Why Split?[edit]

Is there a point to keeping this separate from Monkey Museum? It seems to be practically the same thing as the original except for the minigame option. Unlike the other games' handheld remakes, none of the Donkey Kong Country 2 Kong Family locations were really changed all that significantly. I think it would be more effective to merge the main content with Monkey Museum and leave the Cranky's Hut article as a disambiguation page, considering it seems to be the GBA-era name for Cranky's dwelling in general since Cranky's Cabin was also renamed to Cranky's Hut in the previous game. Determine how to reorganize Cranky's Hut[edit]

Merge DKC2 GBA hut with Monkey Museum 4-0-0
See above. This doesn't really make sense as its own article separate from both Cranky's Cabin and Monkey Museum. In the GBA versions, both were renamed to Cranky's Hut, and the one this article covers is practically Monkey Museum with an additional minigame option. To me, that's like splitting things like Klubba's Kiosk or Funky's Flights II (the GBA locations) solely because they offer additional minigame options. Splitting the minigame itself is sufficient enough. On the other hand, if you look carefully on the GBA maps, it looks almost identical to the original, with the differences mainly being that DKC GBA removes the "Cranky’s Cabin" banner while DKC2 GBA readds it but replaces the red "NINTENDO" sign with a "MUSEUM" one (there's unfortunately no exterior shot of Monkey Museum in the SNES version). Monkey Museum is also extremely similar to the idea of Cranky's Cabin to begin with, just with random advice replaced with an organized and priced selection system. For this proposal, I'm including two options: the first is to simply merge the content into Monkey Museum and turn Cranky's Hut into a disambiguation page; the second is to merge Cranky's Hut and Monkey Museum into the Cranky's Cabin article (the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate recreation clearly uses the "Cranky’s Cabin" banner while updating other features such as changing the red "NINTENDO" sign into an orange "Cranky" one, so by extension, that would be considered the most recent name).

Merge Cranky's Hut (Donkey Kong Country 2) with Monkey Museum[edit]

  1. LinkTheLefty (talk) This is worth two articles at best, hardly three.
  2. Arend (talk) Move the info to Monkey Museum and turn the Cranky's Hut into a disambiguation page. Makes sense to me, considering the various other abodes from Cranky as pointed out in the comments.
  3. Alexo (talk) Agreed.
  4. Killer Moth (talk) Per all.

Merge Cranky's Hut (Donkey Kong Country 2) and Monkey Museum with Cranky's Cabin[edit]

Leave Cranky's Hut (Donkey Kong Country 2) alone[edit]

Comments[edit]

If we're making Cranky's Hut a disambiguation page, we also should take Cranky Kong's Shop into account: yet another set of huts owned by the cantankerous old ape. This is also why I don't think it's a good idea to merge this page and the Monkey Museum to Cranky's Cabin, as it means we might have to do the same with Cranky Kong's Shop. I'm not sure if Cranky's Lab should also be taken into account, however. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 14:02, December 18, 2022 (EST)

Potentially, Cranky's Lab and Cranky Kong's Shop might be mentioned in the disambig scenario, since the reader could be looking for other places owned by Cranky. What do you think about that? I wouldn't merge either of them in the second scenario, however. That makes about as much sense as merging Funky's facilities together - they all offer different services. Cranky's Lab offers moves, and Cranky Kong's Shop offers items, while both forms of "Cranky's Hut" dispense information, with Cranky's Cabin (DKC) giving advice randomly and Monkey Museum (DKC2) selling level hints. Though I hadn't realized that Cranky Kong's Shop looks a lot like them on the outside too, but I think it looks transformative enough. LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:16, December 19, 2022 (EST)
