Sharkbone

According to one of my friends, his name is "Sharkbone". I'm usually not the kind to believe something so easily, but the only place he could've gotten that from was probably the Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga Player's Guide, which he happens to own. Does that call him "Sharkbone"? If so, I think that should be added to the article.--YellowYoshi398 13:25, 28 December 2006 (EST)

According to me he is Sharkbone. Not sure thought. Paper Jorge

I think its a good idea.Knife (talk)

Yeah well...what's the name of those sharks in Super Mario World? the undead ones? The sharks must be them... Paper Jorge

I don't remember any undead sharks in Super Mario World... Are you thinking of Fishbone? --YellowYoshi398

TMK put the "Sharkbone" mystery to rest recently, and I've updated both this page and that of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga/Beta elements to reflect their discovery. YELLOWYOSHI398

Uh? That's how they are named ingame. Glowsquid

Without just going to the main page, that is. Just thought I'd let you all know. BLOC PARTIER.

Problem

After editing something on this page, I get redirected to the main page.0.o - Senor Luigi

That's because of the ? marks in the article title. — Stooben Rooben 18:08, 24 April 2009 (EDT)

"(Pronounced Unknown)" ???? to ????

How can something be pronounced "Unknown" when unknown itself is pronounced ˌʌnˈnoʊn?

Where is proof that ???? is pronounced "unknown"? -Gary Koopa

Disambiguation page for ???? (move this to Sharkbone?)

There is reason to have a disambiguation page for ????, because Dream's Deep is called ???? in the Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros. map. Samario (talk)

Name

For future reference, the Prima guide for ML:SS refers to the "Sharkbone" as a "large, skeletal sand shark" or just "sand shark", and the "Sand-Cheep" as "a tiny, fist-like creature". Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

The Easy Mode hint lists their names in the hint "Sand Cheep and Sharkbone". The only difference is that Sand Cheep is missing the hyphen from the middle. Should the page be moved? PPLToast (talk) 12:35, 6 October 2017 (EDT)

Their in-battle name is still the same, so it might be easier to leave it be unless we're talking about splitting them altogether. LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:46, 6 October 2017 (EDT)
Regardless, this should be mentioned on the page, and the bestiary identifiers should be changed to fit this. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:10, 26 December 2017 (EST)

Split Sand-Cheep and Sharkbone?

Question.svg This talk page or section has a conflict or a question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

These are two different enemies with the same page. They share an in-battle name because otherwise their attacks wouldn’t be effective. Besides, we have enemies like Troopea and Elite Troopea split, so I don’t see why we should keep these guys on the same article. And the name "????" is ambiguous; it can refer to several others listed on the ??? page. I think Sand-Cheep and Sharkbone should be split, and this page should be a redirect to ???. -YFJ (talk · edits) 18:02, 10 March 2018 (EST)

Is ???? treated as a single enemy, but it only just "becomes" one or the other when it attacks randomly, or is its identity always a Sand[-]Cheep or Sharkbone in battle? If the former, it's better to keep it together as-is; if the latter, I'd support a split. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:04, 20 March 2018 (EDT)
If it starts a Sand Cheep, it's always a Sand Cheep, and vice-versa. The remake even shows which is a Sand Cheep at the start of battle if you look close enough. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:58, 20 March 2018 (EDT)
On the one hand, they have different stats and behavior and only Sand Cheeps appear outside of battles. On the other hand, if you don't know which is which in the battle, you may jump when you're suppose to stay or stay when you're suppose to jump. And they mix themselves up in the battle. Which is not the case for Antasma. They are also different enemies, which is not the case for Hermite Crabs. Could go either way. But, as for me, I would keep them on the same. This is how the enemy does two different attack, and they are the only enemies that do so. This means that it would be hard to get another source. Hmmm... Yeah! That's true! Their HP, Defense Power, and health are different. Sand-Cheeps ressemble Blurp with a blue shark fin, while Sharkbones are shark's bones with a blue shark fin. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 04:05, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
If I may intervene, the only thing left (maybe) would be to verify that Sand-Cheep and Sharkbone have different names across all languages, since I'm fairly certain they do. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 17:15, 24 September 2018 (EDT)
Are Sand-Cheep and Sharkbone in-game name, or are they from a manual? And, also has any one found a Japanese name? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 12:42, 30 October 2018 (EDT)
They are in-game names, found in the hints in the 3DS remake of the game. Don't have Japanese names, sorry. -YFJ (talk · edits) 13:35, 30 October 2018 (EDT)
Maybe LinkTheLefty has some, and he understands Japanese, has Japanese Guides for the games. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 03:59, 27 November 2018 (EST)
