Okay, should this article be a redirect to Luigi, or the Metal Luigi page itself? Lets let someone tell us. Paper Jorge ( Need to tell me something? Go to my talk page.·Contributions·) 15:33, 8 October 2006 (EDT)

This article is legit, as it is a specific charater. If this was Metal Pikachu page, it would have no purpose as it would merely reiterate info about the Metal Box. -- Son of Suns
Yes, and I'm sure you'll have no problem showing me a single instance where anyone states or implies that Luigi and Metal Luigi are different beings. - A Link to the Past 20:23, 8 October 2006 (EDT)
This and all other character related forms and articles are considered separate articles. For example, if we did add them all to Mario, wouldn't it be confusing and cluttered? Repeat your actions again and you will be blocked.-SpikeFile:Spike sheild badge.PNG
So basically you're saying that it is against guidelines for people to have an opinion that you dislike. WHY should it be a separate article? You would prefer that the Mario article be extremely short and have thousands of articles about every single form he has ever had over one article that is detailed? Under your logic, the Mario article on Wikipedia should be cluttered and confusing, but it is well-written and concise. - A Link to the Past 00:48, 9 October 2006 (EDT)
First, Metal Luigi is the same as Luigi, but it is a form that is stressed as a distinct representation of Luigi. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Metal Luigi is not the result of Luigi getting the metal ability; Metal Luigi appears as a unique mini-boss. Second, the Mario article would become way too long if every single form of him was written about in depth in his page. For instance, information about how to transform into Frog Mario, Frog Mario's abilities, areas where Frog Mario is especially useful, along with any other trivia and other info, is not really relevant to Mario at all, only Frog Mario. Remember, this is the Super Mario Wiki. Everything about Mario's numerous forms do not need to be included in one article. In Wikipedia, an encyclopeida about everything, all the forms would be trivial and unneccesary. In the Super Mario Wiki, each form of Mario is important and should be recognized. The same applies to other focused wikis. Wookiepedia, the Star Wars wiki, has an article for IG-88, IG-88A, IG-88B, IG-88C, and IG-88D. These IG-88 robots are all the same, just different forms of the same character. Wikipedia, on the other hand, just has an article for IG-88, as articles for all four copies would be trivial in a general knowledge wiki. This is not Wikipedia. This is a focused wiki examining every aspect of the Marioverse. If you prefer Wikipedia's standards, please feel inclined to contribute there. -- Son of Suns
So you are saying that the Mario article on Wikipedia is too long? Metal Luigi is never stressed as being a distinct representation. He is a Mini-Boss, but is Bowser a different representation from Bowser because he's a boss? - A Link to the Past 15:25, 9 October 2006 (EDT)
No. The Mario article on Wikipedia is a good size, if not a great size. To its credit, the Wikipedia Mario article can discriminate between what information is important and what information is unnecessary. Helpful tips, characteristics, and trivia about Frog Mario would not be important in the general knowledge encyclopedia that is Wikipedia. The Mario Wikipedia article sums up Frog Mario by saying: "Various other Mario power-ups have included the Frog Mario frog suit, granting Mario improved jumping and swimming abilities". The article doesn't need to say anymore. However, there is a lot more info about Frog Mario that has simply been cut out. This info is important to the Super Mario Wiki, as we are supposed to examine things in more depth than is allowed by Wikipedia. If we were to do this in one article, the Mario page would become way too long. That's why, at the Super Mario Wiki, we split up these different forms, which do invite their own articles, into seperate pages. We can go in-depth. That's the strength of Super Mario Wiki. The strength of Wikipedia is general knowledge without too many minor details cluttering up the article. At the Super Mario Wiki, all we have are the minor details. Secondly, what I meant about Metal Luigi being a distinct form is that the developers of Super Smash Bros. could have just made the mini-boss fight against Mario and Luigi. However, they specifically chose to use Metal Mario and Metal Luigi, granting them their unique place in the Marioverse. Giga Bowser could have just been Bowser fought a second time. Again, the developers wanted a distinct form of Bowser to be fought. Also, the developers took the time to name these forms. Giga Bowser is not simply called Bowser but having a different appearance. This form is specifically named Giga Bowser. Characters fight Metal Mario and Metal Luigi, not Mario and Luigi who happen to be metallic for some reason. Regardless, these specifically named forms are important to the Super Mario Wiki. So important they warrant their own articles. Also, these various forms should be included in their main articles (Frog Mario should be mentioned in the Mario article). However, this mention should be to the point, like in the Wikipedia article. Then, if someone wants to pursue more information about a certain form, they can click on a link to take them to that article. -- Son of Suns

If anyone sees this down here :) should we merge this? Max2

Merge Metal Luigi into Metal Mario (character)

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

no quorum 2-2
We merged Metal Wario, why can't we also merge Metal Luigi?? Besides, Metal Luigi is just a boss that appeared alongside Metal Mario. There is no particular difference between them. They just team up against Mario when you unlock Luigi. It even says so in the Metal Mario (character) article. It is useless to have this article.

Merge

  1. Red Shell 68066vr (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Zero777 (talk) I am Zero! I think we should merge it, plus every other Mario bros. form had the label that it could also refer to Luigi's form so I support. Zero signing out.

Don't Merge

  1. Walkazo (talk) - Metal Luigi is a separate character from Metal Mario, whereas Metal Wario was only a form and was merged into the generic metal form page, which, like all the other form pages (from series other than Wario Land), defaults to Mario's metal form. The stuff concerning Luigi's metal form does not belong on this page and has been merged like Metal Wario, but the info concerning the character should stay separate.
  2. Reversinator (talk) Per Walkazo.

@Zero: Metal Luigi is a CHARACTER, not a FORM. Reversinator (talk)

Merge this article into Metal Mario (character)

Okay, I know this proposal was already created above me, but it ended with no decision and I don't think a rule is intact about recreating NO QUORUM proposals. So I assumed it was allowed. So yea, this article is incredibly small for a non-stub, and as stated above, Metal Luigi does not have any special characteristics to seperate him from Metal Mario. While he is his own character, he barely is, and we have an article that refers to Metal Mario in about half of the sentences. So, I think this article would be better off in a section of the Metal Mario page, than on its own.

Merge into Metal Mario (character)

  1. Koopa K (talk) Per this proposal and the proposal above this one.
  2. Coooool123 (talk) Per Koopa K.

Do not merge

  1. Raven Effect (talk) Metal Luigi is not the same as Metal Mario he is a separate character and a boss. he is also different from other examples like Ashley and Red because you have to actually accomplish something in order to fight him (you have to have Luigi unlocked) other wise you just fight Metal Mario. Also I'd like to point out that Metal Luigi is in fact different from Metal Mario because Metal Mario uses all of Mario's moves while Metal Luigi uses all of Luigi's moves.
  2. Tails777 (talk) Per Raven Effect.
  3. Prince Ludwig (talk) Per Raven Effect. Metal Luigi is a seperate character from Metal Mario, plus he's a character, not the same. We only do that with alternate forms.
  4. MeritC (talk) Per all, especially Raven Effect. And besides, Metal Luigi is a WAY different case than Metal Mario. Keep it split.
  5. Technickal (talk) Per Raven, though his article does need some improvement.
  6. New Super Yoshi (talk) Per Shoey.
  7. Electrical Bowser jr. (talk) Per everyone.
  8. JORDAN DEBONO (talk) Per all.
  9. Walkazo (talk) - Per all, and per my vote in the old TPP too.
  10. Mario4Ever (talk) Per all.
  11. BoygeyMario (talk) Per all.
  12. MarioMaster2011 (talk) Per All, especially Raven Effect.

Comments

@opposers True, but this article is almost a stub. Koopa K (talk)

So we don't merge articles because they are short. Raven Effect (talk)
I know, but it seems more like a section than an article. Koopa K (talk)

Well, maybe you should have at least improve the article. Simple as that. If you know about that, then Metal Luigi doesn't have to be merged with his older brother. Prince Ludwig (talk)

I would but I don't have Melee. Koopa K (talk)

...You can watch the gameplay/walkthrough on YouTube or Gametrailers. Remember, if users would want to merge a character, they should at least know about what's the article is about and reveal the true reason why it should be merged or deleted. But that's just me--my opinion, but please remember that.--Prince Ludwig (talk) 19:59, 23 August 2012 (EDT)

I know what the article is about, I've read it. Koopa K (talk)

Not entirely if you didn't watch or play... Prince Ludwig (talk)

I watched the Metal Bros. fight on YouTube. Koopa K (talk)

Perfect. Prince Ludwig (talk)

Well...

Technically, Metal Luigi does appear in Brawl, but so does Metal Pit, Metal Olimar, Metal Sonic, and Metal whoever shows up during the later stages, really, so it doesn't really deserve to be mentioned here. Just thought I'd point that out. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

It's more of a metal character stage than Metal Mario and Metal Luigi fighting you. I'll remove it.
