the differences between Deluxe and the originals, but I suppose there's no harm in saying players can still use the triggers.
I haven't played the game, but I've seen some videos. Deluxe is a collection of both Wii U titles, so it makes sense that Mario can be played in Luigi levels. I'll see if someone else can add to this, though. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:49, March 16, 2020 (EDT)
I have the game. All points presented are valid; I'll go ahead and change 'em. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 11:54, March 16, 2020 (EDT)

NSMBU or NSMBUDX?

  • "In New Super Mario Bros. U, the red Toad Houses with the shuffle mini-games have some items changed. Several Super Stars have been replaced by Super Crowns, while in New Super Luigi U, the 1-Up Mushrooms are now 3-Up Moons."
  • "In New Super Mario Bros. U, the stars on the player's profile will remain shiny, even if the player activated the Super Guide before."

New Super Mario Bros. U or New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe? If it is New Super Mario Bros. U, please add something like "but remove in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe". --58.176.43.120 03:36, June 1, 2022 (EDT)
