::First off those are just simple recolors on the Mario Bros. and Wario and Waluigi are already unique characters. Metal and Gold Mario are power-ups but also being exactly the same as the character variants in some spin-offs minus a small difference in the eyes. Those recolors are too obvious to be real characters as it is, Smash recolors everyone in general so that doesn't compare either, not just the Mario Bros. They are also not separate characters either there is a difference between costumes and separate characters, costumes are basically selecting a different varient on the same character. :::Yeah, no. The gold Metal Mario in Mario Golf was just a coincidence and not actually supposed to be an early appearance of Gold Mario, especially since the power-up wouldn't even be created for over 10 years at that point. It's the same scenario as characters like Mario, Luigi, and others appearing as babies in the cartoons before the first appearance of Baby Mario and characters like him. It's not Baby Mario, it's Mario as a baby. The same thing applies here, it's not Gold Mario, it's a golden Metal Mario. Besides, if we're going to start splitting alternate skins for characters just because they happen to look like another character in the series, that's a huge can of worms. --{{User:Waluigi Time/sig}} 12:49, August 18, 2019 (EDT)

Video with Gold Mario

[1]

At the beginning of the video, you can see the fireball that Gold Mario shoots turns the blocks into coins. The article should be updated with this info. GreenDisaster (talk) 12:56, 17 August 2012 (EDT)

Enemies

Can someone list enemies Gold Mario can't kill? Technickal (talk)

The Koopalings, but even those can be killed by fireballs/goldballs, if you hit one with them enough.

Hi! I'm Electrical Bowser jr.!

Artwork

Shouldn't we use the artwork which features Mario and Luigi instead of just Mario to represent the article. We're so lucky they were put together so why not use it? JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 05:24, 27 August 2012 (EDT)

Gold Mario's true debut and be a separate article?

Shouldn't Gold Mario's debut be in Mario Golf (64) who was a skin for Metal Mario which was way before the NSMB2 form debuted? I know he wasn't called "Gold Mario" back then and is just a golden skin for Metal Mario in that game but he is still a "Gold" Mario character and metallic also. I know this article is about the form that debuted in NSMB2 with homages to it, but I feel there should be a separate article for the character Gold Mario along with the one that debuted in Mario Golf 64 when it wasn't the modern power-up form yet at the time, much like Metal Mario having a separate article between the character and form, not to mention Gold Mario lacks pupils like the character Metal Mario in only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart Tour (though oddly his artwork gives him pupils only because it's recycled from Mario Golf World Tour) while it's also a skin for Metal Mario and they share the same voices too, Gold Mario is still separated by the form from Metal Mario even if it's a simple retexture in that game for the character-based power-ups which acts as a variant for Metal Mario, similar to the Shy Guy, Yoshi, and Inkling colors, which they are seperated from the character as species, Let's not forget that Skyward Sword and Breath Of The Wild Link are skinned in that port but are separate Links. I know Gold Mario has pupils in Mario Golf World Tour but it's proven to be Mario himself as his losing animation turns him back to his normal/super form and he is using his golden fireballs with that form as DLC in that game despite being a separate character with his own special ability not to mention he is reusing Mario's voice clips and not Metal Mario's. gamermakerguy

Then, by that logic, Luigi's Waluigi outfit from Super Smash Bros. Brawl is an appearance of Waluigi, Mario's Wario outfit from Super Mario Odyssey is an appearance of Wario, and the Luigi badge from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is an appearance of Luigi. Alternate skins aren't necessarily appearances from the character they mimic, especially if the character probably wasn't even planned at that point.
