Image quality

A lot of the images on this page are of terrible quality. Plus, is a page like this needed? We can say on each character article what their emblem is. -- Son of Suns (talk)

I think it's quite interesting to know all the characters emblems in just one page. Sorry, but I couldn't find find better images :(

Do we need an infobox for this? If so, what picture will it have?

M&SOWG Emblems

Emblems from other games

I think more emblems should be added here, specifically from:

• Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

• Every Mario Tennis game after the original (Aces, Ultra Smash, Open, Power Tennis)

• Possibly Mario Kart Tour?

Mario Kart Tour Emblem Order?

Dr. Mario World Placed Last?

Does Mario Kart: Double Dash!! actually have emblems?

I've ripped the textures for each and every kart present in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! so I could add their emblems to the page. Thing is, what exactly are the emblems in this game? Some karts such as the Red Fire have obvious emblem placement, while others like the Piranha Pipe don't at all. Not only that, but you also have the plates in which the second driver stands which have some sort of insignia akin to emblems in them, which often doesn't actually match the emblems for the characters in following games. I know every kart has an emblem on the back platform, so that definitely counts. We could just say that certain karts also have emblems elsewhere on the kart body, which would serve as the basis for emblem placement in future Mario Kart games. MarioComix (talk) 18:58, September 5, 2020 (EDT)

I've finished ripping every kart texture and uploading it into The Textures Resource. From here on we can figure out what should count as an emblem for the sake of this page.

I'm thinking that the image on the back platform, and every other emblem-like image, should count for our emblem page. It's just that, since it was the first game to use emblems, they're not necessarily consistent with later emblems. MarioComix (talk) 15:38, September 10, 2020 (EDT)

Thanks for uploading these for the Double Dash emblems. I was just wondering if it would be possible to also upload the blue M and green L from the Baby Mario Bros' kart, and the front mustache decal and back platform from the Wario Car? I had already uploaded the blue M and green L before, I just didn't include them on the gallery because I could already mention instead that Baby Mario and Baby Luigi reuse Mario and Luigi's emblems respectively, and the color alteration doesn't mean much other than simply having to fit the karts' color schemes.

As for the Wario Car stuff, I don't really think they count as emblems moreso than just the pre-existing design of the Wario Car from WL4: in the case of the front mustache decal, that was already there in WL4, while the back platform doesn't really match the rest of the karts' platforms, it really looks more like a natural extension of the car itself to me, so I'm dubious about it counting as an emblem. I've also uploaded the Parade Kart's platform insignia just in case you also considered that to be an emblem, though maybe we shouldn't include it as every other emblem listing in the article is limited to characters and/or teams of characters. --Superstarxalien169 15:42, September 11, 2020 (EDT)

Oh yeah, I should also note that, at least for the kart emblem section, I'm going for "emblems" that subsequently became actual emblems in Mario Kart Tour; you'll notice that the emblems listed for Koopa, Paratroopa, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Bowser's karts all became actual emblems in Tour, and I'm expecting the same to go with Mario, Luigi, both Baby Mario and Baby Luigi's flower and letter emblems, and Waluigi. While Peach and Daisy's emblem locations probably won't be reused for actual emblems in Tour, they're really the only emblem design they have there, and it matches with the back platform, so I'm counting that as well. --Superstarxalien169 15:51, September 11, 2020 (EDT)

The mustache decal is understandable, I just thought that since it resembles Wario's mustache (which itself is used as his emblem in Mario Tennis Open) that we might add it to the list. I'll still add in the back platform emblems (save the Parade Kart) and the Baby Mario Bros' version of M and L since those platform emblems are the first real instance of proper symbols for each racer (but even this wasn't consistent, due to the shell karts and Barrel Train), whereas the Baby Mario Bros never actually use the red and green M&L in this game. We might want to retroactively apply the current rules (that the Baby Mario Bros generally share their emblem with the adult bros), but this kind of "historical development" should still be noted. After all, Baby Mario never again used his lowercase "m" emblem from Mario Tennis, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't include it here. Again, many thanks for your work in uploading these! List of character emblems

This is a good idea. I can't get an idea on what counts as an emblem that is valid enough to be displayed on the list, though. Currently, the list is missing emblems for Koopa Kid, Metal Mario and Pink Gold Peach, the Sonic characters that appear in the Mario & Sonic series, the Namco Bandai characters that appear in the Mario Kart Arcade GP series, and the humans that are playable in the N64 version of Mario Tennis. Do we add all of those? We have Fly Guy, Gooper Blooper, Link, and even Fawful in there, after all. For characters already on the list, shouldn't "emblems" from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! also be counted? It has some unique icons for characters like Peach and Bowser Jr.. --Superstarxalien169 20:05, September 30, 2021 (EDT)
