The Sydney Opera (more commonly known as the Sydney Opera House) is a famous opera house in Sydney, Australia that opened in 1973. Its design is based off a boat under full sail or a whole bunch of seashells.

Luigi visits it during the events of Mario is Missing!, as the Sydney Opera Sheet Music containing Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 had been stolen by Koopa Troopas. The plumber had to find it and return it to the opera. Upon completing his task, he is awarded a prize of 1,190 dollars.

The Sydney Opera also appears in Mario Kart Tour as a traversable location in the first Sydney-themed race track Sydney Sprint. Inside, Toads, Shy Guys, and Koopa Troopas appear as the audience. In the exit of the opera house there's a Glide Ramp that, once headed out of the opera, takes the player to the Luna Park-inspired amusement park.

It also makes a minor appearance in the second Sydney-themed race track Sydney Sprint 2, where the racers can only race near the building. The player can easily see the opera's interior briefly in the R and R/T variations of the course, where it can be seen that the audience is still present, despite the racers never going in there.

Pamphlet information from Mario is Missing!

Sydney's Opera House has become the most well-known landmark in the city. Most people remark that it looks exactly like a boat under full sail. A contest was held to design the Opera House. People from all over the world submitted plans, and a young architect from Denmark was chosen. Because of problems with the construction, the architect unhappily left the project before it was completed. The theater is built on Bennelong Point, named for an Aborigine, Australia's native people.
