Released dateEdit

Hi, There in there a exact Released date ? (Or you have to wait E3 2015 ?) --Captain Yoshi   11:39, 5 June 2015 (EDT)

Dude, the game was just confirmed 6 days ago. I think it will be like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and the official date will come later. Captain Toad (his mail box) Getting my own game soon! 19:59, 5 June 2015 (EDT)
Ah ! Ok ! Thanks ! --Captain Yoshi   10:01, 6 June 2015 (EDT)

New stuffEdit

This might be interesting to look at... Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 20:43, 7 June 2015 (EDT) I'm not sure about writing that Rosalina is in there as I cannot see her.Marioguy (talk) 22:59, 2 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy

I found Amy!!! I will add her. Marioguy (talk) 08:44, 3 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy Should I add her to the 3ds version of the game? Marioguy (talk) 09:25, 3 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy

I found Amy from zooming in. Marioguy (talk) 13:18, 3 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy

If you're going to claim that Amy is playable, then post a reference. You have not posted a single piece of evidence proving she is even in the game. Everything you try is clearly a "red link" which is unacceptable. Crash-Bash (talk) 03:37, 4 July 2015 (EDT)

I don't know how to upload pictures. Marioguy (talk) 09:33, 4 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy

In the side bar under tools.   King Koopa (talk)   09:59, 4 July 2015 (EDT)

I tried didn't go well but I know the picture it it is in the top of this section the 2nd screenshot in the link. Marioguy (talk) 10:11, 4 July 2015 (EDT) Marioguy

I don't see her at all. Crash-Bash (talk) 01:53, 5 July 2015 (EDT)
There is a pink speck (Amy) at what I think is the starting line. Marioguy (talk) 08:13, 5

July 2015 (EDT) Marioguy

I don't see any pink speck near any starting line, and the one thing I do see that looks vaguely pink, there's no way of telling if it's Amy or not. Crash-Bash (talk) 14:05, 5 July 2015 (EDT)

SticksEdit

If you watch the e3 trailer and stop at 0:48, you can see Sticks from Sonic Boom playing archery. Not sure if she is playable, but it should be known she is in the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS7umYt9krg--Poponana2 (talk) 14:09, 16 June 2015 (EDT)

Good catch!   Ray Trace(T|C) 14:11, 16 June 2015 (EDT)
Yes, but that's clearly the 3DS version, we have no proof if she's in the Wii U version or not. Crash-Bash (talk) 12:59, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

Rosalina?Edit

I have noticed a website said Nintendo leaked 5 photos but only 3 can be seen now I that was deleted has Rosalina in synchronized swimming. Marioguy (talk) 16:00, 3 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy

As long as someone can cough up the photo evidence, she's good as confirmed. But until then, it's not for sure. MarioComix (talk) 16:59, 3 July 2015 (EDT)

Ok its just that she was there in the list and then a second later she disappeared. Marioguy (talk) 17:25, 3 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy

Wait should she be in unknown? Marioguy (talk) 17:26, 3 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy

No because she hasn't actually been fully seen yet. Sticks has, but whether or not she's playable isn't known at the moment.   Tails777 Talk to me!

Ok! Thanks! Marioguy (talk) 09:21, 4 July 2015 (EDT)Marioguy

Release date leaked?Edit

In the games' pages for Nintendo Spain, both versions of Wii U and 3DS will be released in physical format in 2016, but the Wii U digital version will be launched August 9, 2016 according to the website, but I think it's incomprehensible because the games in Mario & Sonic series tend to release before the Olympics Games take place. What do you think?

Arcade versionEdit

Sega announced an edition of the game and I was wondering where this info would go on this wiki since this article only covers the Wii U version. Luigifan95 (talk) 05:00, 18 July 2015 (EDT)

Perhaps its own section right before "references to other games" (in this case after "events")?   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:27, 18 July 2015 (EDT)
Where does it announce that? The link clearly leads to talking about a different game altogether. Crash-Bash (talk) 14:23, 20 July 2015 (EDT)
Is nobody actually going to post an actual link to this arcade edition? Crash-Bash (talk) 01:59, 23 July 2015 (EDT)

Legitimate Update - Release MonthEdit

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2015/06/01/nintendo-confirms-3ds-chibi-robo-doctor-mario-bravely-second-more-for-north-america.aspx?

Apparantly, this has been known since June. CrashBash (talk) 16:25, 9 October 2015 (EDT)

August 2016? And we haven't placed this information since June? Geez, well, I'm both surprised it took us this long to figure that out, but not surprised because we're always a little slow on Mario & Sonic coverage.   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:33, 9 October 2015 (EDT)

You want proof on Rosalina?Edit

You got proof. Aidanzapunk (talk) 23:17, 12 November 2015 (EST)

Very nice, now notice that you're posting a trailer from the 3DS version on the page for the Wii U version. Yes, I understand the fact that she's in the 3DS version all but confirms she's in the Wii U version because, well, consistency, but we still technically can't say for certain. CrashBash (talk) 02:25, 13 November 2015 (EST)

VectorEdit

Zazz (Sonic Lost World)Edit

Zazz from Sonic Lost World can be seen playing table tennis against Yoshi 20 seconds into this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APV7ri3scLI&feature=youtu.be

DaisyisBae (talk) 19:08, 6 December 2015 (EST)

We are clear he's in the game and he may be playable, given the fact that Ludwig can be seen playing table tennis in the 3DS version. So now that I think about it, can we safely say he'll be playable? I mean we haven't really seen anything other than trailers so what's to say that Ludwig or Wendy are even playable?   Tails777 Talk to me!

About Ludwig Von Koopa, he had an icon Zazz has no flag, icon nothing so we can't really say much about Zazz and possibly Wendy O. Koopa.

At this stage, it's likely, but not confirmed. I think practically everyone else has been specifically confirmed. CrashBash (talk) 14:42, 7 December 2015 (EST)

Whos Flag is this? to me it looks like Zazz's but im not 100% sure Doctor Marc (talk)

Characters Exclusive to Certain EventsEdit

I know in past installments for the 3DS that certain characters are exclusive to certain events, but has this historically been the same for the Wii U version? If it has been or if it has been confirmed that this is the case, should that be added to the article?. User:FireFlower

No. The 3DS version of London had the characters tied to certain events, but the Wii version didn't have that restriction.--A Pimp Named Slickback 19:49, 29 December 2015 (EST)
Thanks for the clarification. Will the same happen for this game?User:FireFlower
We don't know for certain yet. DK Fan
From what little we've seen, it doesn't look like the Wii U release has exclusive characters, but it's a bit hard to say for certain. CrashBash (talk) 11:21, 30 December 2015 (EST)

A little skeptical.Edit

Can we really use the 3DS character line-up to attribute to the Wii U version? Yes, we know at the very least that Nabbit, Diddy Kong, Jet, Rouge and Zazz are also in the Wii U version, but that's really all we know. CrashBash (talk) 11:20, 30 December 2015 (EST)

That is a good point, but considering there are 40 characters in the 3DS version, I can't imagine that there would be less in the Wii U installment. User:FireFlower

BirdoEdit

According to the article, Birdo has been confirmed for the game; however, I have not found a single picture or video with her doing a particular sport. Perhaps this was mixed with the fact that Red Birdos will be appearing as support characters. Either way, is there actual proof that states that the central Birdo character will be making an appearance representing Team Mario. User:FireFlower

In reality, Birdo is in the 3DS version, nothing is known about the Wii U version, not even if it is still in development. Regarding the 3DS version, the official Japanese site says that Birdo will be involved in archery.--Mister Wu (talk) 04:54, 3 January 2016 (EST)
Okay so since Birdo, or any other character who this concerns, hasn't been seen in the Wii U version, shouldn't it be removed or at least stated in the articles that she and the other unknown characters play a part in the 3DS version.
Who decided to move Birdo to supporting like an idiot? She was seen right at the end of the most recent trailer playing with the others. Just because she wasn't as present as the others doesn't mean she isn't fully playable. She most likely just has to be unlocked. I think we should not jump to conclusions until more info is released, that or until the game itself shows otherwise (this applies to all characters I feel).--0Ghost0 (talk) 21:08, 5 March 2016 (EST)
I moved Birdo in the supporting characters for this reason: in the new trailer she is shown as a goalie, and the goalies in the soccer game are suppporting characters, as you can see in the case of the Red Birdo in the Nintendo Direct 2015 video.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:14, 5 March 2016 (EST)
Well, with a new game comes changes, maybe you can assign a main character to be a goalie now. But I understand your reasoning, but still feel we should wait and see.--0Ghost0 (talk) 21:33, 5 March 2016 (EST)
If you want my opinion, I too think that Birdo will be a playable character because she is one in the 3DS version. But this is the Wii U version and we have limited information on it for now, since Red Birdo in the 2015 video is clearly a supporting character I am going the safe route for now and just assume that goalies are still supporting characters like in that video.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:38, 5 March 2016 (EST)
Was it really neccessary to start that comment by calling people idiots? You do realise that automatically renders your entire argument invalid, right? But seriously, we are avoiding jumping to conclusions, which is why she is in the supporting characters list for the moment. Yes, she was playable in the 3DS version, but it's clear from the get-go that the roster between the two versions is different (Boom Boom and Toad are not 3DS characters), so we need to be a little cautious. CrashBash (talk) 02:02, 6 March 2016 (EST)
All of you need to watch the video again. Boom Boom, who is a supporting character, was standing with the entire playable cast. Furthermore, can't any character intercept the ball like Birdo did and not be a goalie? Also, the character count for Team Mario is only 18, which is inconsistent with Team Sonic's number. Lastly, is there any footage showing Toad as a playable character? User:FireFlower
I think you're misunderstanding the criterion why Toad and Boom Boom are among the playable characters. Birdo, Red Birdo and Egg Pawns aren't among the characters greeting the public in the introductory night scene. This, along with the other characters greeting (who are clearly playable characters) and other details (such as the pedestals they are on) suggests the characters who are greeting the public are the playable characters that SEGA wants us to know about. Toad and Boom Boom were among them. This is why they were inserted among the playable characters. Please keep in mind that Larry and Wendy didn't appear in any event as well (well, Larry didn't appear at all in other parts of the trailer!), yet they were inserted because they were among the characters greeting the public in this night scene.
The Boom Boom as playable character is different from the Boom Booms that will be supporting characters in the rugby game (and appear later in the trailer, along with the Egg Pawns), in the same way as Yoshi is different from the colored Yoshis that are supporting him in the soccer game of the 3DS version (although in the case of Boom Boom they all look the same, generating the confusion that we have now).--Mister Wu (talk) 21:05, 6 March 2016 (EST)
Maybe Birdo wasn't shown with the other playable characters because she's unlockable, Dry Bowser is confirmed and he wasn't shown with the others.PrincessDaisyForever 19:01 29 April 2016 (EST)

Wii U Release DateEdit

apparently the wii u version of this game is set for a 9th August 2016 release should it be added to the page?
http://gonintendo.com/stories/250110-eu-nintendo-sites-list-mario-sonic-at-the-rio-2016-olympic-game

Actually, the real release date is June 24th. --RodneytheMiiGuy 18:18, 3 March 2016 (EST)

Exclusive characters?Edit

Since we've now seen the intro for the Wii U version, it appears that there are indeed characters that are exclusive to each version. Obviously, I don't want to jump to too many assumptions, but for now I've deleted the characters who do not feature in the trailer. CrashBash (talk) 12:12, 4 March 2016 (EST)

It's possible that SEGA will reveal other characters, but I think it's better anyway to have only information based on the trailers for the Wii U version.--Mister Wu (talk) 15:41, 4 March 2016 (EST)

Since Dry Bowsers flag was recently spotted in the trailer [1] doesn't that mean other characters like Omega, Eggman Nega, Cream, Roy, Ludwig and Dry Bones are still in?

I'd say the least assumptions we make, the better it is. Toad and Boom Boom are in this version but not in the 3DS version. The arcade version has even less characters. I think it's better not to use material from other versions. After all, in the case of the 3DS version the full roster was revealed before release, so being cautious shouldn't be detrimental to people interested in this version.--Mister Wu (talk) 17:10, 6 March 2016 (EST)

Koopa TroopaEdit

You know the Koopa Troopa is playable near the Mario's Cap

SonicRetroEdit

Look, just to make this perfectly clear. My issue with SonicRetro being mentioned here is not that it "isn't a wiki" (since apparantly it is). The reason I am removing it is because the link really doesn't achieve anything in this particular case. I've seen the link, and it barely talks about the game at all. The article is extremely bare-bones. I don't know, but if I wanted to learn more about the game and I went to that link, I'd be very disappointed. The Sonic News Network gives a much better wiki page for the game.

If the SonicRetro page actually had some proper information on the game, I'd be fine with it being linked here. As it is, I see no reason to link to it when there is a far superior page to it on another wiki. I hope you guys at least understand my logic here. CrashBash (talk) 08:40, 10 April 2016 (EDT)

Listen, I understand your point of view but nonetheless that is something that you should discuss with the staff before just removing it. --Raltseye (talk) 08:52, 10 April 2016 (EDT)
No, in this case, it is something that you should discuss with the staff before just adding it. You were the one who introduced the link, knowing it wasn't a very good link, so, yeah. I've already explained my reasoning why it should be removed. Do you have a reason why it should be added? CrashBash (talk) 09:50, 10 April 2016 (EDT)
Okay how many times do I have to explain this to you? No I did NOT introduce that link. You see there was already a link prefix for that site and all I did was to make sure that that was used. And if you do not know what a link prefix is then I'll explain that to you right now. When I came here this site already linked to Sonic Retro used direct links such as [2] but it can easier be link by using link prefixes such as sonicretro you see so that when writing [[sonicretro:Knuckles the Echidna|Knuckles the Echidna]] it links to Knuckles the Echidna. Now I did once again NOT create that link prefix SOMEONE IN THE STAFF DID so if you have a problem with that go talk to them. The only ting I did was to make sure that it was consistently used because it was only on some pages and some pages missed them completely so I added them there. Once again if you have a problem with this go discuss this with the staff not me. --Raltseye (talk) 10:05, 10 April 2016 (EDT)
http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games_%28Wii_U%29&diff=1967902&oldid=1965962 You didn't introduce the link, huh? This edit clearly shows otherwise. What you have said is clearly not the issue here. I will ask you again, why did you add the link, knowing not only that the link gave very little information, but also knowing you could have linked to the Sonic News Network which has vastly superior information? CrashBash (talk) 10:11, 10 April 2016 (EDT)
I did clearly not introduce the link as it was already there (not on the actual page but the ability to do it, so I thought that should be done on all pages). You are the one who should argue with the staff for if we should not use that link if you want that. --Raltseye (talk) 10:18, 10 April 2016 (EDT)
Yes you did. Look, this is an edit from early March http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games_(Wii_U)&oldid=1958474 and as you can clearly see, there is no link to SonicRetro. http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games_(Wii_U)&oldid=1965962 This was the edit made before yours. Again, no link to SonicRetro. http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games_(Wii_U)&oldid=1967902 And this is your edit, that clearly adds the link to SonicRetro. To claim that you did not put the link in is pure denial on a level I simply can't understand. http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games_%28Wii_U%29&diff=1967902&oldid=1965962 This edit clearly shows you adding the link to the page. Why are you denying what is so blatantly obvious? CrashBash (talk) 10:27, 10 April 2016 (EDT)

Enough. Crash, Raltseye is correct, the link was introduced at staff level, he was simply making use of the wiki prefixes to A. Tidy up the articles and B. Make links between relevant search terms for topics we don't normally cover and a trusted information source, both of which are standard curating tasks. If you look at the edits you linked to, the wiki syntax involved in this process is clearly visible. If your issue is more with the fact that SonicRetro is the trusted site were using, then, as you've been told before, either bring it to a staff member or get a TPP going. These random removals and harassment of other editors will not be tolerated. -- Ghost Jam  15:05, 10 April 2016 (EDT)

Oh, for god sake, that is NOT the issue I have with SonicRetro being included and you KNOW it isn't. I don't know how I could make this any more clear. The issue I have is the fact that the link provides nothing. Why don't you guys actually LOOK at the link and see how much information it provides. Here's a clue...it doesn't provide ANYTHING.

http://info.sonicretro.org/Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games

LOOK at the frickin' link. Look at what information it provides on the game. Virtually NOTHING. It doesn't tell you anything, there's no character list, no event list and only ONE image. It is pointless.

http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games

Now look at THIS link. From the Sonic News Network. Look how much information is provided. This is a vastly superior link to SonicRetro, which again, tells you NOTHING. If I wanted to find more information about the game, I'd definitely want to check out SNN, rather than SR, because at least SNN actually tells you about the game.
I feel I have every right to remove the link to SonicRetro purely because the information provided is not even in the slightest bit adequate. The fact you guys think linking to a page that literally only has a small table and one small image is frankly, mind-boggling. And the fact you're threatening to block me for removing a "bad link" is also mind-boggling. You've let other people remove duff links before, let me remove it, or at the very least replace it with the far superior Sonic News Network. And besides, Raltseye STILL hasn't explained why he added the link, knowing it had so little information, in the first place. He just keeps denying it, even though the edit history proves otherwise. And don't say he's correct about his claim that he didn't add the link because this revision http://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games_%28Wii_U%29&diff=1967902&oldid=1965962 shows he clearly did. CrashBash (talk) 16:38, 10 April 2016 (EDT)

Generally speaking, MarioWiki has a "better something than nothing" way of doing things and pretty much all of our editors, senior or otherwise, work along this line. From my perspective, I walk in and see you blanket removing crap and screaming bloody murder, not switching in any of the supposedly better links you've talked about and not willing to leave it alone until it's been brought to open discussion. If you're not going to follow our standard procedures, it doesn't matter how right or wrong you are, you're going to get swatted down. And while we're at it, once this became an edit war, Raltseye should have brought it to the attention of staff instead of continuing.

Second issue, Raltseye did not add any links and the edit summaries you've provided prove that. He added a standard cross wiki syntax that provides wiki links based on already accepted link bases managed at staff level. Yes he added the syntax, but the link itself and the approval process to use other wikis did not come from him. It's also a moot point for point of this discussion, so I'm flat out telling you to stop harassing him about it.

Thirdly, my threat of a lock was to end the edit war, standard administrative practice. Do you have a link you think is better than the current SonicRetro one? Feel free to switch it in, but don't just leave it blank. -- Ghost Jam  22:37, 10 April 2016 (EDT)

OK, going through these one at a time as calmly as I can. First of all, I have already explained to you guys, several times, that the Sonic News Network provides much better information (I.E. it actually provides information) than SonicRetro. Second issue, "Yes he added the syntax"....guys, that's what I was talking about and you know it. He added the syntax, every other wiki calls that "adding the link". He was the one who added the link/syntax/whatever and the edit summaries I provided prove it. Please stop working around loopholes just to say I'm wrong. Every other wiki calls these "syntaxs" links, OK? Moreover, I feel it isn't a moot point, since he's the one who added the "syntax", knowing that the page was bad, so he should really be the one to explain why he added it in the first place. Thirdly, and I will say it again, http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games THIS is clearly superior. Follow the link...oh, sorry, SYNTAX...and you'll see. CrashBash (talk) 01:51, 11 April 2016 (EDT)

I have now switched in the link to SNN, as you asked, but RaltsEye is still insistent on including SonicRetro. I'm sorry, but I don't understand why. As I have already explained, the link to the SR page provides absolutely no information whatsoever outside a single (blank) table and an image. If the SR page actually had a good selection of information on it, like that of SNN and indeed this wiki, then I would be perfectly happy to have it linked here. However, as it stands, linking to such an empty page really doesn't achieve anything. I added the link to SNN as a replacement, not an addition. I hope this makes sense. CrashBash (talk) 11:11, 11 April 2016 (EDT)

Event exclusive charactersEdit

The official source is here. I will update the page.--Mister Wu (talk) 10:05, 4 May 2016 (EDT)
This isn't anything more than guesswork, but one of the screenshots shows what looks like the character selection screen for Beach Volleyball, and shows the 20 recurring characters plus Rouge listed as a "guest". If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say the 20 main characters are playable across all events and the new characters are exclusive. CrashBash (talk) 01:45, 6 May 2016 (EDT)
It's likely that this is true, as it's easier to add new characters only for certain events instead of all events; however, since 100m freestyle is no longer there while Wendy is effectively a new character, we don't know who will be playable in which.--Mister Wu (talk) 06:32, 6 May 2016 (EDT)
That's true, although there are some clues for a few of them. Although I suppose the best thing is to wait and see. CrashBash (talk) 16:20, 6 May 2016 (EDT)

Character select screenEdit

Hi guys i have a Picture of the Charater Select Screen if that helps with anything. It seems like all the original 20 are in every event but the newcomers are the exclusive characters Doctor Marc (talk)

I've seen it, it's laso worringly different from the one of Beach Volleyball (only one guest instead of possibly 6 in Beach Volleyball, which might make sense, as Beach Volleyball, Football and Rugby are main events with a Duel version), this is why I didn't jump to conclusions yet (although it's almost obvious at this point that the 20 original characters won't be restricted while the new ones will be).--Mister Wu (talk) 18:13, 7 May 2016 (EDT)

That character select screen from the beach volleyball to me it looks like its for the heroes showdown mode. Doctor Marc (talk)

I doubt it. Unless the second selector moves automatically, I don't think you are supposed to choose which one you will face in that mode. It looks more like a 1 player tournament screen. But in the end, since the CPU is tied to a team and there are captains, it could be. And to be clear, since only 7 new characters have been announced for Team Sonic, I suspect that Dry Bowser will again be just a boss for this mode.--Mister Wu (talk) 08:51, 8 May 2016 (EDT)
We now have two more videos here and here that show all 14 events and 3 duel events (but unfortunately, it is not specified what kind of swimming event will be featured) and show the same character selection screen in the "minor" events. I'm still wondering if there really is only one guest character in the events or if the "guest" button is just a tab that shows you what new characters are available for the event.--Mister Wu (talk) 09:35, 8 May 2016 (EDT)
In the end you were right, the volleyball one was the character selection screen for the Heroes Showdown mode. Sorry for doubting.--Mister Wu (talk) 12:10, 12 May 2016 (EDT)

Anybody know Mario-related Music Pieces were used in the game? --LTIan (talk) 13:41, 23 May 2016 (EDT)

The possibility of choosing what to hear during each event is confirmed at the beginning of this video, but we still don't know what tracks will be used.--Mister Wu (talk) 16:27, 23 May 2016 (EDT)

Official new box artEdit

The most recent North American box art is that: [3]. Also, the game received an E+10 rating finally. --77.228.198.87 22:36, 25 June 2016 (EDT)

Boom BoomEdit

The part about Boom Boom on the podium instead of Dry Bowser on Team Mario in the game's intro at the bottom of the page definitely seems noteworthy, but the part about him originally having been the Guest Character in the Javelin Throw event feels like it's pure speculation. Unless there's some sort of source verifying it, I feel it doesn't belong there. - Anon

I reworded that part. It is not necessary to mention the event of Dry Bowser in the end, so a more concise wording is better anyway.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:18, 29 June 2016 (EDT)

List of StampsEdit

Why don't we make a list of Stamps for this game like we did with the previous games?--Red Yoshi 1.5 & Squid Sisters (talk) 04:08, 14 July 2016 (EDT)

Sorry for the late response! Yes, a list of stamps is doable and welcome, although at the moment I don't think I'll find the time for that. If you want, you can do it yourself.--Mister Wu (talk) 14:20, 17 July 2016 (EDT)

In-game stats barEdit

I tried replicating the stats bar to show the stats for the characters, but I'm having troubles doing it properly. I measured them from a 1280 x 720 screenshot and here's what I found:

  • The bars are approximately 140 pixels wide
  • The left border is approximately 5 pixels wide
  • The length of the red bars ranges from about 50 pixels (all 7 dots fully visible) to about 120 pixels (no dots visible), 10 pixels separate the center of one dot from the center of the next dot, for main characters theere are jumps of about 5 pixels

For now I'm using this "stats ranging from 10 to 80" interpretation (although the stats might actually be from 0 to 70), I would like to know if there's a better interpretation and especially if there's a faithful way of conveying this information without sacrificing the information content.--Mister Wu (talk) 07:13, 21 July 2016 (EDT)

I now found a way to make bars that respect the conditions above (but don't show the dots), still, I would like to know what do you think about it. The template, if you want to loook at it, is this one.--Mister Wu (talk) 07:52, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
I'm pretty sure the stats range from 1 to 90 (excluding zero), similar to how the stats in MK7 and MK8 range from 0.25 to 6 (excluding zero). The numbers 85 and 90 are reachable only when a character is fired up (only in Heroes Showdown they can be fired up), while numbers below 10 (1 to 9) are unreachable at all, even if the members are slumped down (only in Heroes Showdown they can be slumped down). Also, I think that Rosalina actually has stats, they're just not displayed only in Rhythmic Gymnastics, because stats don't matter in that event. Gold Luigi (talk) 05:36, 22 July 2016 (EDT)

(Also, I'm actually Sarantis, I simply had changed my username to Gold Luigi because my #1 favorite video game character of all time is Gold Luigi!)

I know you are Sarantis, don't worry. I'm putting base stats for the moment, so the above 80 part is not important, though I'll watch my playthrough of Heroes Showdown to confirm if the remaining 10 pixels are filled when fired up (I'll add this information if they are, and I'll also take a look at slumping down, thanks for the tip!). Regarding the points, remember that 10-80 was chosen instead of 0-70 because it gives rise to a nice 150 points sum for characters instead of 120 points sum, and because when I started transcribing the stats counting the dots I though that 10 points were enough to create that non-empty bar for minimum stats (but I was wrong, it should have been 50 if I wanted to recreate that effect). Of course, if SEGA uses for each event equations directly based on stats instead of stat translation tables like MK7 and MK8 (which would make sense, as all the values in between can be observed with Mii outfits and hats, and a 3 70-entries stats translation tables for each event wouldn't be very sensible), 10 is way better than 0 due to the famous "division by 0" problems. Unfortunately, I don't know what the offset used might be, so I can only make a guess between 0, 10 and 50, based on the sum of the points for the characters (120 points, 150 points and 270 points respectively) and on the range of values they create (0-70 means that max is infinitely bigger than min, 10-80 means max is 8 times the min, 50-120 means that the max is 2.4 times the min).--Mister Wu (talk) 07:23, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
Good! Also, good think I though about it now, will you test the stats to see if they're tiered or not? Also, I bet that SEGA is gonna copypaste every single thing related to stats from Rio 2016 and put them at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, so that they don't make things worse to the stats, just like Nintendo which had copypasted every single thing related to stats from MK7 and put them back in MK8, which is why the acceleration tiers returned in MK8, without screwing up anything else in the stats at the same time. Gold Luigi (talk) 09:38, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
I don't think I will test them, the tests would be more difficult and the system they are using does not seem to be based on stats translation tables like in MK8, but it seems to directly use the stats for the physics calculations, therefore unless there are bugs in the calculations like in MK8 150cc, there shouldn't be tiering like in MK8. I just checked the Heroes Showdown footage I had recorded and effectively the bar can be completely filled save for the border - the bars in Heroes Showdown is only 105 pixels long with a border of 3 pixels, but the left border was like the right border, indicating that indeed the max is either 80, 90 or 130. I don't think I have footage of athletes that are slumped down, so more than a week will be needed to know if 7 visible dots is indeed the minimum, as I'm going on vacation tomorrow. By the way, how did you find Rosalina's stats?--Mister Wu (talk) 14:08, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
Put in the Rosalina Costume on any Mii character, and you'll see her stats there! You know that if you put in a character's costume, you'll have the exact same stats as that character right!? (e.g. if you put in the Mario Costume, you'll have the exact same stats as Mario.) That happens with Rosalina's costume as well; if you put in her costume, you'll reveal and see her stats!!! Pretty cool huh!? It is also possible to have the exact same stats as the goalies and teammates of both Football and Rugby Sevens events!!! (Although there isn't a Boom Boom costume, so you can only do that with Birdo and Egg Pawn.) Birdo is a Skill type character (she has the exact same stats as all Skill type Guests, put in the Birdo costume to have Birdo's stats), while Egg Pawn is a Power type character (he has the exact same stats as Wendy O. Koopa, put in the Egg Pawn costume to have Egg Pawn's stats). Also, I'm actually starting to think about the stats themselves; SEGA overtested this game in my opinion, as they didn't rush it for the holidays or any specific dates, like in MK7 and MK8. That's why I believe they'll rescue the coding and appearance of Rio 2016 in future games. Gold Luigi (talk) 14:54, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
That was smart, props for using this very nice method! Have you seen if the stats of Birdo and Egg Pawns are the same seen in the goalie selection screen? If they are, I should add them, both to the event-specific stats and the character stats.--Mister Wu (talk) 20:33, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
Actually, I just discovered that the Egg Pawns indeed have the same stats regardless of the event, So I just added the stats for the supporting characters and added the goalies-specific stats. Thanks for the tips!--Mister Wu (talk) 22:12, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
Never mind, just realized how it works: the layout is made so that the minimum length of the bar is 30 pixels (the red border around the yellow dot is 6 pixels and the diameter of the dot is 18 pixels), the maximum length is 130 pixels, so the values simply range from 0 to 100... How couldn't I notice that? Anyway, I directly updated the template so it already displays the correct information without having to manually update all the stats.--Mister Wu (talk) 23:32, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
The Mugshot for Yellow Birdo, Yellow Boom Boom and Yellow Egg Pawn (only P4 gets Yellow Birdos, Yellow Boom Booms and Yellow Egg Pawns) are missing. I wonder why. Also, all 12 of them (Birdo, Boom Boom and Egg Pawn multiple the 4 colors, or 3x4=12) have their own head, which is displayed when setting up the teammates, goalies, etc, like with their mugshot. Also, I'm glad you found your mistake!!! I wonder how the bar looks like below 20. It's so hard for me to imagine how it looks like below 20!! Another thing you and everyone else and me should note is that all Birdos, Boom Booms and Egg Pawns have the exact same stats, regardless of their color. Gold Luigi (talk) 04:51, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
You can now look at the template to see how 0 in a stat should look like, I also fixed the characters' stats and the template so the template now works using values from 0 to 100 as it should. It now can be used also for hats and outfits that increase the stats of an amount less than 10. Regarding heads and mugshots, those were taken from here, and the yellow color you mention is missing, it hasn't been ripped for some unknown reason. Also the heads are at a lower resolution and haven't been imported in the gallery so far, which is why I haven't used them. Feel free to fix this problem with heads and mugshots.--Mister Wu (talk) 05:33, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
Template? I don't even understand that word. I tried translating that word on Google Translator, but still don't get the meaning. Am I supposed to edit anything? I'm afraid I might screw things up! I know there's a preview button, but again, I don't want to screw up anything!! Gold Luigi (talk) 05:59, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
You don't have to edit the template, of course, you can find the link in the discussion above to just see it (the first value is set at 0 as test). I was talking about trying to find this yelow coloring for Egg Pawns, Birdos and Boom Booms and, if you like, to extract the heads and upload them to the gallery.--Mister Wu (talk) 06:28, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
Ah, I understand now. Well, I don't know how to find the yellow coloring for Birdo, Boom Boom and Egg Pawn. I'm not even a guy who tries to find a game's files! The appearance of the 0 stat is so crazy, maybe SEGA should make the least you could get 1. Also, two Amy heads, wut. And I'm surprised on the fact that Red Yoshi and Yellow Yoshi DO have a head as well!!! I haven't seen their head ANYWHERE in-game!!! Where could they be?! Gold Luigi (talk) 08:33, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
if you see the yellow coloring of Birdos, Boom Booms and Egg Pawns, a screenshot will do the job: press the HOME button and choose the internet browser to login to your e-mail service's site. You will be able to send to yourself a screenshot of the image shown on the GamePad or on the TV as attachment. Of course, it is better to choose the screenshot of what is shown on the TV screen, that has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Regarding Yoshis with different colors, if I remember correctly they are sometimes seen on Heroes Showdown. When I come back, I will try to see all cases in which they appear, including but not limited to Heroes Showdown.--Mister Wu (talk) 12:00, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
I'm on my exotic place, and I didn't brought with me at least 4 controllers, I only brought 2 of them (the GamePad and a Wiimote), so yeah. I'll tell you when I'll need your help on this though. Regarding the other colored Yoshis now, I haven't seen Yellow Yoshi's and Red Yoshi's anywhere, including Heroes Showdown!!! Do I press and/or hold something to make them appear!? Gold Luigi (talk) 14:23, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
Sorry, the Yoshis having different colors were in the Mario League, not Heroes Showdown, as you can see here.--Mister Wu (talk) 13:04, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
I KNOW that only in the Mario League Yoshi has different colors! Their heads are nowhere to be seen however!!! Also, the link you have put in doesn't work. Another thing, do any Sonic characters have different colors/reskins etc.? Gold Luigi (talk) 05:25, 1 August 2016 (EDT)
So far, only 2 Yoshi colors have been found: red and yellow. They are also implied in the Yoshi's flag description. There are also the different Toads of the 4x100m guest challenge and, of course, the supporting characters who have different colors. No other character with different colors has been found, if I remember correctly. Anyway, I fixed the link. Also, since the 3DS version has stats explicitly coded out of 10 and the arcade version has stats implicitly coded out of 10 (they are [10 - number of visible dots] with a sum for playable character of 18 like in this game, and the bar has been modified so that 10 fills it even if it should not according to the format they use), I recoded the stats out of 10 and modified the template so nothing is broken.--Mister Wu (talk) 19:54, 2 August 2016 (EDT)
I'm glad to hear that! But I still have to hear on where I can find Red Yoshi's and Yellow Yoshi's head (not the ones that appear on the results screen, but the ones that appear on the character select screen)! I understand for the three different colored Toads, since they only appear in the Guest Match, but how can Red Yoshi and Yellow Yoshi have one!? Also, I'm happy with the stats now that they're 100% fixed now! Even though the bars that show the stats are thiner and longer (which I guess they truly are). Not sure about the Arcade Edition though. But even still, I still think they overtested this game, and Ithink they DID overtest the stats as well, so that they're flawless everywhere!!! I hope they resue this stat system to future games, like they resued the MK7 stat system to MK8. Gold Luigi (talk) 05:25, 3 August 2016 (EDT)
I just noticed that the Egg Pawn has the exact same stats as Wendy O. Koopa!!! How could I miss this before!? Because of this, I just changed slightly the text that says on how I found Rosalina's stats and how I compare the other characters' stats, so that it says that it shares its stats with her. This also marks Wendy O. Koopa the only character who doesn't share her stats with another Guest character; her stats are unique compared to other characters (excluding the supporting characters). Boom Boom's stats, however, are unique to him alone, meaning that NO ONE ELSE shares his/her stats with Boom Boom!!! I found that today as well. Gold Luigi (talk) 05:11, 25 July 2016 (EDT)
OK, how do I send a screenshot to my e-mail? I have Gmail to get my e-mails. I'm planning to get the yellow coloring for Birdos, Boom Booms and Egg Pawns. Gold Luigi (talk) 07:16, 17 September 2016 (EDT)
Just use Internet Browser from the Home menu and use it to login to GMail. Use the basic HTML version, as the full HTML version is too much for the Wii U. Send yourself an e-mail and choose to add an attachment. You will be able to send either the image on your TV (the big screenshot, actually 1280x720 resolution JPEG with 2x2, or 4:0:0 chroma subsampling and a quality that should be 95), or theiamge on your GamePad (same settings as TV screenshot, but 854x480 resolution if I am not mistaken). I highly recommend the iamge on your TV, of course.
By the way, I updated the bars using values even more similar to the ones used: the outer border is now 3 relative pixels (I'm actually using em) and the yellow circle has now a diameter of 20 relative pixels, which leads the bar to the new maximum length of 132 relative pixels. Nothing changes practically, of course, as the stat still goes from 0 to 10, and I actually even discovered that the developers put the dots at the position where the center of the yellow circle goes when you have that specific integer stat. If you take a screenshot before the stats of the default character of the character select screen appear you'll be able to see the empty bars, there are 11 dots, including the dot for the 0 value, and of course with the maximum stats the circle has the center poisitoned on the dot corresponding to the 9 value, so nothing changes really, it's just a neat confirmation that the conclusions were right, hopefully I'll show that to you when I'll manage to get the screenshots of the English version.--Mister Wu (talk) 08:46, 17 September 2016 (EDT)
I didn't have enough time to take the screenshots of Yellow Birdo, Boom Boom and Egg Pawn, so I'll take them the following Friday instead. You don't need to pause the game to the right time to see the empty bars. Just put the cursor in the "Random" button, or the "Switch to Mii characters/Team Mario & Team Sonic" button, and you'll see the empty bar here. It can also be seen in Football, Duel Fottball, Rugby Sevens, Duel Rugby Sevens, Beach Volleyball and Duel Beach Volleyball when setting up your teammate. The bar is also slightly different in Heroes Showdown; the dot for the 0 value is absent, and is replaced with the 10 value dot, since their stats can go up to 10 if they're fired up. However these bars never show up in the 6 mentioned events, even when they're played during Heroes Showdown. Gold Luigi (talk) 14:01, 19 September 2016 (EDT)
I finally can say my final results. It's a long story why I did it so late, but it's very long, so I'm just gonna skip to the results. There's no Yellow Birdo, Yello Boom Boom and Yellow Egg Pawn at all!!! Why they don't exist at all? Well, there are 2 reasons why they don't exist at all: 1) When playing with 3 or 4 players, you can only have Team Versus matches on all Team Events (it doesn't allow Regular Versus and Co-Op Play with 3 or 4 players, even in events where up to 4 characters can be in the same team), and 2) P4 can't be a captain at all in any way; since the game puts the players in numerical order, and there's no way to choose which human player will be the captain, the captain of the team is always the player with the lowest number (e.g. number 1 is lower than number 2, so the captain of the team will be Player 1). Gold Luigi (talk) 08:43, 27 September 2016 (EDT)
How can I put in the heads for the supporting characters into this wiki? I want to put them in the "Supporting Characters" section, as I want to replace their Mugshots with their heads in that section (like with the rest of the cast, which shows their head). Gold Luigi (talk) 13:06, 28 September 2016 (EDT)
They were extracted from this sheet, I suspect that the reason why the supporting characters' heads haven't been uploaded is that they are extremely small and would likely look blurry on the table. By the way, I'm glad that you discovered why there weren't yellow models at all!--Mister Wu (talk) 13:32, 28 September 2016 (EDT)
I still want to put them on the site. Besides, the other character heads don't look blurry on the characters section. Gold Luigi (talk) 17:02, 28 September 2016 (EDT)

Um, hello? I said I still want the supporting characters' heads, even if they look blurry. And then I'll see if they'll look good. Also, I feel bad for Boom Boom for not having a yellow coloring at all; not even a model of it, since Yellow Birdos and Yellow Egg Pawns exist in the London 2012 Olympics. Gold Luigi (talk) 17:31, 30 September 2016 (EDT)

If you want me to upload them, you'll likely have to wait a few days...--Mister Wu (talk) 19:05, 30 September 2016 (EDT)
*sigh* I'm not sure about this then. Until then (if you do it), I'll change their Mugshot order, so they appear in Player Order (P1 is first and has blue, P2 is second and has red, and P3 is last and has green). Gold Luigi (talk) 05:10, 1 October 2016 (EDT)
If you think it's better not to include the supporting characters heads in the wiki at the moment, then don't take them. Do what you think it's better. The choice is 100% yours. Gold Luigi (talk) 13:40, 2 October 2016 (EDT)
In the end I managed to include them both in the main page and in the gallery.--Mister Wu (talk) 17:22, 2 October 2016 (EDT)
Wow!!! I hadn't noticed the change until now!!! I'm surprised how you managed to do it!!! That was a lot faster than I thought!!! I thought it would take about 2 weeks... BTW, will you add the Red Yoshi and Yellow Yoshi heads in the gallery? They seem to be unused in any way, since they only appear as CPU partners; they never appear as team leaders at all. Gold Luigi (talk) 18:14, 2 October 2016 (EDT)
The section of the gallery is called Heads, so there shouldn't be any problem in adding the differently-colored Yoshis. I will probably do it in another moment.--Mister Wu (talk) 19:04, 2 October 2016 (EDT)
I know it is called Heads, but all I know about Red and Yellow Yoshi's heads are unused in the game. Will you add to their head once you add them that they're unused? Gold Luigi (talk) 04:13, 3 October 2016 (EDT)
I'll surely add them, just not immediately!--Mister Wu (talk) 08:41, 3 October 2016 (EDT)
Dang, I miswritten my previous post on this discussion. My bad! And yes, I know you can't add them immediately! Keep doing your job with patience! Gold Luigi (talk) 10:45, 3 October 2016 (EDT)
Will you upload the game's logo from languages other than English (French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, and Korean)? I know we have the box art, but I still recommend doing so. I recommend you to take them from the 3DS version of the site, as the logo here is bigger than in the Wii U version of the site.

French: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/fr_FR/index.html

German: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/de_DE/index.html

Spanish: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/es_ES/index.html

Italian: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/it_IT/index.html

Dutch: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/nl_NL/index.html

Japanese: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/bgxj/index.html

Korean: http://www.nintendo.co.kr/3DS/software/bgxj/index.html

You might also upload the English again again, but from its website now (it might have been updated compared to the logo shown at E3 2015): http://www.olympicvideogames.com/en_US/

Also, do it before it's too late! This games' site for all Western regions won't last forever, like with the past 4 entries! Gold Luigi (talk) 15:20, 6 December 2016 (EST)

Done! The English logo is the same, so I think we can just keep the complete, high resolution version. If you find other official artwork on the sites that might be useful, tell me!--Mister Wu (talk) 20:55, 6 December 2016 (EST)
It looks like all logos (except for the Korean one) include the "Rio 2016" with the logo on the Wii U version of the site!!! The bad thing is that they are seperated from each other, and not connected, so I dunno how are you gonna put them both in the same screenshot. However, the actual logo keeps the exact same resolution, even though it looks significantly smaller than on 3DS (but try to put it in the gallery anyway). Anyways, I'll show you the languages again:

French: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/wiiu/fr_FR/index.html

German: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/wiiu/de_DE/index.html

Spanish: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/wiiu/es_ES/index.html

Italian: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/wiiu/it_IT/index.html

Dutch: http://www.olympicvideogames.com/wiiu/nl_NL/index.html

Japanese: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/abjj/index.html

Gold Luigi (talk) 12:20, 7 December 2016 (EST)

If you look at the page structure or code, you'll see that this is not the case, the Rio 2016 logo is always separated from the title of the game, the only exception is the English logo we have uploaded in this wiki that comes from a different source (presse release material, judging from the resolution). Since we already have an higher resolution version of that logo, I don't see the need to upload it separately.--Mister Wu (talk) 13:05, 7 December 2016 (EST)
Whatever you say "Mister" Wu! Gold Luigi (talk) 13:42, 7 December 2016 (EST)
I know I should've said it earlier, but can you just add the Arcade Edition logos? I believe it has only English and Japanese variants. Gold Luigi (talk) 11:58, 8 December 2016 (EST)
Added! Unfortunately, the big logo on the Japanese site is actually part of the background image, so to avoid risking unwanted modifications of the logos I went with the smaller "home" logo on the other pages.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:00, 8 December 2016 (EST)

Boom Boom model has been foundEdit

As expected, in the game's code the model for Boom Boom has been found (it's on the lower right corner). Should this site be added to the references and the implications of this finding be added to the relevant part in the Pre-release and unused content section or there are trouble linking to it?--Mister Wu (talk) 20:28, 22 July 2016 (EDT)

A direct link to the model's resource page isn't necessary. And long as there is at least one of the Boom Boom models uploaded here as a supporting image to use on the Pre-release section.
  Shokora (talk · edits) 05:46, 23 July 2016 (EDT)
Are you sure this model is not demonstrating the fact that the headgear is an attachment model to the head-gearless Boom Boom model? I've downloaded the file and the Boom Boom model is separate from the headgear.   Ray Trace(T|C) 17:49, 25 July 2016 (EDT)
Yeah, per Baby Luigi. It would be just easier to create a headgear model to fit on top of an existing Boom-Boom model. This isn't "unused".   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:55, 25 July 2016 (EDT)
Fine! Thanks for the clarification! I didn't download the model and the illustration wasn't clear. At this point, I won't add this to the "Pre-release and Unused Content" section, of course.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:36, 25 July 2016 (EDT)

There's a mistakeEdit

I don't know when the Ghost match thing is unlocked, but it says here that it is unlocked after the versus Arena is completed. I have the entrance unlocked and playable, but not the statue. There's a mistake.   Mr squid Talk Edits 14:10, 26 July 2016 (EDT)

In the playthroughs I've seen the Ghost Match was unlocked along with the Versus Arena. If you can tell me how and when it was unlocked in your playthrough, I will verify and correct the information.--Mister Wu (talk) 16:15, 26 July 2016 (EDT)
I unlocked it after getting the third or fouth medal or something. I don't remember too much.   Mr squid Talk Edits 14:56, 15 August 2016 (EDT)
Fine, if you can find exactly how, I'll add it. You can understand that I can't write in the main page after getting the third or fourth medal or something. At the moment I'm trying to fully complete the game, after that I might try it by putting the save file in an usb drive and then starting over with another save file to test this alternative way to unlock the Ghost Match Entrance, but if you can find it before I do so I would be glad.--Mister Wu (talk) 15:11, 15 August 2016 (EDT)
When I played through the game, I was able to see the Ghost Match area after clearing the qualification round of my second tournament, along with the Miiverse Monitor. Clearing the tournament let me try it out. If that's not how it's supposed to be unlocked, let me know.--Owencrazyboy9) 17:50 3 September 2016 (EDT)
Don't worry about being supposed to, Versus Arena is unlocked in two different ways as well (winning all emblems in Single Matches or winning at least seven bronze medals). Surely, in my game ghost matches were unlocked when unlocking the Versus Arena, could you point out what kind of tournament you were playing? Ghost Matches can be applied to three events, and maybe playing in tournaments of two of these events might be enough to unlock the Ghost Matches. I would be even more grateful if you can point out a video that shows the new unclocking crterion. I'm sorry that I haven't seen this yet, I'm still completing my game.--Mister Wu (talk) 16:11, 4 September 2016 (EDT)
My second tournament was Rhythmic Gymnastics. I chose to do that next, because there are practically no stats for the event, so my Mii could have a chance beating Rosalina. Sometime after passing the qualification, the Ghost Match was available and after winning the Guest Match, I could try it out for myself. As of this writing, I have not unlocked Heroes Showdown yet. Also, when you start Tournament mode after winning 5 events in Single Match, you MUST do 100m as your first tournament.--Owencrazyboy9

The table of the costumesEdit

The questionable image

I'm sorry to have undone the change again, at the moment I'm constrained in the time and I'm on mobile. The problem is that the stats of the costume are not the sum of the stats of the individual parts. The table should probably be redone like this:

Character Costume Stats Head Stats Body Stats

Now, the images of the heads and bodies are publicly available, still since extracting them requires time, that Wendy costume image would be a nice placeholder for the head. Unfortunately, today I don't have the time to do this, tomorrow I should be able to change the table.--Mister Wu (talk) 17:33, 20 August 2016 (EDT)

I think I see now. It looks like the image is using the head of Wendy O. Koopa and the body of Wave the Swallow, right? So the image is unusable and should be deleted? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:49, 20 August 2016 (EDT)
Well, the image can be replaced with a new one without having to delete it, of course the current body is the one of Wave, so at most the current image can be used as placeholder for the head part of the costume. The longer term idea is obtaining the large images of heads and bodies from here and adding them to the images of the costumes.--Mister Wu (talk) 20:07, 20 August 2016 (EDT)

DemoEdit

This game also has a demo version similar to the 3DS Version of London 2012,Mario & Luigi: Dream Team,Mario Golf: World Tour, etc. --Red Yoshi 1.5 & Squid Sisters (talk) 17:56, 21 August 2016 (EDT)

I didn't notice that the games have also a "Demo" section. I will add the section on the demo, then.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:56, 21 August 2016 (EDT)

"Olympic Games Events" or just "Olympic Events"?Edit

Should the "Olympic Games Events" section be renamed to just "Olympic Events"? I've just noticed that on the official website for the 3DS version calls the regular events "Olympic Games Events" (like in the official website for the Wii U version), but in-game on the 3DS version, they are simply called "Olympic Events". "ESRB Rating and boxart"Edit

This game is rated E10+, not E.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by UltraEGX (talk).

Hmm, the website does in fact say it's rated E10+, but the boxart on the wiki says it's rated E. I'm not from America so I don't know the reason for this inconsistency, but perhaps someone else knows.   Mario JC 18:19, 26 February 2017 (EST)
Our image appears to be outdated, as the official site's boxart also has an E10+ on it. Perhaps we uploaded the image before the increase in rating was enacted.    18:24, 26 February 2017 (EST)
The game box sold in stores says E10+, so it's official. In fact, if you see unboxings of the game or listings on eBay, it says E10+ instead of E. It turns out the E rating was only temporarily. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 18:25, 26 February 2017 (EST)

That makes sense, thanks. I'll go ahead and change them.   Mario JC 19:04, 26 February 2017 (EST)

Dialogue Resource?Edit

Has anyone ripped the dialogue for this game? It'd take an eternity to get every single possible quote through gameplay just because a lot of the responses you get in the beach hub are situational.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by SpikesHigh (talk).

The game's script, including the dialogue, has been ripped, but since there's quite a lot of material in it, much more than in the few tables of in-game data I usually publish, I think it makes sense to publish it only if more users are interested in it.--Mister Wu (talk) 16:02, 9 July 2017 (EDT)
Oh it has been ripped? Then why can't I find it? I really would love to see the dialogues. --105.66.129.19 08:05, 11 August 2018 (EDT)
It's ripped, but not published here, since we aren't sure if we need all this material covered here.--Mister Wu (talk) 23:05, 11 August 2018 (EDT)

Jet, Diddy Kong, and Toad's Award Ceremony AnimationsEdit

So recently, I watched a YouTube video by TetraBitGaming, who explains how you can use a specific emulator to access this game's debug menu, which includes a section where you can put any character on the Award Ceremony. With that, could somebody possibly access that debug menu and see Jet, Toad, and Diddy Kong's award ceremony animations (for both 1st and 2nd/3rd place), and if so, could they make GIFs of them and add them to "Unused content" since they are unviewable in a normal game? Here's a link with instructions on how to access it: https://tcrf.net/Mario_%26_Sonic_at_the_Rio_2016_Olympic_Games_(Wii_U) PrPro03 (talk) 17:23, July 31, 2021 (EDT)
