Merge into Ninji or make Giant Shy Guy article

(Wasn't sure which talk page to put this on, I'm sorry if someone thinks this is in the wrong place)

I have noticed that while the giant Ninji has a seperate article, the giant Shy Guy variety from Super Mario Advance is only mentioned in the Shy Guy article. Since a giant Ninji is no more different from a Ninji than a giant Shy Guy is from a Shy Guy, I propose to either merge this into Ninji or make a seperate article for the giant Shy Guy to achieve some uniformness.

(NOTE: The "Giant Shy Guy" title is just an example, based on this article's title; I don't know if "Giant ..." is the official name, or if there is an official name, but if no official name is known, I figured it would work well as a conjectural placeholder title.)

Merge Giant Ninji with Ninji

1. Bloc Partier (talk) -- It is more efficient to have both on the same page.
2. Lemmy Koopa Fan (talk) We merged Mega Urchin to Urchin, so why not this?

4. Zero777 (talk) I am Zero! Giant Ninji only appeared in one game (not includeing its remakes) and there is not that much difference beside there size, merging will be a good idea . Zero signing out.
5. Knife (talk) -- Since the only difference is the size, I'd say this is best merged with Ninji. The article even states that Giant Ninjis attack similar to normal Ninjis. Not to mention the name seems unofficial (where are these enemies ever called Giant Ninjis? In the credits?).

Separate Giant Shy Guy from Shy Guy

1. Reversinator (talk) We have a giant everything else, so let's be consistent.
2. Fawfulfury65 (talk) Both are considered two different species, therefore they both get different articles. And like Reversinator said, we have giant everything else, even Mario and Mega Mario.

Well we do have a number of articles based on "Giant" versions of enemies/characters/items/etc., e.g. Giant Bowser, Giant Donkey Kong, Grand Goomba, Giant Bob-omb, Giant Blue Shell, Giant Banana, even Giant Kirby, Giant Yoshi Egg, Giant Spear Man, Giant Red Shell, Giant ? Block, Giant ! Block, Gargantua Koopa Troopa, etc, etc. --Garlic Man (talk)

I think that Giant Bob-omb, Giant Blue Shell, Giant Red Shell, Giant ? Block, and Giant ! Block should be merged into their respective article because most are stubs and are just giant versions of their smaller counterparts, nothing different.--FREAK ~Game Freak~ OUT!

@Zero: That's a really bad reason. There are numerous sub-species of enemies that have only appeared in one game, like Headbonk Goomba.

Yeah, but they atacked the same way. Headbonk Goombas on the other hand, jumped in the air and tried to hit the characters with their head, something only they and their dark counterparts can do.--FREAK ~Game Freak~ OUT!

Name

The Versus Books guide refers to this enemy as Big Ninji as opposed to Prima calling it Giant Ninji. It also refers to Giant Shy Guy as Big Shy Guy, Spark Chaser as Faceball (which is closer to the Japanese name we have listed) and Giant POW Block as Big POW. Which version should we use for the article? Naming policy only specifies that Nintendo Power has priority, not in cases where both licensed guides are third-party. In modern games, large enemy variants are mostly identified as "Big", so Big Ninji would be consistent with that idea. In that case, should we also change instances of Giant Shy Guy and Spark Chaser to Big Shy Guy and Faceball, respectively? LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:45, July 12, 2019 (EDT)

I noticed that the large red Shy Guy, for instance, are referred to as a "giant Red Shy Guy" in the Red Shy Guys description on page 30 of the Super Mario Advance instruction booklet (Prima refers to each individual color as "Giant [Color] Shy Guy"). Since it's not unheard of for Prima to capitalize where other sources did not, Big Shy Guy seems to be the more proper name as far as Super Mario Advance goes. Now that someone went ahead and split "Big Shy Guy" from Mega Guy (despite the only suggestion being my own that we use "Giant Shy Guy" until we get more consensus on this discussion point, in my proposal), it's important to formalize guide priority in cases where a Nintendo Power source is unavailable, since we have name conflicts in the official Versus Books and Prima Games guides (and potentially the BradyGames one). Besides that, we also currently have "Hidden Item Container" from BradyGames over Prima Games, but the rationale for that is because "Roulette" is taken by another article per source exception. I've read one suggestion to use whichever is the most recent guide, which according to Amazon should be BradyGames (apparently released on June 13, 2001, while Versus Book is lised as June 4, 2001, and Prima Games on June 8, 2001), but that's not always verifiable or trustworthy, and those supposed dates are so close that it doesn't really make sense to wholly base article titles over them. Either way, a clearer system is needed so the wiki isn't titling based on personal preferences. LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:34, February 16, 2020 (EST)
