Super Mario Trading Card Collection

The Super Mario Trading Card Collection is a series of collectable Super Mario cards launched by the Italian publishing house Panini Group in April 2022. A complete set comprises 252 numbered cards, as well as nine additional limited-edition cards that are unnumbered and deemed "outside of the ordinary card assortment." A designated collector's tin and a collector's album are also sold in stores, the latter containing a brochure with a checklist for the 252 numbered cards.

The cards are officially distributed in the following packages:

• 8-card booster pack
• 24-card value pack
• 32-card kit (4 booster packs)
• 144-card kit (18 booster packs)
• Starter set pack (1 collector's album alongside 3 booster packs and 1 limited-edition card)

A small collector's tin comes with three booster packs and two limited-edition cards, while a large collector's tin comes with six booster packs and one limited-edition card, though some countries have eight packs. The large tin was not released in the United Kingdom; instead, the small tin contains five packs instead of three.

Categories

The cards are divided into multiple categories, as shown on the card packages and in the brochure included with the collector's album. Said brochure features a checklist that recognizes 252 cards, of which 180 are "base" cards and 72 are "special" cards, the latter of which have a glossy foil on their front sides. This checklist excludes limited-edition cards. The following is a list of card categories in this collection; items with a star symbol (✹) indicate a category for special cards, as shown in the album brochure:

• Character Cards: contains 18 cards with solo renders of Super Mario characters.
• Close-up Cards: contains 18 cards with close-up shots of Super Mario characters.
• Yoshi, Toad & Toadette Cards: contains 18 cards with solo renders of characters from the Yoshi and Toad species. On the card packaging, this category is split into Yoshi Cards and Toad & Toadette Cards, containing 10 and 8 cards, respectively.
• Enemy Cards: contains 54 cards with solo renders of Super Mario enemies.
• Group Cards: contains 18 cards with group renders of Super Mario characters.
• Item Cards: contains 18 cards with Super Mario items.
• Golden Cards ✹: contains 18 Super Mario character cards with a golden foil on their front sides.
• Silver Cards ✹: contains 18 Super Mario character cards with a silver foil on their front sides.
• Sport Cards ✹: contains 36 cards showing Super Mario characters engaging in sports. Most renders used on these cards are promotional renders for specific Super Mario sports games (Mario Super Sluggers, Mario Sports Mix, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, etc.), while Wendy's is for New Super Mario Bros. U.
• Line Drawing Cards: contains 27 cards with line drawings of Super Mario characters.
• Puzzle Cards: contains 9 cards that form a complete picture when put together.

Limited-edition cards

Physical limited-edition cards have a shiny diamond pattern on their front side in a style termed "Fragmented Reality" (as indicated by the letters "FR" on the top left of each card). In promotional pictures on online Panini stores, they are represented with a matte, solid color instead.
