Squeekly
Squeeklys[1][2] (alt. plural Squeeklies[3]) are purple bat creatures that inhabit Donkey Kong Island and appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns. Squeeklys are semi-common enemies that appear in some levels of the Cave and the Forest. For Donkey Kong and Diddy, these baddies are more of an obstacle than an enemy, as all they do is fly straight forward. The Kongs can defeat a Squeekly by jumping on it or throwing an object like a barrel at it.
They make a prominent appearance in the Crowded Cavern level of the Cave, alongside Bobbin' Squeeklies and a Big Squeekly that appear in a specific formation. There are some small Squeeklies that attack in the front, medium size Bobbin' Squeeklies that attack by flying up or down when they feel their victims coming, and a Big Squeekly that chases the Kongs throughout the level, able to emit powerful sonic waves from its mouth to hurt the primates. Unlike the Squeeklys that appear in other levels, these Squeeklys cannot be defeated in any way, although the large Squeekly shows problems avoiding large walls during the chase and is eventually knocked down by one at the end of the level.
