Is this page really needed?[edit]

I don't really see how this weapon is significant, it functions like a Bill Blaster and Roy uses it. And it's even a conjectural name. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 06:48, June 18, 2020 (EDT)

I think maybe it could be kept if we get an official name, since it has been in two games. Seems like Nintendo is trying to make it Roy's signature weapon, like Lemmy's bouncy balls or Wendy's rings. Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 16:28, June 18, 2020 (EDT)
A shared internal filename would be nice. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 17:51, June 18, 2020 (EDT)
NSLU's files just call it "cannon" in textures part of Roy's model. The Bill Blasters are called houdai. Color Splash doesn't have anything because the weapon is part of Roy's sprites and they don't have names, just numbered order. Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 20:45, June 18, 2020 (EDT)
So, do you think this page should be renamed to "Cannon (weapon)"?
I think it should by renamed to "Roy's cannon". At least, until we get a more suitable name for it. EDIT: Page 165 of the NSMBU Prima guide consistently calls it a "cannon" as well. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 21:14, June 18, 2020 (EDT)
Honestly, this is just a portable Bill Blaster. The balls Lemmy directly conjures aren't separate from the ones bouncing around freely from NSMBW, so I'd prefer a full-on merge. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:40, June 18, 2020 (EDT)

Merge with Roy Koopa[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

Merge 8-1
It's kind of a recurring object, sure, but it's so far only appeared in two games, and would be better off merged with Roy's article until it appears enough times to firmly establish it as a recurring entity.

Proposer: Toadette the Achiever (talk)

Support[edit]

  1. Toadette the Achiever (talk) I honestly think this article is one of those "not quite yet" situations. And the same goes for Morton's Hammer.
  2. Keyblade Master (talk) That's what I thought the moment the article was created.
  3. DarkNight (talk) Per all.
  4. CappyThrow (talk) Per all. We don't split things like Flag and Captain Goomba, that's just silly. Same here.
  5. BBQ Turtle (talk) Per all, I wasn't entirely sure about it when this article was created.
  6. Superbound (talk) Per all
  7. FanOfYoshi (talk) I think it's better merged with Bill Blaster, but this will work. Per all.
  8. Mister Wu (talk) Two games at best is too little. Plus, much like Morton's hammer, the Paper Mario: Color Splash Blaster is different in appearance (lacks the skull) and is internally named Bazooka.

Oppose[edit]

  1. Tails777 (talk) I honestly don't see any problem keeping it split, at least not in the face of other one time weapons. We have plenty of articles regarding weapons that have only appeared in a few games games, such as King K. Rool's Blunderbuss or Mario's Super/Ultra Boots. Also keep in mind Lulu's water pistol has its own article and it does even less than Roy's Bill Gun. I do see the conjectural title problem, but the Levitation Beam has the same problem. I simply think that renaming it would be a better option.

Comments[edit]

One thing I forgot to mention: if this proposal fails, this article will be renamed to Roy's cannon to match established sources for names. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 17:18, August 10, 2020 (EDT)

@Tails777: The difference here is that there's no official name. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 22:09, August 10, 2020 (EDT)

Yeah, I caught that after I made the vote. And I can understand how this would be an easy deal for Roy, Morton and Lemmy's weapons, but that doesn't necessarily fix other articles with the same problem. Do you think there's an easy solution there too? Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tails777 Talk to me!Robin's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
