Are we sure that these guys actually throttle Mario? TV Tropes' article says that they make a sucking noise when they attack indicating they're drinking some of Mario's blood. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:57, March 22, 2024 (EDT)

- Found footage of the animation here. The bat clings to Mario with an animation that looks like biting, while Mario's face is drained of colour. The article seems to interpret the colour change as Mario getting choked, but considering this is a bat enemy named after Dracula, it's probably supposed to be sucking Mario's blood.
