Thunder Rage DisscusionEdit

Should we make this a sub-section of thunderbolt? You know, merge it or something? HK-47 15:48, 14 June 2006 (EDT)

Talking with User:Toadette the Achiever on talk page and his responding on mine we came to a disagreement on what to due with it. Me wanting to have them together, while Toadette the Achiever wanting to have them split. We made our arguments on these talk pages, but I will give you a summary.

  • Toadette the Achiever
    • doesn't have the Lightning icon (in the history of this page)
    • it's not confirmed IF it's the same Lightning (in the history of the M&LSS template)
    • Green Star was strongly opposed until info about them being the same appeared
    • Having them together is having Fire Bros. (move) and Fire Flower together
  • Me
    • it does have a similar icon (thunderbolt)
    • they behave similarly to each other
    • same object to fall from the sky
    • having them split is like splitting the Poison Mushrooms base on appearance or Banana Peels from Bananas
    • Fire Bros. (move) and Fire Flower (in the same series) are visibly different and its usage (buttons and every or one enemy) was different too, unlike this
    • Even more similar to each other than Green Stars (Toadette the Achiever disagrees)
    • Mario Kart item, but action is the same (and has exact same effect for teams)
  • My main argument is this: It never was in the Mario & Luigi series, so it's kind of hard to say that it is different. Judging by what is in the series (thunder) and what this object does, I say that it is Lightning (main article) in the game.

Having neither of us agreeing, this became a proposal to determine what to do with this.

  1. Lcrossmk8 (talk) The captain command is a unique and distinctive move, and to have it merged with the regular item won't do it any good. Remember, the captain command is a move, and the regular lightning bolt is an item. Also, if it isn't confirmed to be the same lightning, we shouldn't be wasting our time debating about whether it is, and we should just keep the two split. It doesn't make sense to have the two merged.
  2. Toadette the Achiever (talk) Per Lcrossmk8. His rationale perfectly sums up my concerns about this proposal.
  3. Alex95 (talk) - Per my comments below. The Lightning in Mario Kart acts differently than the one in Minion Quest. Mario Kart's shrinks and slows racers, whereas the move in Minion Quest also reduces other stats. The icon is also different, looks like a blue spark than a yellow thunderbolt.

Okay, thanks, I found the visuals I needed. But the deciding factor for me will be this: What does it do? Text box says "small and weak", but what does that mean exactly? What stats decrease?    20:30, 30 December 2017 (EST)
After testing Lightning out on Captain Boo Trial (I can confirm that this trial makes use of Lightning), I can confirm that it lowers POW AND DEF. HP would be ridiculous to lower due to it being their health. And they eventually return to normal. The thing is, Mario Kart has a different stats. And Lightning doesn't just effect speed. It effects weight too. While I can't confirm SPEED, there was a difference, but it very could have happen by chance or other factors. It's very possible that the skill was made as a reference to the Mario Kart variation, due to the similarities. But since it's a skill/item used in an RPG and a racing genre, there appear to be differences as well. How it's used and what happens differ between games.    15:40, 31 December 2017 (EST)
