Donkey Kong 64[edit]

Is there any proof that the muscular clubbers in Donkey Kong 64 are supposed to be Krashes? They seem more like a derived species if anything. LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:10, May 8, 2021 (EDT)

If it's not called that in any guide, then no. Krashes are literally just Kritters in mine carts that, well, try to crash into the Kongs. The DK64 guys try to club them instead. While the mine cart clubbers clearly don't resemble the Kritters in DK64, they do resemble their muscular, gold-bellied DKC design (they also have nipples for some reason...). The only way I can think of to prove it would be to get direct word from the creators themselves. Dark BonesSig.png 15:53, May 8, 2021 (EDT)
If you do, while you're at it, ask about Kackle and the resident demon, because those are even less different than these (actually was about to bring this up myself, convenient). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:36, May 8, 2021 (EDT)
The closest guide mentions are as follows. In the BradyGAMES guide, Wrinkly's tip on page 18 "To steer clear of the falling TNT barrels, slow down by pulling back on the Control Stick. However, this tactic will not fool the attacking Kremlins[sic] in the opposing carts. For these acts of aggression, try jumping or simply speeding up." Then page 91: "The second lever you approach will be to the left; if you pull it, boulders will drop onto the Kremling in the cart beside you." For reference, this also brings up the resident demon on page 128: "This is similar to the other mine cart rides. In this version, DK will confront an angry apparition who will try to steel[sic] your coins by throwing his ghastly fists at you. […] Jump from track to track using the Control Stick to avoid the resident demon and to collect coins." In the Versus Books guide, on page 15: "Hark back to the days of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom with this thrilling minecart ride. Just like Indy, you’ll be able to race across rickety tracks, collect Coins, and dodge club-wielding alligators!" On page 42 of the Prima guide: "Watch for the club-wielding Kremling. Jump so his swings pass harmlessly under Diddy." Page 108: "Kremlings with clubs, TNT Barrels on carts, and switches you must lean out and throw are all present." For reference, the resident demon on 130: "You might also notice a ghostly skeletal Kremling looming over you. […] Sometimes that big ghost will spew out flaming skulls that chase you down." On page 91 of the Shogakukan guide (page 29 mostly describes the steps to reach Diddy's Mine Cart Ride): 「ゲートや障害物にぶつかると、せっかくめたコインが3ずつってしまう。」 And the demon on page 111: 「おばけがしたらジャンプ、いたらレーンチェンジでかわそう。」 None of them give a proper name. If they should share the same article, maybe tag it as part conjecture? Or, if it should split, maybe "Klash" is a suitable conjectural name? LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:55, May 15, 2021 (EDT)
I'd say split in the absence of proof that they're the same. Their similarities don't automatically make them the same thing (e.g. Kritters and Kobbles; Klobbers and Knockas). I'd suggest "mine cart clubber" or something similar as the article title, since conjectural names are meant to be descriptive rather than creative or imaginative (I'd suggest "Kremling clubber" if Klubba and Kudgel didn't exist). "Klash" doesn't really get the point across. Dark BonesSig.png 19:31, May 18, 2021 (EDT)
Karter, maybe? (still think someone should ask a staff member on Twitter, tho) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:59, May 18, 2021 (EDT)
