Gray or Grey?

Should this article be moved to Gray Bowser Statue? Or are both spellings of gray/grey acceptable? --Yoshi626 03:24, 16 January 2007 (EST)

Bowser statue is a better name

Shouldn't this be moved to "Bowser statue" due to the fact that that's an in-game name? Either way, the current name is a misnomer, as some of them, such as in the Mario Kart Wii remake of Bowser's Castle (N64), they are brown and not grey at all. For that matter, the giant Bowser statues fromMario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart Wii could be potentially moved into the Bowser Monument page, due to having more similarities with it appearance- and size-wise, as well as being capable of movement. I think the bigger issue is that every lump of rock that looks like Bowser is being covered in this article. The "Bowser statues" in Destruction Duet have no points in common with the Gray Bowser Statues in Super Mario Bros. 3, beyond how they both look like Bowser - except one is a sentient species and the other is an inanimate object. Yes, that obstacle in New Super Mario Bros. 2 that shoots out horizontally-moving fireballs. It can't technically be considered a statue since its upright mounting position is a wall, and besides, it looks and acts different from the Bowser "statues" that appear in other games. Time to split?

In Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. 2's Bowser sculptures (200) have the same name as Super Mario Bros. 3's Bowser Statue (41) and Super Mario World's Gray Bowser Statue (60): 「クッパ石像」 (Kuppa sekizō). It should be noted that New Super Mario Bros. 2 seems to have a different internal name (koopa_head; compare with Super Mario Galaxy / Super Mario Galaxy 2, which is KoopaStatue), and Mario Kart 8 features the return of the laser-shooting statues (which the Prima guide apparently calls "Laser Statues") originally unnamed in the English guides for Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario All-Stars, and Super Mario Advance 4 (so the Encyclopedia name for it may have been retroactive). Still, this seems like an "all or nothing" case, considering the behavior and appearance of Bowser statues in general is not consistent. LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:11, 11 February 2019 (EST)

Bowser Monument

So, the Bowser Monument is distinct from Bowser statues because "normal" Bowser statues appear alongside it in the same course. Problem is, the Bowser Monument is clearly an evolution of the fluidly moving "Mecha Bowser" from Mario Kart Wii, which in turn is an evolution of the mechanical, jerkily moving Bowser Statue from Double Dash!! and "Danger, Bob-omb! Danger!" This may in turn be an evolution of the large, wholly-immobile statue from Mario Kart 64, but it isn't mechanical, and acts like the smaller busts of him inside. Anyways, I think some level of merging is in order. Personally, I think that the MKDD, DBD, and MKW ones should be merged to Bowser Monument, though there are other options at to how to handle this. For instance, they could all be merged here; SMA4 had an e-Reader level with both the SMB3 and SMW Bowser Statues in the same room, for example. Anyways, thoughts? See above. In MKDD, there was a large, mechanized Bowser Statue from the waist up, which reappears in the Danger, Bob-omb! Danger! minigame with a somewhat more rocky appearance. In MKW, a more fluidly moving and complete version of the same size and design of Bowser Statue appears, with a guide calling it Mecha Bowser for some reason. In MK8, it appears again but more stony in texture, and is called the Bowser Monument in a guide to differentiate from the SMB-inspired "Laser Statues." Anyways, I think the MKDD, DB-oD, MKW, and MK8 info should all be on one page.
