What does this have to do with Mario?Toadbert101 18:18, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

Its in Super Smash.SaudyTalk!

I know what you mean, but it was actually Super Smash Bros. Melee, not the original. Sorry, just had to point that out. He appeared in Event Match 18: Link's Adventure, where you played as Link against Dark Link, and both of you had two lives. It was really difficult for me, Dark Link was set to Hard or something. Its easy now, but when I first played it. Anyhoo, he appeared in Melee, and he might appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but, who knows. – My Bloody Valentine

Apparently, he is a boss fought by Link. I guess that's good enough to keep him as an article.Knife (talk) 21:24, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, if he appears in Super Smash Bros., then he is worthy for Mariowiki. After all, we've got a page on Whispy Woods, Tingle, even the Topi's from Ice Climber. So this should stay. - My Bloody Valentine

"He will be an alternate costume in Brawl?"Edit

Where was that confirmed? That wasn't on smashbros.com, was it? Infectedshroom  15:03, 19 October 2007 (EDT)

That was in the playable demo at the October Nintendo event. You'll find info on that under "E for All" on the official website, and movies are spread around the gaming sites. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 15:37, 19 October 2007 (EDT)

why it should be deletedEdit

I think the Dark Link article should be deleted bacause A. Mario never comes in any contact with him in Melee where Link fights him and B. in Brawl, all he is is an alternate costume. User:Lemmy Koopa Fan

The fact that Mario never comes in contact with Dark Link doesn't matter: the Super Smash. Bros. series is covered in this Wiki, as are all its NPCs. - Walkazo 01:18, 1 August 2009 (EDT)

Okay, I guess then it's good enough to be an article. User:Lemmy Koopa Fan

Merge with LinkEdit

don't merge 1-11
Dark Link is a character in the Zelda Universe. In the Super Smash Bros series,He is just an alternate costume for link.We dont have an article for red link or blue link,so there shouldnt be one for Dark Link.

SupportEdit

  1. yoshiyoshiyoshi (talk) per meself, and the proposals that merged Kirby and Giant Kirby, and Donkey Kong and Giant Donkey Kong

OpposeEdit

  1. Zero777 (talk) I would of agree with you on that, but the fact is Dark Link existed before his appearance in SSBM (or SSB) and we must cover everything in the SSB games individually.
  2. Goomba's Shoe15 (talk) Dark Link isnt just a random color he's a seperate character that you have to fight in the game and the reason we don't create articles for the other colors is because if im not mistaking those are just Link wearing one of his different Tunics from the games plus it would make no sense to merge this with link since Dark Link is a character in his own right the same reason we have two seperate pages for the Metal Marios even though one of the Metal Marios really only appears in Melee and Mario Golf.
  3. Reddragon19k (talk) - Of course we're not going to merge it! Link and Dark Link share the same thing but, I'm not going to merge it so... leave it and per both!
  4. Bop1996 (talk) Within the Zelda universe, Dark Link is a separate entity. Zelda Wiki itself lists the costume change for Link on Dark Link's article. Dark Link is fought as a separate entity in SSBM and therefore should have his own article as a separate entity. So one of Link's costumes looks like Dark Link. I think one of Mario's costumes looks like Wario's outfit... No reason to merge Mario and Wario, because are two different entities. See where I'm getting with this?
  5. Mario4Ever (talk) Per Bop1996.
  6. M&SG (talk) - See my comment for more.
  7. Mpeng (talk) Two different individuals
  8. Walkazo (talk) - Per the folks who argue that they're separate entities in the SSB games: it's the same reasoning for why we have the Metal Mario (character) page.
  9. Mario vs Luigi (talk) Per all
  10. Bowser's luma (talk) Per all.
  11. UltraMario3000 (talk) Unlike Giant Kirby and Giant Donkey Kong, this counts as separate since there isn't any item that makes a character a silhouette and it isn't just a random costume.

CommentsEdit

I believe the main argument for keeping this separate is that Dark Link is considered a character in a certain mission.--Knife (talk) 20:53, 19 May 2011 (EDT)

@goomba link is not really a character in the smash bros games. He only appears in a mission in SSBM,and as a costume change. It may be significant for a smash bros wiki, but not really mariowiki. It should be merged with Link, for the same reason Giant Kirby is merged with Kirby yoshiyoshiyoshi (talk)

And i would have opposed that two also you want to merge Dark Link a character who has never been proven to be the same character as link in the Zelda franchise also you fight him in two seperate missions in two different games Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

It isnt the same character in the Zelda franchise, but the Zelda series isnt covered on here, except in cameos.I'm saying that is basically just a costume change and the other articles like this got merged for a good rason Yoshiyoshiyoshi 23:15, 19 May 2011 (EDT)

so it's both a costume change and a seperate character such as when you fight two at once in Melee a game where you can't play as dark link Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

This isn't the Zelda Wiki, nor the Smash Wiki, so I would think that Dark Link would be merged with Link. However, because Dark Link is a separate entity in Melee, just like Giga Bowser, that's a good enough reason to separate him from Link. Basically, if Dark Link was only a mere alternate outfit, then it would be appropriate to do the merge.   M&SG (talk) 17:25, 20 May 2011 (EDT)

The deadline was wrong: this was posted on Friday, May 20, and so it ends two weeks later on Friday, June 3 at 23:59 GMT. Please review how to format TPPs properly before making them. - Walkazo 15:25, 22 May 2011 (EDT)

Merge this page to LinkEdit

merge 7-0
You know, given the recent-ish proposal to limit our coverage of the Smash series, the much more important Ancient Minister having already been merged, and the history of similar mini-bosses such as Giant Donkey Kong and Giant Kirby being merged, I don't see why Dark Link should be left behind. No, the palette swaps are not an indication that Dark Link is a playable character; that's like saying Daisy was previously playable because Peach has a skin that looks like her. Also, as seen by Alph, when someone is a separate character, it's plainly indicated. It's just Link and Toon Link in different clothes. Appearing in three events across two games is not notable enough to warrant a separate article, especially when (and this is important to stress), the wiki is interested in limiting its coverage of the Smash series.

  3. Alex95 (talk) - RIP reasons from previous proposal. Per all.
  4. Baby Luigi (talk) Per all.
  5. Ultimate Mr. L (talk) Okay, can I stress just how bad this article is? The shadowy Link clones in the event matches are not meant to be taken as the Dark Link, it's just a reference to him. The palette swaps aren't even necessarily Dark Link; as the article says, Link's is based off the Twilight Soldiers (though those were likely based off Dark Link in turn, I mean, they are on ZeldaWiki's Dark Link page) and Toon Link's was based on Shadow Link (ZeldaWiki gives those their own article). That trivia is laughable, the links to SmashWiki don't exist... okay, these aren't reasons for merging/deletion at this point, more like ranting because the article doesn't do a fan-favorite character justice. Anyway, basically everything on the article isn't actually Dark Link, so definitely merge, or even delete.
  6. TheFlameChomp (talk) With the changes in Smash Bros. coverage, it no longer seems necessary to keep this article separate. Per all.
  7. BBQ Turtle (talk) Per all.

What if Dark Link gets a named skin in Ultimate a la Alph or the Koopalings? LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:00, 25 October 2018 (EDT)

Can I pray that won't happen? Jokes aside, I don't think that's likely, considering the previous examples of characters changing clothes to look like someone else without being renamed. Separately, I'd say that Alph is on the teetering edge of what we should cover, but considering that he's essentially a glorified reskin, it may be worth reexamining him. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 10:45, 25 October 2018 (EDT)

I'd argue that Alph should get a merge, especially when our standards with Smash Bros. coverage has changed. Alph had barely a standing, but now the standards have shifted and I see less and less reason to have him with everything else in Smash Bros. is getting merged.   It's me, Mario!
