A round of snowflakes soars above the Kongs

Snowflakes[1] are crystallized ice formations encountered as obstacles in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They are widespread in Forest Folly, one level of the game. Snowflakes appear slowly from above, floating smoothly on predetermined paths. They come along in rows, each row following a distinct path in the air. Some snowflakes sway in arc-shaped patterns, returning to the sky thereafter; some leave wavy trajectories, while other simply rain down into abysses.

Snowflakes are dangerous to touch, depleting one heart from the Kongs' health meter if they come into contact. On the other hand, snowflakes can be destroyed with a projectile, such as a barrel or Tuff Tuck. Alternatively, they can be shattered by Cranky Kong's Cane Bounce.

At one point near the end of Forest Folly, much larger, indestructible snowflakes start to drop from above, breaking the wooden platforms beneath when they come into contact with them. As they lose a life directly if they touch one, the Kongs have no choice but to hurry and reach the Slot Machine Barrel before the big snowflakes take them out.
