QuoteEdit

I have played the Gamecube version of DKJB, and the bosses do not speak at all. Is the quote actually heard in-game (perhaps in the Wii version), or was it made up? Fawfulfury65

Possible merger?Edit

I just discovered that both Cactus and Ghastly Kings are infact the same Kong going by the name in Japan: Final Kong.--Tailikku1 (talk) 15:38, 7 March 2015 (EST)

I agree. We should merge them. YoshiCookie (talk) 10:15, 10 December 2015 (EST)

Merge Cactus King and Ghastly KingEdit

This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

merge 6-0
The names are different in English, although they have the same name and stage title in Japanese (ファイナル コング (Final Kong) & 覇王降臨 (はおうこうりん - The Overlord Cometh). Adding to this they look, act, and fight exactly the same, and use the exact same theme during the fight. Plus the Wii version only uses Ghastly King in the Kong of the Mountain stage, as if they are the same Kong. I can chalk this up to localizations that are the reason why they seam to be different characters.

SupportEdit

  1. Tailikku1 (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Niiue (talk) Per proposal.
  3. Bazooka Mario (talk) The only thing they have different is the different English names. That they have the same appearance (unlike other "enhanced" bosses you'd find in the MaRPG games) and same Japanese names (although I'd like to see more names in other languages to bolster the Japanese name argument) also points that they are likely the same entity. I think the two should be merged for the sake of clarity for our readers.
  4. Baby Luigi (talk) per proposal
  5. Yoshi876 (talk) Per proposal.

"The Ghastly King, though, looked exactly like the Cactus King having no differences except for a few new moves."

While I'm leaning toward merge at this point, any explanation for these different moves and different English names?   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 00:11, 3 October 2015 (EDT)

Well, bosses learn new moves all the time, Bowser and Bowser Jr. throughout the Super Mario Galaxy games for example. The names are still a valid opposition though. --  Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 11:20, 3 October 2015 (EDT)
From a story standpoint, the localizers were possibily giving the implication that he is not the real final boss once he is beaten as Cactus King. But upon defeat as Ghastly King, the enemy Kongs are freed from his influence as well as the Ninjapes (if you have enough crests).--Tailikku1 (talk) 20:30, 3 October 2015 (EDT)
Sounds valid. I think evidence points more to a merge.   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:50, 5 October 2015 (EDT)
